Did anyone check the link out? It's about Metabolism, and how to heal or repair it if you've damaged it. I am also reading more, and doing more research on it.

I think eating a lot of super foods would really help too!

I checked it out right when you posted it. I was waiting to see what others would say.

I get sooo confused when people talk about % and stuff like that. I agree that people consume way few calories than they should- especially if they are working out. In fact, it's funny but I rarely get hungry when I have a lengthy workout regime. I have to sort of force myself to eat- okay force sounds rigid, but I mean that I have to make something and eat it because I can go off that "empty high" for quite some time! And we need food (even raw) to have our bodies function properly, heal, and provide energy.

After you first get adjusted to raw, I think it's important to look at your diet. Everyone should- raw or not! Make sure you are getting a variety and eating enough (especially if you work out). When I was on my "myspace" kick, I would read the raw food groups and get frustrated to read that people would eat an orange, banana, small salad, possibly a pear - that's for the whole day! And this is not just once in a while. This is everyday! And some would claim that they ate sooo much and pigged out (on the above mentioned)! I think we should be EATING- whether you are raw or not! That's why I love this board, aside from fasting or certain times of minimal eating, we eat!!!! Yeah!! :D

Hello!

I think it's something that a lot of people should look at. I think maybe some people get kind of high off of exercise and loose there apitite for food, or else they go to extremes to loose weight or be thinner. Which in the long run just messes with your body! People just need to slow down I think, and not got to extremes, find balance!

There is also a lot of misconceptions out there that people have to power through as well.

One of the things I have been thinking about is that people claim that we used to eat exclusively raw food back in the day. But I also know that, for me, eating raw food while mountaineering is hard. Number 1- you burn loads of calories climbing and you can't lug all that raw food (plus freezing problems with the food you do carry) and as you get to high altitude, even if you are sitting, you body burns sooo many calories you need to eat in the thousands calorie range. So, dehydrated protein filled food warmed with water is the way to go. I know people would say "bring nuts, dehydrated fruits etc" but that's great for the lower parts of the climb, not the higher points.

Which made me think of the fact that perhaps people weren't made to survive on mountains or remote places in Alaska or _____(fill in). So, we find and claim places and find ways to survive. Example: whale blubber, dehydrated protein foods, etc.

Okay, sorry if I took this off your topic. I think it did, so I might repost this later in it's own thread.

Hello again!

Do you rock climb, or hike or what? Is it in really hot places or cold ones?

I still don't know the whole answer to this, but I am tring to look deeper.

I think that so many people go on strict diets that can hurt them, I read that yo, yo dieting, to much cardiovascilar exercise, fasting, Extreme undereating, and a few other's can really mess with your body.

What do you think of all this?

Oh, sorry. I mean climbing as in scrambling and mountaineering. I was more referring to submitting mountain tops. That would create the need for more fuel but would make staying raw pretty dang hard. It can be a totally different atmosphere. I've seen people stay raw through like the Pacific Crest Trail and stuff but they are not that high in altitude nor are they submerged with intense cold.

Yes, I agree yo-yo dieting can wreak havac on a body. I'm still healing from all the bad things I have done to my body in an attempt to lose weight.
Overtraining is a hard thing...........I use that as an excuse sometimes. For example: I don't push myself when I need to because I don't want to over train, pull a muscle, stress my body out etc. So, then I let myself get lax and don't reap the same results. However, there is also the opposite end where people overtrain where it can just as dentremintal as all the good things you are trying to do for your body. There's gotta be a balance and finding it can be tricky.
