Oh, Pam!

Congratulations to Fizzy and you!

Fizzy told me she would be due in a few weeks at the time of her reading and she said she would have six puppies. (3 girls and 3 boys) Guess she decided to have one more....he he!

Thank You for letting me know!

Have any pictures? I would love to see them!

Take care and have fun,

Pam :)

Puppy pics!!! Yayyyyyy!!!! We Want Puppy Pics!!!

Thanks you two. I'm glad you like the book. My mom's death in May sure spurred me into getting it done. Smoothies are such an easy way to feed the elderly as well as ourselves. IF he caretaker had been feeding her smoothies instead of that store bought, doctor recommended poison-in-a-can she'd be around today I'm sure. Ah well. Her death inspired me to get it done and hopefully some folk who care-take the elderly will use it as a guide to feeding them.

Pam and Pam ~ thank you again for your reviews. Much appreciated.

Thanks, Pansy. She had them the last day of November. I just took some pictures and will try to post them. I still plan to send you pictures of the other dogs. Things have been a little overwhelming lately and I haven't taken new pictures yet.

Yes, Revvell. It would be wonderful if everyone taking care of the elderly got your book. It would help them have healthier, longer, and happier lives. It would be great also for people taking care of children. Their behaviors and learning would improve and your recipes are definitely things the kids would like.

Adorable puppy pictures! Ahhh...

And yes, anyone who is caregiver for an elderly person please do give them smoothies! My mom loves them, it is the only way I can get fruit or greens into her at all. She can't see the color so the greener the better!

I cared for her at home full time for 4 1/2 years, she is now in a nursing home but I still take her fruits (cut up really small so she can chew them) and we share them for our afternoon snack. I plan to take smoothies too, I can see the staff wanting to try them too!

Glad your new book is out and I know it will help so many people!

If you can get the staff into making them for themselves AND they can do it for the patients, that place will be booming!!! I spoke to a group in a residential facility about 9 a.m. one day. It was so sad. One woman told me they were all drugged. For the most part I might as well not even have been there. They were all nodding after "breakfast".

Glad your new book is out and I know it will help so many people!

Mom is almost 86 and really her biggest problem is the old "use it or lose it" error so many people make. Exercise, our food choices, using our minds, socializing, so many things that could have helped her senior years be so much more productive and happy but I have to remember they are her choices and were not mine! I cared for her as long as I could at home, by the time the lifting, her falling, her memory problems all became too difficult to deal with at home I had such a hard decision to make but am content with it now that we are all adjusted.

Yes, most of the people where mom is are very drugged and out of it, the food "menu" is totally SAD and most of the staff (who are such kind and loving people!), are overweight too. I control the meds mom is on, (her MD is very receptive to my ideas) and I've requested certain food choices for her too trying to work around their options and what she will eat.

Oh are so right, if they'd all be doing their daily green smoothies the huge changes that would take place! Maybe I should take my Vitamix in and give it a try! Imagine if one day the staff came in for a new shift and the residents were all up dancing a jig, all due to their green smoothies!

This experience has certainly made me look at my own aging process very closely, and smoothies are a huge part of my daily diet and routine.

For me as well. My mom was 94 when she died of, bascally, malnutrition... but then her caretaker didn't eat fruits/vegetables so, I have no idea what he was feeding her. I invited her to live with me yet.. *shrugs* her choice to stay in Ct.

Funny thing about it is, she was the one who introduced me to green smoothies. She gave them to us when we were kids. I remembered this as I was putting the book together and after she had died. I've always remembered she was the one who taught me that food came before drugs which she was not into at all.

Suggestion for your mom although I don't know if you live close enough to do this yet, if you do.... Make up a huge batch of green smoothies daily. Separate them into 3-5 servings. When she's hungry, have whoever feeds her take one out of the fridge and give her that.

I know these places have limitations on what they can/will do yet... just a thought if it's doable.

The one I recommend is the Vita-Mix. The K-Tec is highly rated as well. Alissa uses a different one in her vids but I don't think she was making green smoothies at the time. Not sure. She does sell the Vita-Mix. I think for breaking up the greens one needs a high-quality blender. A food processor is good for the fruit creams ("ice creams").

Pansy, You're welcome! They really are cute. I will give them a hug for you.

Cinnamon, That's great that you are bringing smoothies to your mom. They helped my mom a lot. My mom is 80 and she had a colostomy in the past that was repaired, but she still had to eat a lot of fiber cereal, etc. until she tried green smoothies. She was so happy that they took care of her and tasted much better than the other stuff.

Wow, 94... if we all knew we'd make it to that age! And for her to be the one to introduce you to green smoothies as a child, that is so cool. I wish she'd have come to live with you, it would have been your turn to make the smoothies for her that she'd made for you as a child!

I do live close to mom, her nursing home is just a few miles from me. I can check into the possibility of making smoothies for her that the staff can give her, like you mentioned with the limitations on what can or can't be done I'll have to ask some questions and see what they say. Of course now I also have her resisting drinking liquids now that she is in Depends, she is so embarrassed when they have to be changed and some days she refuses to drink! Bless her heart, as she says... "Honey, it sucks to get old!"

Laura here's a suggestion - get a case of wide mouth mason jars and the plastic screw on lids that go with it. You can get pint or quart jars. That way all they have to do at the home is add a straw and give it to her.

You could be just like Victoria with her Roseburg study!

I love those wide mouth jars, I have the pints and quarts and even a half-gallon one that a friend gave me. I just love using glass.

Revvell, that looks like an awesome compilation - I can tell you really worked your tail off to get that together!

Hey Sharon! Great idea, and I love the mason jars and use them myself but I haven't seen the plastic screw on lids any place? Do they look like the metal ones that come in the cases of jars? My metal lids seem to look rusty to me, I didn't think they'd do that?

It was always so cute at home when I'd tell mom how green the smoothies were and she'd look at them and shrug her shoulders because with her eyesight she couldn't see the color, then drink them right up!

Yes, I like that idea... I'll do my own nursing home Roseburg study in Poulsbo! I could really get into that!

I found mine at Walmart, they are a one piece thick white plastic screw on lid. Sold in boxes of twelve.

I would not mind being the smoothie delivery service to the nursing homes, but then again it could be a health issue without making it there. Maybe an idea! How would we touch base with the families to present these ideas? I wonder if the nursing home would let the family members know: "We have partnered with a health conscious person who creates tasty, healthy, natural smoothies. If interested in knowing further you can contact her at....... There will an additional charge of $100 added to the monthly bill to accommodate one month of smoothies, one time per day offered."

The nursing home may not be interested in promoting this as they may feel threatened to lose some long term patients, but they should not worry as there can be a trail waiting in line.

Just a thought, but maybe a reality too.

There would be a concern about insurance issues as well. Can you imagine all those old folk going through detox? Also, they'd probably want health officials to do a home inspection. You'd have to get a release from their next-of-kin on this plus, do the smoothies in the facility which has already been cleared. That's only the beginning.

My suggestion is, at first, start with who one knows. When others see a difference have them invite you in... with my book, of course on which I do offer quantity discounts of 10 or more. :D

That is a fact. Star just posted in the abundance thread about her bf doing some simple feng shui stuff and how his prosperity was enhanced. I found doing simple qigong movements make a major difference in my health.

Same with eating raw foods.

So, movement, raw foods, a bit of awareness, opening to receptivity and life is beautiful, isn't it? :)

Yes, I thought of that as I read this and I've DONE the MC. Didn't think about it when I made it though. Just put some lemon juice in a jug, added water, then some agave to sweeten and a pinch of cayenne.

Anyway, it's very refreshing and it does cleanse the kidneys. Add some green smoothies for health-building and it's a wonder-filled process.

Contacting Whole Foods in Glendale, Ca. to set up a book-signing. I'll find out their policy on that for when others get their books up and ready to go. The contact person is on vacation. The book is great. Visually very appealing too which is key for me. My appetite isn't good sometimes and this book made me wanna EAT RAW! I wanted to lick the pages. ;)
