I just got David Kleins book "Self healing Colitis & Cohn".
His approach is so much less radical then I tought it would be.
You just eat what he calls "the healing diet" for a few weeks untill you stomach heals then transition to eating a normal raw food diet.(75-100% raw) He does stress the importance of proper food combining, exercise and rest.

On the healing diet you are not allowed to have any fat or insoluble fibre.
So its is just fruits & vegetable juices. Cooked veggies like potatoes & squashes are also allowed in limited quantities.

I am not sure I got the right book and this is the right diet for me. I don't have Colitis & Cohn, I do have digestive problems and Ic (which is aggrivated by fruit). I figure if it heals the digestive system it might work for me too.
Does it make sense?

The diet that is usually recommended for Ic does not allow any fruits or anything sweet at all. I tried it for a few days last year, it made the symptoms a somewhat better, but it also made me so depressed that I decided to stop. Doing the "regular raw" did not help my Ic or digestive issues one bit, but it does wonders for my mood.

I just wish there was a diet that made everything better!

I would suggest giving it a try, I mean if it sounds good to you. I think eating a diet of all fruits and vegetables can be very healing.....just take things slowly, make sure you get enough food and exercise, and give everything you try a long enough chance. I think with time your digestive problems can probably get better on raw, especially with a very well food combined, clean diet.

good luck and I hope everything works out for you

Thanks LunarFey,

I am going to try it for the next 2 weeks or a months.
I am really hoping it will work.

Another Ic diet that gets really positive reviews consists of non-starchy veggies and animal products. You guys can understand why I don't want to do it!
If the high fruit diet does not get me any results I may have to go that route.
I just want to be well! Do you think one month is a fair trial period? There should be some improvement during this time if the diet is working!

aggravated by fruit? Sounds like my condition. What is IC? I'm not familiar with the term. Can you explain it and the symptoms you have? I've been trying to narrow down what my problem is, and every time I think I've got it nailed down, it changes slightly and nothing I've tried seems to work.

Basically, now it seems like if I eat too much sugary fruit, I get bloated and gassy, which seems to put pressure on my sacro-illiac joint, causing pinched nerves in my lower back. I fear that I'm starting to suffer from some long-term nerve damage here, as my legs and back are becoming numb. Yikes! Also, I've been 100% raw for nearly a year, with little or no relief of the symptoms. Narrowing it down to sugary fruit was hard enough. Now I need to figure out how to reverse the symptoms.

Thanks in advance.

IC is short for Interstitial Cystitis which is basically a chronic bludder infection. (execept no infection is detected in the standard tests). The symptoms are frequent trips to the bathroom and pain in the lower abdomen. It does not sound too bad, but it can get quite bad when you have to get up several times at night. Sometimes I can't fall asleep because of it.

It seems to get a lot better when I don't eat any fruits. I completely avoid all citrus fruit. Other fruits are ok sometimes, other times not so good.
I does seem a little strange trying to cure a condition which is agrivated by fruits by eating an all fruit diet!
