I just got David Kleins book "Self healing Colitis & Cohn".
His approach is so much less radical then I tought it would be.
You just eat what he calls "the healing diet" for a few weeks untill you stomach heals then transition to eating a normal raw food diet.(75-100% raw) He does stress the importance of proper food combining, exercise and rest.
On the healing diet you are not allowed to have any fat or insoluble fibre.
So its is just fruits & vegetable juices. Cooked veggies like potatoes & squashes are also allowed in limited quantities.
I am not sure I got the right book and this is the right diet for me. I don't have Colitis & Cohn, I do have digestive problems and Ic (which is aggrivated by fruit). I figure if it heals the digestive system it might work for me too.
Does it make sense?
The diet that is usually recommended for Ic does not allow any fruits or anything sweet at all. I tried it for a few days last year, it made the symptoms a somewhat better, but it also made me so depressed that I decided to stop. Doing the "regular raw" did not help my Ic or digestive issues one bit, but it does wonders for my mood.
I just wish there was a diet that made everything better!
