Hi,

I'm going to fast for 40 days from January. I want also to run a marathon on May. I've run a marathon already (in September) and I'd been already fasting for 21 days (las year).

So with these information :) , do you thing that is real to run half marathon in April and a marathon in May and have better time than in the last marathon?

I want to do both because I fell in love with running and I need to clean myself.

Thanks in advance.

I have run marathons back to back prior to being raw....but not after fasting???? I guess I would go with how you feel...Are you able to train while fasting? I know that's why I DON'T fast...I am too busy and active to do less than an apple fast or mono fruit fast....Have you tried that? just a thought...I am doing a marathon in Phoenix, Arizona January 14th! Which one's are you doing in the spring? In Czech? Have a good day!

Hi,

I don't plan to train while fasting. It's not possible. ;) I originally intended to train after fast. But yesterday I had a look into a running book and I realized that marathon training takes 4 months. So I have to choose.

It will be PIM (Prague International Marathon) in the Czech republic. Good luck in your marathon.

Thanks

I still think you could do it by May is it? If you fast from January to mid February that still gives you about three months. I assume you are already in good physical shape since you ran a marathon in September...When the fast is over-mid February? I would just rebuild your base. Because of the fast you will be "cleaner" and your body will be able to adapt more to your previous good physical shape....not that my story is similar. But last year I broke my femoral neck (hip area of leg) on January 5th....Obviously I could not run for awhile...could not even walk...I had a metal plate, rod and screws attached to my leg in surgery and they had to cut near/around a lot of muscle. "They" said I would not be able to walk for a 2-3 months and weren't sure if I could ever resume running again....I was devestated...but determined. I have been raw since August 5, 2005 so this was several months into raw, I was in good shape. So I focused on retraining my muscles to work and was walking after 4 weeks unassisted and running on my treadmill SLOWLY after 5 1/2 weeks. When I went for my recheck after 6 weeks my doctor was amazed at the healing as he could not see a trace from the break! The power of raw food and homeopathy (and of course prayer!) healed me! He gave me my running blessings and that was that. I ran a half marathon 4 1/2 months post op in May....Now, that is a little different than your case but the moral of the story is that because I was in such good shape prior to my accident I was able to "come back" so soon.....you probably can do the same? In any case good luck!

p.s. I know that "they " say in running books you need 4 months to train but that is for people that eat typical food and such. Being raw you are cleaner on the inside (especially after a fast) and your body WILL respond faster...just wanted to add that
