I am new to raw food- about 10 months, and this is my first time sick in a while. I have the chills, headache and just feel so letharigic. Any advice on what to eat or juice b/c I do have a little appetite?. Thanks in advance

Hmm...the chills threw me. Is this detox or sickness?

Anyway, probably just simple foods. I hope you feel better soon.

Do not think I am detoxing- I feel like I have the flu.

Detox can feel like the flu. It's the chills that make it confusing (to me). I don't remember that being a detox symptom...but maybe it is.

All sicknesses are forms of detox. Usually to get over it as quickly as possible, rest, drink fluids, etc. Don't eat and it'll get out quicker. You don't want to supress symtoms, you want it all to come out so you can feel better again.

The less you do and eat, the faster your body will work through it.

I would do some juicing. Carrots, cucumbers, celery, greens and eat stuff like apples, parsley salad, soups.

Hi there,

If you don't have an appetite your body is instructing you not to eat. Listen to it! :-) Anytime we feel sick it is best to fast so that our body has more energy to devote to healing (digestion takes a huge amount of energy). If you feel like you must eat, stick to small amounts of juicy fruit.

Get as much sleep as you can and rest a lot. I hope you feel better soon!!

All the best,

If you think about it-like Revvell said before, our pets don't eat when they are sick. In fact-we are instructed to NOT feed them & make sure they get plenty of fluids....so that tells me a lot.

I think animals have a *6th* sense about their bodies that we-humans could learn a lot from.

I would maybe do what Revvell says-the warm water, lemon, agave/honey & rest. If up to it-some juice & then when ready-move on to the green smoothies.

Hope you feel better.

Make a delicious orange smoothie and take small sips through the day. The citrus might up lift you and the Vit C is good for you.

I have recently started fasting whenever I get sick and I find it is really the best method for me. I feel my body shift into super high healing gear to fight the illness. It usually passes in one to three days. Quicker, I believe, than if I don't fast. Make sure to drink lots of fluids; light juicing is probably ok. I was scared at first of fasting but it feels quite natural when I am sick. Animals do it. Check out Paul Bragg's The Miracle of Fasting. It is a quirky but inspirational book.

Get well soon.

Thanks all- I am only starting to feel better today and I spoke with someone who convinced me I was detoxing. I can't believe it because I really felt so awful, still do but have alittle more energy and was able to get a green juice down.

My sinuses and head are still bothering me and that kind of stinks- Some of it may be emotional b/c I am anticipating my upcoming week which is traveling to Iowa for a family outing with parties and a lot of cooked processed food. UGH!

Anyway, thanks for all your insights.
