Okay, I attempted to make Alissa's crepes.

Let me explain- I used 5 banana's and mashed them well with a fork (rather than a food processor because mine is too loud this late at night). I have an old circle type dehydrater. I put banana mixture on the mesh sheet and set the temp to 115. No sooner than ten min. do I hear and see sparks. The banana's "sweated" and there was all this banana juice on the botton of the tray. And to think, I almost went to sleep with it on........................

Why did this happen and how do I fix it? I put the tray thing in the fridge because it's late and I need to go to bed. Help please!! :(

You put the mixture on the MESH sheet with the openings/holes in it? Or did you have it on the plastic, solid fruit roll tray?

If it was the mesh, then it seeped through...you have to put that on a solid tray that will hold it so it won't leak through. If it was indeed the fruit roll tray, then perhaps there are cuts or something in it that caused the leakage (?)

I have an Excalibur, but I also still have my round model...but mine has the fan, etc. in the lid so the bottom is just a tray. I'm glad you caught it in time!

Thank's for posting this. It's good to learn from past experiences. When I get a dehydrator I will remember this tip. I never knew that there was anything at the bottom that moisture could cause problems with. :o

Opps. You are right. I forgot that there was a solid plate like thing. I borrowed this from my mom and she didnt' have all the pieces. Woops. Hopefully I didn't ruin the thing. I'll try again- although it may be brown now.

Thanks! And to think, I don't even have a sprinkler system or anything in my townhouse. Imagine......I am just glad I stayed up to check this forum before heading off to bed. :)

Hmmmm.....now I am wondering if the onion bread was suppose to be dehydrated on that clear sheet for the circle dehydrater.....

Anything that is too wet should be on a solid sheet.

I just made my lemon rings and I used to put it on solid sheets but it's so thick that I did put it on the mesh so it would dry out faster - that's the only time I'd do that.

But stuff like crackers, really wet stuff like fruit rolls, purrees, even some breads you want to put on a solid sheet.
