A friend has a 14 year old son who had trouble during birth, and has a hemotoma that has been there since birth. It's sort of a knot on his head that won't go away. His doctor says it's like having blunt force trauma, and it gives him severe migraines. Because of this, he's on medication for them that he doesn't take daily, just when he actually gets a migraine. Two years ago, he was getting them three times per week and they were pretty extreme, I guess. There is no migraine medication for children, so he's on an adult prescription which gives him VERY nasty side effects. Apparently, in the way of medication, everything else has been tried and failed and this one med is the only one that actually gets rid of the migraines when he gets them, which is much less frequent now since starting this particular medication. But like I said, the side effects are BAD.

Because this is obviously not a food allergy or a toxin causing his problem, I'm wondering what can be done for him, if anyone knows. It appears to be a permanent thing in his life being that it's a birth injury. Anyone ever heard of this or have any ideas at all?

Thanks in advance.
