I don't have a recipe, but I would TRY maraw's recipe (the raw table website) for chocolate chewies....maybe make them flat and make a "creme" with macs (or cashews) ground up, maybe with alittle water added and spread that between two cookies. Maraw's chocolate chewies are great all on their own... :D

Two small chocolate cookies with creme in the middle. Like a cookie sandwich.

mmmmm
I think almonds ground with equal amount of fresh medjool dates tastes like biscuits (cookies) so you could add cacao to make chocolate biscuits. I top my cakes with white nuts blended with lemon juice, water and a couple of dates, that could be the creme?

raweos. That's what the person called it. It may be Alex Malnisky - Raw guru. Not sure. Let us know what you find. Don't have time to research it for you at present.

The challenge is, getting that same texture, which is a big part of the oreo. It has to be super crunchy to counteract the creamy filling. and I'm not sure there are any super crunchy raw chocolate cookie recipes. You'd really have to dehydrate it till kindgdom come.
I have tried Blessing's Raweos. They did not taste good to me at all, and the whole family did not like them either. Didn't remind me of oreos either. They were overpoweringly carob and mushy.
Not trying to bring you down! I guess it's just one of those things, like bread, eggs, etc. that really has no true comparable raw substitute in texture and flavor.

I had some store bought raweos the other day. I agree - they are nothing like oreos. They taste ok, but not great. I don't think I'll buy them again.

The first time I made RP's brownies, I used the recipe before she corrected it so I used twice as much cocoa as it called for. I didn't add any water so the mixture was very dry. I pressed it into the pan, but when it came out it was very crumbly. Wouldn't hold together. But everyone still liked it and thought it tasted like those Oreo crumbles that you get as an ice cream topping. Now mind you, I've never liked Oreos. The texture of this was not the same as Oreos but the taste was the same, I think due to the extra chocolate.

You could have something there Julie. Double the cocoa in Raw Priestess' Brownie recipe add a little ground flax to hold it together and press it into very thin discs. Could roll into balls and then press down with the bottom of a coconut oil coated glass. Then dehydrate them TILL THE COWS COME HOME! :D

How about for the filling, the kind of coconut and honey or agave mix that Sharon uses for mint meltaways (without the mint of course, add vanilla instead) and then putting them between two of RP's brownies, made into flat disks and dehydrated. I think it would work. What do you think?

If you dehydrate honey it will melt, but agave may work.
Or you could dehydrate just the cookie discs, then when done, fill them and freeze them until eaten. Honey hardens better in the freezer.

When I make O-raw-o's
I do this
1 cup walnuts
1 cup dates (pitted)
3/4 cup cacao
blend in food processor
make into 24 balls
smash balls flat into 1/8" thick on teflex sheet and dehydrate until they are fairly dry, then flip over and continue drying until crisp
center
1/2 cup coconut meat
1/2 cup dates (pitted)
1" vanilla scraped
I would try to make this as stiff as possible, if I had to add a bit of coconut water or maybe orange juice to make it blend then I would, then you could dehydrate inside the cookie to thicken it, or maybe into rounds on a teflex sheet and then put inside the cookies,
this might work.

I have the filling for oreos!! I bought coconut creme from onelucky duck (alissa sells it now too, i think), mix the coconut creme with agave and vanilla....taste just like the middle of an oreo! in fact, when they started selling the coconut creme, the advertisement for it said "craving oreos?"

I think Rawpriestess's brownies made into flat little circles and dehydrated for crunch filled with either the coconut cream suggestion from Light&happy or a banana blend placed between the cookies before dehydration would work nicely.

For those who asked about calories in a raw oreo, There is aprox 80-100 cals depending on how large you make them. With the cashews and coconut the cal add up but if its all raw, have a couple. Its way better for you than the store crap :p
