I tried to post a few minutes ago but it did not apply for some reason. I think it was either my Zone Alarm which I closed or the Phishing in IE7. Switched to Firefox and now this seems to be working OK.

I am a brand new newbie, first timer and very nervous. Even though I am determined I love Japanese and French food (esp. cheese). I gave in today to a Japanese Buffet.

Since December is typically the month where many parties are held I am worried about this. I have already been invited to a few parties and am unsure how to inform the host that I will not be eating cooked foods.

At home my wife is somewhat against Raw foods as she believes it leads to a lack of protein. I intend on proving her wrong. How is the best way to deal with parties in your experiences? When you eat cooked foods, how long does it take to digest it or what effects does it have on a person who is on Raw foods?

Thank you and I look forward to learning lots.

Welcome to the board
I just logged on to your site but it told me that I needed to allow blocked content and I was not prepared to do that until we are properly introduced.
Regarding the parties I would suggest that you fill your tummy before you go.
Regarding the digesting times. It will depend on many things
The state of your digestive sysyem and how clean it is.
The food concerned
The food combining. Typically it is as follows (all time in minutes)
Water 0 to 15
Juice 15 to 30
Fruit 30 to 60
Sprouts 60
Wheatgrass Juice 60 to 90
Most Veg 60 to 120

I am now wondering if this post was spam.
Any mod there to check this out for me. My computer is fairly safe as I have lots of safegaurds on and it warned me about this linked site.
Do not click on the link until it is cleared.

I checked out the link, no worries, and I thought it was spam too, with all that computer lingo, etc.

appears logit.

as far as parties go, I don't worry about explaining my food choices, or any choices to anyone, it is none of their business, what I choose to do.

I usually take a large garden salad tossed with lemon juice and olive oil and herbs, and some pine nuts and also a fruit salad too, that way I have plenty to eat myself, and people don't usually notice what you are eating unless you make a big deal out of it, and if they do, you just say, Oh, I love this salad, nuf said,

as far as your wife, she needs education, have her read this:

I intentionally have no Flash or Shockwave installed, so I got some "must install plugin" messages. I clicked on the gear and followed another link, and found a link to Mike Adams, the Health Ranger. So the site looks OK to me.

For parties, I suggest you do tell the host, and ask for (or bring a dish made with) avocados. Those are high in protein and fat, and a coctivore (sp?) is more likely to find a raw avocado than a raw nut.

Merci...

Thank you for all the feedback. Also, I really appreciate the suggeston about the salad. As I indicated I am a newbie so I will be a little more careful and cautious about posting. As far as my browser error, it now believe it was due to my IE Privacy Keeper. No Spam or concern about others privacy on my part.

Domo.

Some raw people get sick on cooked food. My transition ongoing has taught me some of which cooked food is really bad for me - white (wheat) flour and cheese are guaranteed to make me ill (ish) the next day. It seems that the longer one is raw the more sick cooked food will make one.....I guess because you have cleansed your body enough that it recognizes the toxins in the cooked food. Somewhere I read that in response to cooked, especially meat, that the body prepares massive white blood cells for the invasion of cooked.....and that the body does not do that in response to raw. Wish I remember where I had read it.

Welcome! My fiance is also against raw foods because he thinks they lack protein. If you come up with any creative ways of explaining this to your wife please let me know. JB gets a little stubborn sometimes but I hope with some persuasion he'll understand.

Good luck with the holiday partying. I've been drinking a BIG smoothie before going anywhere and then taking a piece of fruit with me just in case I want to cave into the cooked food craving! I'm also snacking on Lara Bars (www.larabar.com) to help me transition.

I have no way to help you with the holidays. Just like my self I dont see how I can eat only raw on christmas. My family and relatives will find it rude. Oh well. There is an entire year to catch up after holidays are over :p

If you want to eat cooked at Christmas then you should eat cooked but I do not see how anyone could consider it rude and if they do then they are the ones with the problem.
You do what you want to do and if that is cooked then so be it.
