I have been eating a mostly raw foods diet for 8 months(I was 100% for 2-3) and now totally raw for a bit less than a month and I am wondering if I am eating something wrong. Ok, I am having my period and this extremely stressful family situation, but I have been staying totally raw. I have been eating high on the grains (sprouted, dehydrated) and nuts (sauces, cheeses, and dips) but I am in one heck of a crappy mood. I do not have cravings for greens, which I often do. I feel so heavy. I am very irratable. Must I start tweeking my diet? I am really hoping raw is raw is raw. I want to eat raw ginger christmas cookies and pizza and bagels, oh my, oh my, yummy. Fruit and greens just are not appealing to me right now. But my mood isn't so appealing either!! Especially to husband and kiddos. Any advise is greatly appreciated! :(

Are you getting enough rest? Maybe you need more.
Don't force yourself to eat something you don't want at this point....but mabye find a way that you would like to incorporate more fruits or greens if you want to lighten up you diet. You can make some delicious smoothies that are sooooo good.
Do you like salads? Eat them with your heavier foods.
Most of all, be kind to yourself and give it time. If you are going through a real stressful time right now that could be a big part of it.
Do you exercise? That is my stress reliever. I would be very cranky and crabby with my family if I didn't.

Some people who eat the lighter foods and a lot of fruit report to have less cravings. Just a thought. Everyone's different though.

Who says you have to eat greens all the time. Those who fast sometimes eat nothing for weeks at a time, so if you go a week or two without greens but your still eating tones of other things.. dont worry about it :D

Thanks, fellow raw folk. I feel better just connecting. I had some angel hair pasta and marinara and a large salad and felt better. I am going to have just fruit in the am and see how that helps. Faith4you, this is Jenny K. Thanks for your help!! How are you!!? I am letting myself be aware that there is a healthy heap of stress on my life, well, not healthy exactly!!. My husband pointed out that I am doing much better with the stress than I would be on my old diet. I exercise every day, a prayer to have things work out well might help too, though. Thanks again.

Hi there,
Try dropping the nuts and grains for a few weeks and see how you feel. Your body is trying to tell you something.
All the best,
Audrey

My advice would be integrate green juice or smoothie daily, I think that this is so key. It's alkalizing and calming. Fruits/sugars in excess can create creavings for heavier, nuts/grains, which are harder to digest and can sap energy and lower the mood in excess. This is just my personal experience, and everybody differs...there's so much trial and error, so do some research and change it up if it's not working and have fun with it.

my guess is its that extremely stressful family situation. my golly stress can do such terrible, terrible things to you. i know first hand ...
maybe try some light exercise, relaxation techniques like breathing exercises or yoga, taking a walk around the block at night..etc.
if youre wanting to reach for raw xmas cookies..my advice would be to reach for them. no sense in making your stress worse by restricting yoruself from what you want. try your best to just let yourself go for a few days...acknowledge that this time is just a rough patch for you, and that it will be over soon, but in the meantime some raw xmas cookies and breads to make you feel better arent gunna kill ya!
