frozen bananas gone bad

Every time I have recently tried to freeze a banana it has turned all brown and tastes like it went bad....in the freezer. I thought I had left the banana in there too long (although that had never happened before) but I left one in over night and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why? Could my freezer temperature have been turned down or something?

I want to make some banana coconut ice cream for the family (possibly with crumbles of RawPriestess's brownies on top.

make sure your banan is ripe, peel first, then place in a plastic baggie and freeze, should last a long time, over a month or more.

I've found through trial and error that the best way to store them is to wrap them individually in saran wrap. Hmm....maybe in the US you call it something else....it's plastic wrap anyhow...you know, the kind that you wrap yourself in and answer the door when your husband gets home from work... :D

K, never mind.

Anyhow, ya. Wrap them on their own so the air can't get at them.

I had the same problem and I found out the temperature in my freezer was too high, once I set it to a lower temperature they froze faster and did not brown any more.

Ummm, I'm not sure what you are doing. Are you freezing, then thawing and eating???? ICKkkkkk!

After freezing it needs to be blended with something.... in a smoothie or fruit cream.

They do turn brownish unless you're going to sprinkle with lemon juice first methinks.

You are not alone. Mine do the same thing. I always read how amazing banana ice cream is and everytime I make it, it is gross. I have tried freezing by ziplock bags, saran wrap, cutting into little pieces first.

I guess try the temp. LOL

I would think the temp is not low enough then. Frozen bananas are ummm, frozen. Have a thermometer?
