Or is it possibly the change in diet? Either way, it's quite obnoxious. :p

I would say change of diet or maybe you have an allergy to a certain nut.

Not nuts themselves, generally, but combining them with other foods, notably fruits. Nuts are difficult for the body to break down, and are typically in the system 4-14 hours after they're eaten. Their presence in the digestive tract holds up the digestion of foods eaten after or with them, especially fruits since fruits either digest or ferment very quickly. If digestion is held up, bacteria show up to decompose (eat) the food, and it is the waste products of their metabolism that we experience as 'gas'. This is why it's wise to leave nuts for the last meal of the day, so that nothing will be eaten on top of them. Bad combining doesn't bother everyone, as it sometimes takes several weeks or months of eating raw before problems are noticed, as the body becomes more vital and (therefore) sensitive. You may want to start eating nuts with greens, celery or non-sweet fruits rather than mixing them with sweet fruits.

I have trouble with certain nuts. Can't eat more than a small handful. Whether I combine them or eat them alone.. Mostly trouble with cashews and pistachio's. Again, too many is big overload on my system. Gassy and stomach ache.

Hi! Nuts make me gassy.... I noticed this because I had not been eating much of them for a while, and then I had some nut based food on Thanksgiving, and got really gassy!!
