View Full Version : Carrot Juice Fast?

I was thinking of doing a short carrot juice fast. Maybe 3-5 days. Has anyone done this? I've been reading about the nutrients and I think I could really get some nice results by doing a fast like this, but am wondering if there are any negatives. Will I turn orange? Is it too much sugar? If I turn orange, how orange will I be and how long will it take to go away? lol
Also, there's the question of the vitamin A. Apparently there's 20,000 IU in an 8 ounce glass of carrot juice. Since I'd be drinking several glasses a day, it got me to thinking...I know that the body wastes excess vitamin C, but is the same true for vitamin A? I thought I heard somehting about too much vitamin A doing some sort of damage, but maybe not.

Thanks all :)

schmoopie ,

right now im without any n w walker books
cuz gave them all away to people for
their healths sake

but from memory i know that walker , the great
nutritionist / raw foodist whom attained a body span of 115
years , said carrot juice is a great cleanser and great at
dissolving any cancerous growths .

he liked carrot juice and spinach the most of
any juices .

and hey if ya turn a bit orange for a few itll
just look like a tan

Hi Shmoopie... carrot juice is so good! Maybe you could do some carrot/veg juice combinations. Sometimes that can be beneficial... to balance the blood sugar levels while fasting.

There are some juice ideas on the Fasting Thread... the Living Foods Simple Juice link. You're welcome to join the fasting thread.

Wishing you a positive fasting journey! :D

I have to agree with MR. Norman Walker is one of my faves as well and he mentioned carrot juice a LOT. As far as turning orange, he said that was from the liver (bile) detox, not from the carrot juice directly. If you can get any of his books (very reasonably priced) he was definitely into eating raw foods in their purest form.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. And I'll definitely pick up a Walker book or two when I can.

I am glad you posted this, b/c I have a huge bag of carrots screaming at me in the refrigerator, with my brother joining in the taunt of wanting to know when I am actually going to juice them.....

I too have been a bit nervous about turning orange..... I guess if anyone asks, we could say it is just a winter tan, eh?

Good luck!

When are you starting?
