Hi all,

Here's the thing. I'm a newbie to raw. I love eating raw, but I do have one problem. I am SOOO hungry. I feel like I just eat and eat and eat and eat and eat and eat (all raw) all day. I never feel satisfied, let alone full. It's mostly fruit I overeat. I'm afraid of gaining weight if I continue to eat like this :(.

Any advice / suggestions / comments?

Thanks.

Yep. Wait it out and eat what you want. It's detox. It passes.

You are looking to eat a light alive diet but still remain heavy & weighed down like the cooked diet made you used to feeling. It goes away but it's different to get used to in the beginning. Ask yourself am I really hungry or do I just need to feel heavy & full. Usually it's the latter & not actual hunger. It's ok though, go ahead & eat & eat & eat if you feel you need to, it will balance out eventually. No worries.

Get Alissa's book and read where she makes LOTS of raw food for someone with no fears of gaining. As a matter of fact, the woman said she couldn't eat all the food Alissa was giving her and she STILL eliminated weight.

Enjoy your new-found lifestyle. Think health and drop the fear.... and remember to ALWAYS, play with your food.

You need to eat things that are not as tasty to your taste buds (until your hungry spurt is over) You will take longer to eat it and that sends signals to your belly to tell you your full. I sometimes get hungry and I want to eat everything, so I have a nice piece of my fruit and nut biscotti and maybe a cup of coffee or tea (Yes im only 98% raw) Sometimes the nuts help but sometimes they don't. try eating a salad instead of fruit. Its less sweet and you may get bored of eating :D

It's ok to be hungry! I am like always eating too (all raw as well) and I understand. Your body is probably just starving for the nutrients and is happy you are finally giving them to it. Your body will get used to it and settle down after a while. Just don't restrict yourself from eating fresh fruit, fruit is great for you...and think there are people all around the world eating multiple portions of ice cream, chips, cookies, etc....and you are worried about eating too much fruit. lol I eat tons of fruit as well. You may also have a super high metabolism and need to eat a lot. I wouldn't restrict yourself, our bodies know best and if yours is confused right now it wont last too long and should soon know what is best...just remember to always listen to it.

I personally think its ya body craving mineral balance. I know if I eat fruit in the morning and easily digestable food I will be very hungry later on. Serious I once ate like 12 apples, and oranges, etc in split apart in the morning, I was sooo hungry later....But if I have a big smoothie of greens and bananas, it's like my body got all the minerals etc it needed so hunger is gone for the day cuz my body got all it needed.

it aint raw but its better than eating cooked solid
foods and thats green tea .

its an appetite supresant that is used in many
weight loss suppliments .

it helped me alot when changing over .

also you could get into some 2 -3 day liquid fast's
to help start shrinking stomach down from its
bloated by cooked foods state .
you'll be grumpy but after youve done a few youll
have a tighter grip on your cravings , plus coming off fast
previously too bland / tasteless raw stuff shall taste
great cuz youll be so hungry .

Sure. I hear you. 2 things:

1) Give your body a chance (at least 6-12 months) for your digestive system to adjust to raw foods.

2) If you KNOW intellectually that you are getting enough bulk, calories, & nutrients.....and you are stuffing yourself with good foods....then it's obviously not a food issue...but an emotional one....one that eating well won't necessarily help.

-If you are always hungry or feeling empty then try eating ONE healthy food (like watermelon...or canteloupe) until you cannot possible eat another bite. You might want to eat one or two full-sized canteloupes. Believe me...your body WILL tell you that you've had enough! Ha! ha!

-If you are hungry all the time...that rather defeats the purpose of being and happy and satisfied. Go back to a level of eating that you ARE comfortable and full at....and stretch slowly from there.

-Just my opinions.
