I plugged in the DVD today and started watching it. My 5yo watched with keen interest. Later in the evening, she was talking about her MeeMaw Darby and what good food she makes (she makes the best cooked food). My 5yo then asked "Can we tell MeeMaw Darby about raw food?" WOW!! It has not been in vain!!!
I haven't really talked to my kids as much as I should about RAW foods and how good they are. I usually just talk about different foods and how they are good for us/them (carrots give you bright eyes, spinach makes you big and strong, water gives you smooth skin, etc.). So they are pretty good at reciting that.
I guess deep down I still worry that if people find out we are eating a high percentage of raw food, something bad will happen. I mean when the doctor asks at their well check ups "What are they eating now" I tell them "spinach, caluliflower, avocados, carrots, bananas, apples, etc. etc." But I never tell them I don't cook it. They just ASSUME that I do!
But my parents already think we are wacky enough with our no vaccinations and our vegetarian diet. Imagine when I tell them we eat high raw foods (80-95%)! And the girls are so excited to share their knowledge about raw foods, that I just worry they will speak too much around grandma and grandpa and I won't hear the end of it from them.
Anyways, just a little bit of a vent, and a whole lot of encouragment to keep SHARING with your kids! They are learning!!!! ;)
