I've just had raw corn for the first time. It's delicious! Tastes much better than cooked corn. One question though. When you are cutting the corns off the cob, how do you keep them from flying all over the place? Half my kitchen table ended up being covered in raw corn. :)

I've heard other people say that too ... I don't have that problem. I stand the ear of corn on end in a bowl and just saw the knife (a sharp knife) back and forth down the ear ... it just falls into the bowl :)

I cut the corn cob in half and that seems to help that issue a lot....

Sorry, I usually eat mine straight off the cob, or if I'm using it for a recipe, I just stand it up on a plate. Good luck next time. AND yes, I don't understand why people cook it now?

Don't cut it. ;)

I love eating it right off the cob too.
But you can also use a very sharp knife and don't forget to scrape the cob after you cut the kernals off! This is how creamed corn is made... just don't cook it!
Lastly, you can buy a little tool to do this in most places that sell canning supplies. It's round, with two handles. You put it over the upright cob and push down and it takes the kernals right off!
But.. I'd just use a sharp knife :D

I use a big flat pasta bowl. The kind used for serving pasta to the entire table. I simply hold the ear upright in the center of the bowl and use a knife to cut downwards, cutting the kernels off. I never have any flying all over. My daughter likes to eat it right off the cob but I can't stand this. I always seem to get little bits shoved between my teeth and it's so hard to get them all out.

Floss!! (hee hee)
That just seems to push it in further. My teeth are really close together and I also have a permanent retainer on the top front ones. I can't get floss in there.

I hate it when that happens!
