A salad just isn't a salad without ranch dressing and croutons. *sigh* I saw some recipes for 'ranch' but they all contain nuts and we have severe peanut and tree nut allergies in the house. Is there a way to make a good substitute for ranch with out nuts? And what would be good to replace croutons?

Thanks!

I am so with you on the wheat and dairy addiction.

you can replace croutons in RAW, by trotter, they have a crouton in there, that I hear is great, or you could make the onion bread dried to crisp, or any cracker of your choice, with herbs or spices and toss that into any salad
as far as the ranch, Rawkinlocs has an excellent RAWnch dressings, let me see if I can find the recipe.

Rawkies dressing is in there too, and yes they have nuts, but you could use coconut or seeds, or if you are allergic to peanuts, you may not be allergic to other nuts, also some people with nut allergies, can eat raw nuts, but you will need to decide on that.

basically its for the creaminess, so you could even use zucchini or squash or apple to make it thick or smooth, but the spices is what makes ranch dressing so good, plus of course the dairy addiction.

it can take a few days to get rid of that one, it's plagued me for years.

hope you find at least one dressing that works for you.

I agree bits of crackers would be good croutons. Or dehydrated bits (mushroom/onion/courgette/eggplant)

Avocado or Coconut cream could make the dressing.
Can you have seeds? If so seeds can replace nuts in any recipe. Sunflower seeds would probably be best for this.

So basically, find something creamy and season it till it taste like ranch. ;)
Seeds might work if I could find some not cross contaminated with nuts or peanuts.

I haven't tried any of the raw breads or crackers yet, but that sounds good. I'll have to try it out.

Thanks guys!
