I'm not Italian but I'm interested in the Feast of Seven Fishes that is traditionally held on Christmas Eve in Italy, and have been trying to think of a raw version.

These are all the raw seafood dishes I can think of:

Alissa's salmon pate
Alissa's crab cakes
Faux Salmon loaf
Juliano's gordon's fish patties
the Passover fish-dish
the many mock tuna salads

Has anyone made any of these and what do you think of them?
Do you know of any others?
I think Juliano's pumpkin seed cheese tastes like tuna but I haven't eaten tuna in over a decade so I may be completely wrong.

As far as I know there aren't any raw version of the fish dishes usually eaten for the feast - cod, mussels etc

I make Alissa's Mock Salmon Pate often ... and I've made RAWvolution's Tuna salad recipe, it was very good ... in fact, I have a SAD friend who keeps asking me when I'm going to make it again ... :)

Dulse adds a seafood flavor to pates and I love adding dill to my toona.

Spread it on flax seed crackers
Stuff it in celery
Stuff it in a tomato
Stuff it in a red pepper

Lightly marinade mushrooms ( I use Braggs for this & H2O but I know over the years this has been taken out of Raw diets) I do this to soften & salt the Mushrooms

add grated ginger & curry ( to taste) ( this is like the SAD OLDBAY used on Seafood it has lots of salt)

a dash of olive oil & ACV
I add kelp or / crushed RAW Nori/ or Dulce

you got a Shell fish sub ( like an oyster)

Hope that helps

the piece de resistance....

Samuel Wilson's Sole Florentine, using young coconut meat as the "fish" with some savory seasonings rolled around a spinach etc. filling. Impressive.

wow that sounds amazing!
what do you eat them with? I guess they could be placed on a bed of seaweed or spaghetti.
Thankyou. I'll definately try that.

I can't buy young coconuts where I am but I can almost taste it from your description. Thanks.

yep...I love the RAWvolution mock tuna...but I've had to amend it for my partner who hates too much garlic. Also, in Ohio it's hard to find the young coconuts so I just substitute pure water sweetened with a bit of agave...works like a charm.

I haven't tried Alissa's salmon pate...sounds like a winner for tomorrow night to celebrate my last final of the semester!!! :D
