Normally throughout the day, any meal or snack. Do you only eat 1 helping? Or do you eat more than 1 serving at a time.

Sometimes I want to help my self to 2-3 biscotti's but I try to remember that they are made with nuts and honey and calories add up

I eat until I'm satisfied ~ whatever that may be.

i also just eat until i am full. i find if i limit myself then i tend to go crazy next time. i am trying to just eat raw and have fun and be happy that raw is good regardless of how much or little i have.

You guys are so lucky. I've gained 3 lbs which totally blows because I lost 2lbs after 9 days raw. Granted Im not 100% raw like those 9 days right now but I wouldnt think I'd gain more than I lost from only being half raw. geez LOL

What constitutes "a helping" differs from when I used to be on a cooked diet.

An apple used to be "a serving" of fruit. (After a "helping" each of this that or the other thing in a so-called "complete" meal)

Nowadays 4 or 5 apples (or more if I am hungry) is an "meal". 1/3 of a pineapple is "a meal".

I don't go by "serving guidelines" by any stretch. I disagree with governmental agendas to mess with how people are supposed to naturally eat :)

I eat until I'm full. When I was eating SAD, I never knew when I was full. I would leave the table hurting sometimes. I think I am more aware of what I eat now.

Eating raw is the best thing that has ever happened to me (After my wife and Daughter that is.) LOL :D

It depends on what the food is. I try to limit the amount of desserts and nuts I eat. But I eat as many veggies as I want.

I guess usually one portion, cause that's what fills me up.

I definitely used to eat a lot more when I was cooked.

I eat till full yet unlike others I just can't seem to lose any weight...my first month raw I lost about 7 pounds...now...I just can't seem to lose anymore , in fact, if I'm not careful I gain....I'm probably 98% raw....I don't understand those that say they eat as much as they want and lose or even stay the same....I don't know what I'm doing wrong...I've counted calories most of my adult life and don't wanna do that anymore...plus, how could I possibly count calories for a green smoothie that has everything but the kitchen sink in it...ha! ha!....

I love this way of eating...I still want to lose about 15 pounds....I'm 5'2" and weigh 145 so I know I'm being realistic in my goal.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong...any suggestions...I want to lose some weight.

My suggestion, go 100%. There's an amazing difference between 98 and 100. Eat liberal amounts of fruit and greens, and some tasty recipes - listen to your body. The sense of satisfaction is unlike the "waiting until full" feeling that people seem to wait for.

Also, it's normal in the beginning to want to eat more to maintain the same sense of "being full" as one felt on a cooked diet. Definitions of "full" and "satisfied" are completely altered on a RAW diet.

I eat as much as I want ... I've noticed, though, that if you stick with it for a few days, your appetite regulates itself because you are truly nourished. Now I have days where I am hungry and I eat more, and days when I'm not so hungry and I eat less. It all seems to balance out over the week.

If you are having trouble losing weight, you might want to start exercising or increase the amount of exercise you already do. When I began lifting weights, the pounds literally melted away. It was quite amazing!

Thank you Rawandnatural and Shona...I'm got the willingness to do what it takes...and yes, I will be 100% ....your words help me to commit to that...with all the holiday fare around I'm pleased to have waded through all the SAD food and do as well as I did...a few cooked vegetables...and a few whole grain COOKED cookies...and for the latter...did my stomach pay....I was a noisy ol' soul at the party and walked in fear of embarrassing myself (if ya know what I mean)...each time I've eaten cooked...it only reinforces how good I feel when I eat raw....

I'm so happy to have the support from you all....Elaine (I'm meeting my friend today who just started eating raw to eat at AuLac in Fountain Valley....Yum!!!!

My fruit smoothie (of which I just ate one) is usually about 400 grams, my salad 600 (I aim for 640, but whether it actually is that big depends on how many different veggies I have). Since a serving of many things is 100 g, that's more than two servings. I also snack on olives and nuts.

Are you eating coconut oil? I added that to my diet and without making any other mofications, I've been losing weight. More slowly than I'd like but it is coming off so I can't complain. If I can't find a recipe to add it to I'll break off a tiny piece of a flax cracker or take a slice of apple or pear or whatever I have around and slather it on that. Some people eat it plain but I need to have it on something. I was told to eat 1 to 2 T. per day.

I'm eating as much as I want to, which for some reason doesn't seem to be much. I'm not limiting myself though.

Ditto! My appetite has definitely gone down.

Same here, the natural juiciness of the food must be doing it. And I don't place any restrictions on myself.

Perhaps the body is finally receiving actual food and not a "reasonable facsimile" thereof, that it's not screaming for "more of whatever"?

I tend to mostly just graze...that's what is easiest for me since I am often very busy and don't have time to sit down for an actual meal. I've heard that doing things that way is a bit easier on your digestive system (although I'm sure my lack of sitting down counteracts any benefits it might have...lol)

I eat till I am full but not stuffed. I do have to wait and listen to my body and eat slow enough. One day it may be 3 apples another day a serving may be just 2 apples plus 4 green smoothies.
