Just living a raw vegan lifestyle will tighten sagging skin in time but you want to eat foods with higher silicon and/or sulphur conent. (In no particular order: tomatoes, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cucumbers onions, garlic, kiwis, apples, apricots, lettuce etc.). Also, stay hydrated. Drink water to keep your skin plump and moisturized. My skin was never that loos because I'm quite young but I had a little bit of sagging due to up and down weight loss and weight gain my whole life and after 6 months raw my skin has become very tight and supple and "perky" so I look forward to seeing future results as well. I think that cosmetic surgery is risky and unnatural but to each his/her own. If one is physically uncomortable and/or in pain and they feel they need cosmetic surgery to fix it, all power to them but it's a double edged sword and I think it all really depends on the person and the reasons. For loose skin I would try to see where a healthy raw lifestyle takes you first. You may be surprised with has trim and elastic you become.

I don't think any food in particular would tighten your skin. I don't personally like cosmetic surgery but I suppose in some cases it is needed. I have loose skin on my upper arms and around my middle after having a baby. Mine doesn't seem to be going away but it's not so extreme I'd consider surgery.

Dry skin brushing can help tighten skin. There are couple links on the benefits and how to do it... on the fasting support thread.
Just scroll way down... the first post to Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing.

It will tighten up (at least a little bit and I'm sure more than that). Staying hydrated is the main key but you automatically get more water from fruits and veggies so just drink enough water to make you feel good. Give it some time as well. I started noticing much perkier breasts and tighter more supple skin at about 4-5 months of 100% raw with no slip ups, but again, everyone has a different body and time frames for adjustments/improvements. Keep up the great work.

Also a little tip, all fruits and veggies contain silicone because they have water laden plant cells but as a little way to guage for more: Foods rich in silicon will have little round, transparent bead-like granules that are squishy and supple. (think of the tiny bits that make up the flesh on the inside of a tomato) and foods that contain sulphur will have a stronger, more heady flavor or even a bit of a spicy taste and of course, they will taste a bit sulphrous. Think of garlic and onions and even cabbage. Oh I forgot to mention mushrooms as well. Sulphur basically aids in the formation and strengthening of collagen/elastin/connective tissues in the body. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that the loose skin has actually still has some excess fat in it, which makes the skin hungs down, so the only way to get rid of it is to lose the excess fat. I defnitely noticed that as I progress in my raw, the fat goes away, and my skin looks tighter and tighter.

Ooh yes I forgot to mention that. I dry brush as well and it does wonders too. I don't do it more than once a week though because I forget so I know it is mainly my diet.

I used to be 210 pounds after I had my son.
When you go from 125lbs to 210.. your skin goes wonky!
Im 138 now but loosing all that weight left extra skin on my upper thys, the back of my upper arms, upper breasts and also in the tummy area.
I have been to the gym plenty since and it has helped but I consulted with my family doctor and he said no ammount of exercise can fix the upper layer of skin. I can always tone the muscles beneath my skin but once skin has lost its elasticity there is no going back. Even with surgery there is no guarantee that things will be normal. Sometimes things rott and look worse than before.
My advice to you would be to do what I do. focus on toning instead of straight cardio. tone tone tone!!! Do several reps and increase your weights each week. Im up to 60lbs on my legs for 20 mins. :)
Keep trying. It wont "fix" things but you will see some improvement. ;)

Skin really does repair and renew with more elasticity than before. The skin is a living, healing organ and it seriously does go back into shape. Likely not exactly what it was before but when you get optimum nutrition and excercise the skin will eventually heal and become strong and elastic again.

I sure hope so! :D I've been raw 1 week.. woopie lol.. but I have seen a change. I feel lighter in my clothes. Imagine 8-9 months from now? I dont think my skin will change but if it does that would be amazing! :)

Of course your skin will change. Your entire body, mind and soul will change ( I guarantee it) and it will be for the better. Just you watch. Get ready for the beginning of the beautiful rest of your life. Just remember that raw returns the body to it's most natural, pure state of health and supple skin is part of that. Don't doubt it, you'll be surprised, trust me! Enjoy (you're doing great BTW, a week is an accomplishment you know!) :)

Skin grows. We are always regenerating new skin cells.

You can also use light weights to help. That's what I'm doing. I went through menopause and my armskin lost a lot of elasticity.

Push ups help. Even simple ones where you are on your knees work. Or against the wall.

Downward dog and other yoga poses that put weight on the arms.

If you don't have weights, use those unused soupcans. Just hold one above your head and SLOWLY bend your elbow so your hand drops BEHIND, then straighten it to work that area. I stabilize that arm with my other hand. It's difficult to explain. Check out some websites that show weight exercises. When you get more muscle there, it will burn the fat and tone the skin.

Another one is where you hold the weights straight down, then bring them up out to the sides, than back down. Work SLOWLY and carefully. Maybe do 8 reps, then rest, then repeat, then rest, then repeat for a total of 3 cycles.. (We're talking 1 or 2 pound weights here)

oh yeah... what do you think about cosmetic surgery?

I don't think about it at all. Our bodies were made to protect the insides. Every time they are cut open, they make the insides very vulnerable... not to mention the side effects of the anesthesia and drugs that are used to counteract infection.

I read somewhere that after 2 years raw your skin will tighten up. This was meant as advisement for people who are losing hundreds of pounds and have more than a cosmetic loose skin problem. Cosmetic surgery? Well I heard that once you start doing that you get married to it 'cause you have to keep doing it every couple of years.....for the older crowd. I have had necessary surgeries and I would never consider cosmetic . . . ever!

I disagree 100% with your doctor.

I have had 3 children. All were over 8 pounds. I'm only 5'3" and until I hit menopause never weighed over 120. I now weigh 140, which is more than I ever weighed pregnant.

Each time I had a child, my stomach was VERY stretched out, but within 3 months, I was back into a bikini with VERY tight skin.

Now that I"m older, my skin is losing elasticity and I've got yucky cellulite lumpy junk around the middle. But as I stay on raw, it's going away. And exercising my upper arms really does seem to be helping.

Our bodies regenerate themselves on a constant basis. This slows down as we age, but not completely.

I believe if you work at it, you can tighten up your skin.
SEE yourself the way you want to be, every day.
Believe it and thank your body!
It will happen. :D

I started this journey with almost 200 lbs to loose (I've lost 22 so far) and I am believing that I will not need cosmetic surgery to remove the excess skin.

Recent thinking is that all that loose skin is nothing more than fat. Over time, with a decline in food (caloric) intake, the fat will be gone and the skin will tighten up.

An example of proof of this is illustrated in photos of the survivors of the Holocaust. All were boney thin with extremely tight skin. Starvation diets do work.

I have lost between 70 and 80 lbs and I have loose skin around my middle. I have looked into cosmetic surgery, but I am too chicken to go through it. Apparently, I also am too chicken to cut another 400 calories a day out of my diet to finally discharge that fat out of my body and tighten up that flesh. Although it has progressively tightened up over the last few years... but it is such a slow process. I now have sharp and boney cheekbones, but a roll around my middle.

Personally, I would focus on loving yourself as you are. I meditate and find it helps my self esteem a lot. It is the human condition to be insecure and have self doubt. Just realize that and try to let it go. I am finding that eating raw helps my attitude and sense of well being. Things on the outside may change or stay the same but it is my response to them that can change. And I find raw food is helping me stay Zen about whatever is going on, good or bad. So, eat raw and cultivate your inner power and peace before going under the knife. If you don't feel whole now how will you feel whole after surgery? Instead there will be another problem or imperfection to fix. It is a vicious cycle. Trust me.
