Vitamix 5000 v Vita Prep 3

Can anyone help...looking for a household holiday gift (late).
Trying to decide between Vitamix 5000 (2+ HP, 7 year warranty) v. Vita Prep 3 (3+ HP, 3 year warranty).
Any suggestions?

I just bought a VIta Mix 5000 at Costco for $359.00. I am not sure if this is a regular product that they carry since they had a guy demonstrating the blender.

i have used both and the only reason you would want/need a vp3 is if you tend to blend alot of very thick recipes, and often. for normal use the vm5000 is more than sufficient and is a much better price.
but if you do decide that the vp3 is for you, don't worry about the warranty -- all vitamix products seem to last forever!

I got the Vitaprep since I was able to get it at a great price on Ebay, better than the Vitamix. The Vitaprep is the professional model and I love how it has the higher horsepower. It is a great machine!
