I have been lurking around for a week or so picking up some good info. (Thanks All). I have posted a few times. I have been trying to stay raw for the past 13 days. Today I have made my first green smoothie. OMG how great!! I just used 2 bananas, 1 orange and a nice hand full of spinach. This is lunch.
Has anyone made a smoothie and kept it in a thermos. I wake up for work at 4:00AM. I would like to take one for lunch but I donÂ’t know if it will still be good. I would have to make it the night before because I donÂ’t want to wake everyone up making it in the morning.

Can anyone help?

My concern would be the seperation of the ingredients. Plus smoothies always taste best to mee fresh out of the blender.

Can you leave a blender at work and just take fresh indredients with you daily?

Not really, I work in an office with no real break room. :(

I know many people that make smoothies the night before. As long as you have them in a sealed container you're fine! Like everything they are best fresh, but better drunk 12 hours old than not at all!!

And yes they are yummy! Most people start with high fruit and a smaller amount of greens then graduate to heaps more greens. We'll often fill the blender with greens, blend smooth with a little water, then top of with fruit. It ends up being about 60% greens. It's still absolutely lovely tasting though!

Cheers,
Sheryl

Well, when I was doing the Green Cleanse I would make 2 quarts in the a.m. and it was breakfast and lunch.

I know in "Green for Life" Victoria Boutenko says that they would make green smoothies for people to last them for 2 days.

I don't see a problem with making a green smoothie at night and putting it in a thermos to take to work the next day. It should stay nice and cold. Just shake and enjoy :D

I am real picky about my juices and do not take them to work for that reason. Actually I am a fresh freak with raw food in general. Others who have success with taking the juices to work tell me that they get all of the air out of the container - they fill the juice up to the very top and with no air in there it does not oxidise. I may consider trying this in the future when I find some smaller containers.....because my other personal thing is that I like the drink to be room temperature and that will cause spoilage also.

Yes, green smoothies are delicious...especially if you find just the right combination(s)!

As for taking to work...if your thermos is one of those "hot/cold" ones...follow the directions for keeping things cold, make sure it's icey cold after blending and maybe consider squeezing a little lemon in the mix. Once you get to work and ready to drink it, shake it up in the event that it seperates. All you can do is try it out...just for one day and see how it works out!

I love green smoothies...they never come out the same twice...I usually make them rather spicey...

I make mine in the morning and put it in a thermos and it lasts me through lunch....before I put the smoothie in the thermos...I put some ice cubes in the thermos with water for a few minutes to cool it down...then I put in the smoothie...I'm a massage therapist and usually pour about 6-8 ounches every hour and I shake the thermos real well before pouring...sometimes it gets thick and I just eat it with a spoon....

Of course everything is better fresh...but sometimes we have to improvise .

I had some radish leaves around so I figured why not smoothie it. It was delish.

radish leaves
spring mix
apples
slice lemon
coconut water (but would have used water if didn't have this)

9 more coconuts waiting on me. Young coconuts I use.

Wow. Now I try anything green except onions. Now going to use dandelions tomorrow and see if I get that same love affair going for another healthy drink.

I make a whole large blender-full in the mornings; divide it up ~ save two in the fridge, drink one immediately. The other two I drink throughout the day. Not the best way yet, better than not at all.

Go for it!

Yum! two pears, one small banana and a big bunch of orange beet greens I picked up at Whole Foods in Seattle yesterday, and I finally went to Chaco Canyon, really good food and people.

Never saw these before! They are sooo pretty, and I get a two fer one. I had to buy them. Greens for a smoothie and beets for a juice or salad.

I did it! I took everyones advise and it worked. I made the smoothie last night and put in in my pre-cooled thermos and it was great. it was just what I needed when the day started to drag. I still can't beleave how great I feel eating raw. I am down 11 Lbs. 55 Lbs to go. After only 14 days I've never felt this good. Thanks for the advise. :D
