Hello Everyone!!

Trying not to get too stressed gettin' everything done.....Had some awful SAD cravings, but again, managed to work thru them... wow, this is really hard to stay RAW..... I started getting really hungry, so i just grabbed an avo, cut it up with a tomato, squeezed two key limes on it and added sea salt, nori, and sesame seeds..... YUMMY.... now i feel satisfied and the cravings are gone :D

so far today:
green smoothie
avo with tomato and stuff in a bowl ....
.... now it's time for some flax crackers with alfredo spread and cut up tomato...... that should do it for mid-day!!

Hope you're all having a great RAW day....
Sharon in Colorado - love the song of the day.... I NEVER realized how inspirational Disco music was... THANKS for helping us revisit the Disco years

Peace and Joy!

Good morning all,

Woke up extra sore today despite (or maybe b/c of) my massage. So still no yoga. Maybe this afternoon.

Morn: you did so great! That is an extra challenge to sit at a formal dinner and not eat. That is what I am afraid of for next week. I guess I'm afraid of it in general with people I don't know well. I have another date tonight with the same guy...I am gonna try and pick a restaurant with good salad options! And definately tell him I'm vegan.

Breakfast: rolled oats from the website w/almond milk and mango
Lunch: going to a raw rest. w/my friend
dinner: will be out on my date!

Nine days is awesome. I have been remarking on that to myself. :D

Just tell them you are on a special diet and you are still a little full from lunch (eat before you go). Many will understand. But if you are in a real difficult spot do the best you can and don't worry about it. Eating some cooked food one day won't kill you.

It was a little ackward for me at the party cause of the attention on me and what I wan't eating but I got through it and was able to share a little bit about the raw diet I was on. The cool thing is when people see the positive health benefits in you they will generally give you the thumbs up. It is something most people want to have (self control) but don't so many people will admire you. And the date thing, if he likes you, it won't matter to him. I know many couples that eat differently. Who knows you might even be able to influence him over time. That is what is happening with me and my husband. He is still sad, however, he is trying to make healthier choices and is happy for my influence cause he can't do it alone.

You can make this event a positive one with a little extra planning and forethought. Best Wishes!

Did my abs of steel tape today and some house cleaning. I also will be doing some shopping later at the mall. I am in the middle of sprouting my chick peas to make red pepper hummus. Hopefully by tomorrow they will be ready. Can't wait to try to make it in my new vitamix. Last time I made hummus it totally almost killed my last blender. Foods eaten:

raw pastacios
tropical lime pie
banana

Later I will eat a salad when I go out to eat

Morn! I love your new avatar ... you look Beautiful on Raw!

I almost got the Yoga Booty Ballet DVD ... instead, I have a Core Rhythms DVD that is salsa dancing. It is still in the wrapper! I will open it tonight!

Last night, after I posted, I ate something I shouldn't have and my stomach told me about it all night! I will learn my lesson :D

Today I've eaten:

Pomegranet/Acai juice
RAWvolution tacos - using romaine leaves for the shell
TheRawTable's chocolate pudding with 1/2 banana ... yummmmmmmmmmm

Girlsmiley: All your colors inspire me! I LOVE olives! Where do I find true raw ones, and when I find them, what do I need to do to them to make them edible???
Thank you :D
Alissa sells raw olives ... http://www.alissacohen.com/shop/home.php?cat=5 ... since I've never had them before I don't know what you do with them. I've been eating the black olives you get in a can.
Has anyone had them before? Are they "ready to eat" or do they have to be rehydrated?

Thanks Morn for the encouragement!

I have seen raw olives...they come in a jar just like normal ones. I think they are ready to eat. They are just made differently. I bought some olives today from the store's olive bar...they were dried in the sun. So I am figuring they are raw. None of the others said they were dried in the sun. They look just like normal olives, but wrinklier.

Went to my favorite raw cafe. My friend and I go almost every weekend. Had a wheatgrass shot, a kale/sea veggie salad and an apple/blueberry/cranberry cobler. Am munching on some jicama right now. Will prob just eat dinner at home since we are going to see a band play and it doesn't start until 10. Plus I'm pretty full from lunch.

Well busy busy day... haven't had a chance to make any recipes as planned.. :( Ah well.

I've eaten:

green juice with kale, lemon, apple
banana-raspberry icecream
an apple

refried beans in nori with tomato and microgreens
refried bean mixture on kale leaves

salad of mixed greens, tomato and avocado..

whew. Lots of fats today.

It's good to see everyone still rawkin on..

Morn I love your new picture, abd Dreamrawalwz, it's great to see you in here too.. and doing awesome with 100%! (If only I could lose 6 lbs in a day after a stretch of cooked eating  )

Hello everyone.

I'm existing.

I'll be restarting Raw soon. Right now I'm trying to even get back to vegan. I need to do another cleanse. I need to just start. It's been a rough couple of weeks. Various reasons, but I haven't been strong. I've been strong on the outside, but not on the inside. I've put up this front that everything is ok, that nothing bothers me. I guess I'm trying to protect the ones I love from worrying or having added stress in their own stressful lives.

I do great in the morning then emotions overcome me and I end up screwing it all up. At least I'm not binging and purging. That's the one thing that's saving me.

I'm in for the rest of December. Although special people in my life hate when I do these cleanses, I think I need to just start off strict or else I'm going to end up back on this path.

I hope you're all well, and I'll catch up reading in the next few days.

Coriander74, so glad to see you :) ......I'm sorry that you have been thru the ups/downs of emotions. Know that you are in the company of loving friends and if you ever need to share your thoughts,,,,,,,,please do. * hugs * ;)

Speaking of emotions, I broke down in my car wailing like a banchee and luckily it is foggy outside so other drives could not see my disheveled face

**********************************************
I hope that EVERYONE is finding FUN & EXCITEMENT with RAW eating.......it can definately take us to places we never imagined. Alissa has mentioned before, that RAW will bring up past emotions, experiences etc. We must allow these changes to take place in order to get to the next level. Please feel free to share your struggles to make it thru :)

Won't you take me to RAWtown? :D

Morning everyone,

CORIANDER: You're here trying again - that's all that matters! Start a new and don't look back. It's really important you start now so you don't go back to binging and purging! But try not to be too hard on yourself.

Date was fun. We just met for a glass of champagne then went to see the band. I told him I was vegan and I got the "but you eat fish?". In his defense it's prolly b/c I said I liked sushi...but I meant veggie rolls.

I think my body is eliminating stored up stuff. I keep having to go #2..emergency style. And not to be too gross, but I think more is coming out than I've been eating lately. I guess this is a good thing.

Breakfast: granola I bought at the raw cafe, almond milk, mango

Voyager: That is so amazing!!! Wow - you're melting away! I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow.

Just made Alissa's rawviolis and an apple crisp (from Jennifer Cornbleet's book). I'm pooped. Sipping away on a green smoothie...my first in ages. I really suck at them, but this one is ok. An orange, a carrot, some kale and a touch of agave. I was seriously craving fresh, simple vegetables. I guess I can see how people eat more simply the longer they are raw. Off to go find some good smoothie recipes...

I have been doing really well with 2 things: eating raw, and not eating just because I'm bored. The latter is a big change, emotional eating.. and I have been going hours with zero anxiety about oh I need to eat something ..

Today I had

many bowls of OJ-raspberry-banana pudding/smoothie

an apple

bowl of marinated, slightly wilted kale and zucchini

Been busy, starting to decorate the house a bit for the holidays and starting volunteering this week too.

Hope you all have a marawvelous monday :D

Good morning everyone....MISSLINDA, I'M HERE!! I had an incredibly busy Sunday! Our church had our family Christmas party, complete with "family" volunteer entertainment! The meal was catered, by our own cook at the church....homestyle....everyone LOVES her cooking.....except me! There was not...and I mean NOT one fresh anything on the table...so I did not eat. However, my family knows me, and they just smile at my willpower, wishing they had as much. TRUTH is, I was not the LEAST bit tempted with the CANNED green beans, OVERCOOKED corn on the cob, potato salad.... (Not to mention the fried chicken...I've never liked even as a child!!!)
Anyway, yesterday I was seriously jones-n' for some chocolate so I found a recipe that I printed off the board...it was "fudge" and it used almond butter (I had to make 1/2 almond, 1/2 cashew butter ;) ) and some agave (I used honey) and cocoa, etc. AND IT WAS WAYYYY BETTER THAN SAD FUDGE!! So yesterday meals were totally RAW:
B: banana
Lunch: the end of the garam masala gobi ;)
D: fudge!! :D (by the time I got home last night, I was NOT that hungry, so I only at alittle!)

Today, I'm not sure what I'll have. I keep forgetting to soak my buckwheat and barley...I really gotta do that because I have meals waiting!! I have some avos that are waiting to be used.
Breakfast: green smoothie...who here said they were having trouble...they posted they put a carrot in there??? I always put in bananas, and other fruit...like berries of some kind. I guess the idea is to get in the GREENS!!
Lunch: chili
Dinner: salad at the mall, shopping with my mother-in-law, mom, sister, and sister-in-law...FUN, FUN!
Ya'll have a RAWKIN day!!

Girlsmiley chocolate milk!! I gotta find that!
Being where'd you get the recipe for refried beans....my old sad favorite!!
Vegan Princess What kind of apples work best, or does it matter...I would love some apple crisp right now!!
Sharon: Your songs RAWK!
I know I forgot to mention someone....but I love reading what ya'll are up to...you keep me motivated!! Thanks so much.....

Misslinda when you make dandelion sun tea, where do you get dandelions??? Are you picking them??? Just wondering. I know dandelion greens are really good for you, but I'm cautious about picking them out of my yard, not knowing what's on them ya know...maybe I could transplant some to my garden area....WHAT DO YOU DO???

Tvillemom: It was moi who put the carrot in! LOL. I broke down and ordered a juicer last night. I suck at the green smoothies...but I will keep trying. The carrot actually didn't taste that bad. Since it was with an orange and kale. Prob would have been nasty w/other fruit. Also, it doesn't matter what kind of apples you use for the crumble. I use sweet ones, not baking ones since it is not getting baked. I was amazed at how great the crumble topping tasted..it even tastes like there is butter in there somehow. Do you have the recipe?

Hi all,

I had my crumble for dinner last night.
Had some granola, almond milk and 1/2 banana for breakfast. Brought some yam chips for a snack and will have a salad for lunch and prob more fruit in the afternoon. I'm going to go to yoga today. My neck is still anoying me, but it is getting better.

Let's start off the week strong!! Keep rockin...

I suck at the green smoothies...but I will keep trying.
I don't even remember where I saw this, I think it may be in Living on Live Food ... anway, I saw a recipe for a smoothie with 1 banana, 2 oranges, and 1/2 c berries.

So, my "old standby" Green Smoothie is 1 banana, 2 oranges, 1/2 c frozen berries (I usually use blueberries), and then add greens.

Today, it was a modified version ... 1 banana, 1 small papaya, 1/2 c frozen blueberries, and 6 romaine leaves ... adding water to desired consistency :D

girlsmiley

Girlsmiley chocolate milk!! I gotta find that!
It is in Sharon's post at the top of page 10 :D

I didn't have any cashews so I ground up some almonds in my flax seed grinder ... it was still yummy :p

Yesterday I had to teach the kids at church so it was an early day. Then I went to a fruit market that is on the way home that I have been wanting to go to for some red peppers that I heard were inexpensive there (1.19 a pound which is wonderful compared to meijer at 3.99 a pound). But the cool thing was that on the way in this guy said he got a whole box of bananas for $2.00. So I rushed in and got one also (this box was big and heavy and I got a whole box of red apples too for $2.00). I couldn't believe it. I was so geeked. I guess I will be juicing a lot of apples for some fresh apple juice. I will also be freezing lots of bananas too for icecream and smoothies. I think I will do all of my produce shopping there from now on.

Then we went shopping and out to eat and didn't get home till almost 9:00 p.m. Wow did my feet hurt! Foods eaten:

salad at bigboys and few chuncks of watermelon, pineapple, honeydew
dinner salad at Lashish
banana, stawberry, orange smoothie
hummus with veggies (yellow pepper, carrots, celery)

MORN...I'm so jealous!! All those bananas...and peppers for 1.99/lb....they cost $2 EACH here! By the way, your exercising, and changes this 30 day challenge really inspire me!!
Vegan Princess I would try using spinach...and I always puree my spinach with alittle water before adding my fruit...then add frozen fruit and maybe even alittle honey! This smoothie is sooo good, my kids love it!! Also I'm going to get the ingredients to make a apple crispn this week...yum.
Girlsmiley Going to look for the chocolate milk recipe!! Thanks...

Thank you Girlsmiley, Being, Adrienne, Misslinda, Sharon in Colorado for noticing my new Avatar. I went to a Christmas party that night so I actually curled my hair and thought it would be a good day to take pictures (as I rarely have time any more for that).

The Voyager - A pound a Day Wow you Rawk!

Girlsmiley - The salsa tape sounds so fun. Let me know how it is. I love tapes you can dance with (it doesn't seem so much like exercise that way). Also congratulations on the salad bar thing at Ruby Tuesday. I went there the other night and caved to the honey mustard dressing (thinking that might not have sugar in it cause of the honey). The problem is you never know what they put in the prepared salad dressings. Did you juice squeeze fresh lemons on it?

Sharon - Thanks for keeping us moving with your songs. I love the Hustle!

Coriander74 - I have been thinking about you everyday hoping you would return and wondering what happened. So I am sOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you are back. You bring sunshine and a breath of life to these boards. :)
Welcome back my friend!!!!!! Sending You lots of cyber hugs and hope things get better for you soon!!!!

Misslinda - How is your foot?

Tvillemom - Thanks for your encouraging words. It took me awhile to find out about this store. Someone at work told me to go there and it is about 40 minutes from my home but I drive by it on the expressway on the way home from church (which is in Detroit). So maybe you too will find something more affordable too. I wish I could share some of these bananas with you cause I have way more than what I need. So I will probably bring some to
the people at work.

Hey, Morn - You are a lucky girl to get on such a great deal! Like you said you can freeze them! Make lots of smoothies, puddings and just eat them as is for meals, you can throw back 3-4 at a time while you Do The Hustle.

Tvillemom, let me know how you like the chocolate milk!

Tvillemom, Miss Linda, Star 1919, glad you are liking the tunes!

Hey, does anyone remember that Do The Hustle dance? I told my kids that I would teach them it.

Funny story - I ended up getting some mixed Disco CD's and now my kids are really getting into it! My husband is a Journey fanatic and have gotten them hooked on Journey tunes, now they are listening to disco - 10 minutes ago I was hearing Shake Your Booty in the house and I was getting ready to tell them not to play it on a school day (we homeschool and the only music they can listen to during school is classical) anyway, I come to find out, my daughter has the disco tunes blaring in the bathroom while she's getting cleaned up, LOL!

Last night I was having some cravings for chocolate and I made this chocolate mint milk concoction (similar to the chocolate milk recipe but used hemp seeds this time), because I was trying to replace a yummy Vita-Soy chocolate peppermint holiday drink that I need to stop drinking.

Anyway, I added WAY too much mint extract, ended up tossing half of it and adding like 4 bananas to dilute the mint. I made a ton of it, was trying to drink it in a quart jar whilst watching a movie. I ended up putting the quart jar in the fridge and this morning I added more cacao and a tablespoon of maca and shook it up and it's pretty good now.

Here's what I did, from recollection:

Disco Chocolate Mint Shake-Shake-Shake

~ 2 tablespoons hemp seeds, ground
~ 1 tablespoon cashew butter (can use almond butter)
~ 1 heaping teaspoon cacao (carob, cocoa etc)
~ 1 tablespoon maca, optional
~ 1-2 cups of water
~ 4 ripe bananas
~ Agave or honey to taste (agave will blend better)
~ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
~ A couple drops of mint extract (start with a drop or two or you'll ruin it like I did! Taste and add more if neeed))
~ Handful ice

Blend.

Morn~Keep at it how you are doing it and you WILL meet your goal! It's a very realistic goal, don't let what the scale said then affect what it will say at the end of the month, because come dec. 31st you'll be all

Well I just got done making the red pepper hummus and it Rawks. :D I used a recipe that was posted on this site but made some adjustments (cause I wanted to make a bigger batch and will bring some to work). Hopefully next time I can replicate it to make it similar cause I put a little in here and in there. I know you know what I am talking about. I also diced some red pepper up in my food processor to add little bits after I was done. I am very happy with it. The real test will be when other SAD people try it at work. I sprouted the chick peas since Friday night so they were good and ready.

Also I made a great drink this morning out of a juiced pomogranate, a pear, apples, and mostly grean tea (that I made with tea bags and hot tap water and then put into the refrigerator). It was refreshingly wonderful! But boy pomogranates sure are messy to juice. However, it was worth the hard work!

I feel so healthy!

My foods for the day:

Green tea with juice of pomogranate, pear, & apple

Later to bring to work:
Red Pepper Hummus with carrots, celery, & yellow pepper
A banana (cause I have like a million of them)
some trail mix with nuts, raisens, sunflower seeds & goji berries

Sharon: You made me laugh - that was too funny!!!!
The Voyager - Thanks - I will stay focused.

Hey Everyone.....

Had a busy weekend, so really no time to post.... Been doing great, though; only a couple slip ups  ........ went to a party Saturday nite, ate before I went and at the party ate celery stix, carrot stix, and ready for this??? "ghiradelli peppermint bark..... yummy white chocolate and dark chocolate with crumbled candy cane"..... I couldn't resist it... i had 3 pieces.... next day, i REALLY had a sugar hangover... I was pretty amazed that 3 pieces of chocolate could do that to me..... wow.... i've been really good since though!!! ;)

Miss Linda... you forgot about me :o .... that's okay, i forgive you ;)

Vegan Princess - GREEN SMOOTHIES are so easy and fun... i usually always put TWO leafy greens in mine each day.... this morning it was baby spinach (about 3 handfuls) and collard greens (2 big leaves, without stem).... 8 oz water, 2 tbs. tahini, 6 frozen strawberries, a banana and some raw honey with a sprinkle of cinnamon.... it was DELISH :p

i'm gettin' a colonic today, so i'm psyched for the extra cleansing this will bring.... foods eaten:
Green SMoothie
mixed green salad with fennel, tomato, cuke, celery, dulse seaweed
one big, ripe, juicy pear :p
glass of pineapple juice

Hope you're all doing RAWSOME..... Sounds like it....
KEEP ON RAWKIN :D

It is so encouraging to read everyone's posts. Thanks Alissa for providing this forum for us! :)

Tonight I am going to a Christmas Tea Party ... dessert and tea ... well, I had one cup of delighful pudding left so I've saved it to eat at the tea. Already my friends have said, "I want a taste ..." I should have whipped up a batch of RPs brownies to bring with me. The church wanted "Store Bought" desserts so I didn't really think about it until this morning. I was just planning on not eating anything. It was when I was grabbing stuff for lunch that I figured I could set aside the pudding and have it for my "dessert" :D

Morn - normally when I go to a salad bar, and I don't bring my own dressing (which I have yet to even attempt to do ... lol), I try to go for the Italian. However, Ruby Tuesday has bottles of vinegar and olive oil (not EVOO though) ... so I drizzled some olive oil on and then squeezed the juice from lemon wedges that I asked for. I did this at Johnny Carino's last Sunday and it was good so I knew it would work again :D

Today I've eaten:

Green Smoothie - 1 banana, 1 small papaya, frozen blueberries, romaine
4 oranges
More RAWvolution tacos :p

Tonight, for the party, I have chocolate pudding and some dehydrated/seasoned almonds, and a large bottle of water ... I am so excited just to be in the super-charged atmosphere of this party :D

RAWK ON!

Hey Dharma - maybe I should pick a slow song for your colonic. We don't want you to shake your booty so much that the hose pops out! :o

How about "Lead Me On?"

I have often heard you say
You love me as a friend
But I love you more than anyone
You know I can't pretend no longer

I would give you anything
I'd throw my world
But you don't wanna hear that anymore
And you wanna hear me say

Come on and lead me on
Come on and tease me all night long
Lovin' you I know it's right
I'll always need you
I'll never leave you
Come on and lead me on
Tease me all night long
I'd rather be a fool with a broken heart
Than someone who never had a part of you

You know I told you from the start
Exactly how I feel
Time goes on, seems nothing's changed
I'm in love for real
We have never played the games
That real lovers do
So maybe we are better off
Baby, I'd still like this from you

Come on and lead me on
Come on and tease me all night long
Lovin' you I know it's right
I'll always need you, I'll never leave you
Come on and lead me on
Tease me all night long
I'd rather be a fool with a broken heart
Than someone who never had a part of you

Come on and lead me on
(Come on and lead me)
Come on and tease me all night long
(Tease me all night long)
I'd rather be a fool with a broken heart
Than someone who never had a part of you

Come on and lead me on
(Come on and lead me)
Tease me all night long
(Tease me all night long)
Lovin' you I know it's right
I'll always need you, I'll never leave you

Come on and lead me on
Tease me all night long

I've hit some sort of emotional detox? I've read other people going through it on this forum in the past I think. I am fighting my thoughts of cooked comfort foods, and I'm crying randomly and feeling like I'm coming unhinged or something :( I just keep eating raw, but man there are some convincing arguments going on upstairs!

Today
fresh squeezed OJ with E3Live
green juice with cucumber, spinach, lemon and apple
1/2 a really gross greens n' seeds bar from the HFS

vega with water
carrot, apple, ginger juice

vegetable soup with pumpkin seeds

I just hope I can make it through the evening without going cooked. I just keep thinking these thoughts, like, oh it's just one night, it'll help make you feel better, don't be so strict with yourself, cooked cooked comfort.... Thoughts. I mean, where does all this stuff come from?!?!

Vegan Princess
12-11-2006, 05:50 PM
There is emotional detox? Wow, that might explain why i've felt sort of down in the dumps the past couple days, but couldn't figure out why! Does anyone have any more info on this??

Thanks for the green smoothie recipes guys!! I think I will have one for dinner...since I just polished off an entire bag of raw granola (purchased from raw cafe) that easily would have lasted me all week for breakfast, if not longer. :( I started munching out of the bag and finished it off...now I am overstuffed. But I suppose it could have been worse...it could have been non-raw food or candy or chips. I don't think I'll be buying that again. Too tempting/triggering. I'm going back to my steel cut oats tomorrow!

lunch: salad with 1/2 avo and lemon juice
way too much granola as a snack
dinner: will be either a salad or a green smoothie

**Also, does anyone know if agave needs to be refridgerated after opening? I do, but it's sort of hard to squeeze out of the bottle. Thanks.

Just a sneek peek while I am at work. Can you tell I am addicted to this forum?

Vegan Princess - I do not refrigerate my agave at all so you should be fine leaving it at room temperature.

Being - what you are going through is normal. We all struggle with the same thoughts. You are doing so awesome. Keep up the good work. But remember you give a little here and then a little there and the next thing you know you are back to eating the way you don't want to and it will be a stuggle wanting to eat raw again. So try to stay strong!

I am so happy cause I brought in my red pepper hummus to work and they actually thought it wasn't bad. The concensus is a little more garlic and lemon. They actually liked the earthy taste of the sprouted check peas.
Yeah. I have a ton of work to do and won't get off at any normal hour so I must go.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to check in with everyone before I go to bed. I went shopping with my mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and an aunt...we had a great time. For dinner I only had a fast food SALAD....all legal, but left my tummy feeling weird. I often think fast food salads have chemicals on them that don't agree with me....
Beinghang in there...I know I will likely go through the same thing....just waiting  '
Dharma I'm jealous of that cleanse...but afraid to do it myself!! Is this a medical procedure?? I don't think I could work up the nerve anyway. Hope your feeling "clean" and ready to RAWK!
Morn I'm addicted to the forum too!! I am searching for that recipe...I've probably printed it out, just never used it, but it sounds good. How many days is it OK to sprout garbanzos?? Maybe the last recipe I did, I didn't sprout them long enough (about 1 day.) Anyway, I've gotta try that. Does sprouting them longer give your hummus alittle softer texture??? Thanks!!
Vegan Princess Good luck with that smoothie...we're waiting to hear what you try next!!

To everyone....those of you I missed today....those of you who didn't make it in to post....I hope you have a blessed night....

Song for Tuesday: Turn The Beat Around

Made my "Cheeky Monkey" here's the recipe:

2 tablespoons cashew butter
1 cup water
about 6 bananas
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2-3 cups ice

Blend

This made enough for the whole family, so you could cut it in half for a single serving.

TURN THE BEAT AROUND
Vicki Sue Robinson

Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down

Turn the beat around
Love to hear the percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear the percussion
Love to hear it

Blow horns you sure sound pretty
Your violins keep movin' to the nitty gritty
When you hear the scratch of the guitars scratchin'
Then you'll know that rhythm carries all the action, so
Woah yeah

Turn the beat around
Love to hear the percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear the percussion
Love to hear it

Turn the beat around
Love to hear the percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear the percussion
Love to hear it

Flute player play your flute 'cause
I know that you want to get your thing off
But you see I've made up my mind about it
It's got to be the rhythm, no doubt about it, woah woah
'Cause when the guitar player start playing
With the syncopated rhythm, with the scratch, scratch, scratch
Makes me wanna move my body yeah, yeah, yeah
And when the drummer starts beating that beat
He nails that beat with the syncopated rhythm
With the rat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat on the drums, hey

Turn the beat around
Love to hear the percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear the percussion
Love to hear it
Love to hear it
Love to hear it
Love to hear it

Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it upside down

Turn the beat around
Love to hear the percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear the percussion
Love to hear it

Tvillemom: I threw together a green smoothie for dinner of a handful of spinach, 2 handfuls of kale, an apple, some spearmint leaves and a touch of agave. It was good. It was a little chunky/thick, but oh well. I ordered a juicer last night...can't wait for it to arrive! I remembered mint is supposed to help your stomach and i think I do feel better after my granola incident earlier! I also ate a couple rawviolis. I don't love them. Good morning everyone!
Misslinda That's some deep thought you've gotta me thinkin'. What am I trying to cover up by eating my old SAD comfort foods.....for me, and I've thought about this alot, I think I am afraid of (down the road) failing at RAW....the thoughts...."what about when we eat at___________" OR "I will always be that different "freak" when we eat out, or at someone's house"...I guess the fear of ALWAYS being different. Why can't I be like everyone else??? BUT, I've come to realize, I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!! If I wanted to be like everyone else, I would continue to eat and act like everyone else!! I mean, I love to watch Rachel Ray in the morning, but I would never, never eat what she prepares....I always wonder what her insides look like (arteries, colon, etc.) HOW SAD!
Anyway.....
Today's food plan....PLAN
Breakfast: green smoothie
lunch: salad
Dinner: chili (I STILL have to make it)

I remembered to SOAK my buckwheat and barley!!!! I can't wait for spanish rice and buckwheat cereal!!!
I feel soooo great today!
Everyone have the best day ever!!

Hello...:)

I am still about...I have been trying to stay away from the computer, not a thing to do when in a challenge I think! but I find time flies when on it and I need it to slow down at the moment. I will extend this challenge for me into the New Year I think.

Although I do not write much, I do read all of the entries here, and absorb what you say, how everyone feels when 100% and even how you feel when not, for I have felt both these ways as well and I know that this way of eating, to have a 100% raw diet in balance, is the most healthiest thing you can do for your body.

This challenge and this forum has always reinforced this to me, so I thank you all for this again.

Tvillemom- I sprouted my chick peas for 3 days and the beans must have absorbed quite a bit of the water because they looked like the size of the ones out of the can and had fairly long tails on them. I do believe it makes a difference in the hummus if you sprout them longer. Interestingly though once I told my coworkers what I did they said that it had a little bit of an earthly taste but they liked it. I think the red pepper also helps even out the taste. Good luck in trying it. The texture of mine was pretty much perfect but I do have a vitamix so that makes a difference. When I used my old ooster blender it almost killed it and I couldn't get any decent consistency.
Here is the recipe that I based mine off of. I doubled the recipe in most cases. One cup of beans, 3 cloves of garlic, 1 cup of olive oil, 2 whole red peppers, etc. Hope this helps.

Hi all,

I feel better today...somewhat recovered from my granola incident. I have had two successes today. 1) It is raining here in San Francisco and instead of going to the closest place across the street to get some vegan soup, I made the trek a little further to get my usual salad. Of course the rain had let up at that point, but everyone else in the office had soup. 2) there is currently a Harry & David junk food basket on the filing cabinet in front of my cubicle. I don't want any of it! Being vegan rules it out and keeps me away from the holiday crap. Plus I know I can have dessert when I get home. :D

Food so far:
breakfast: soaked steel cut oats w/almond milk, banana & a few pecans
snack: yam chips
lunch: salad with 1/2 avocado, apple

Ok, so last night I ended up having some carrot maki and rice crackers.. and my face was a little puffy this morning. I am still feeling really off balance, eating raw has made me feel so light and I find myself wanting that security of feeling full that cooked food gives, like the rice in the sushi for example. I would think not feeling heavy would be a GOOD thing, but it's uncomfortable for me right now.

That said, so far today I've kept it raw:

2 big juicy dragonfruits
made some raw fudge/truffles and ate some as I was making them
young coconut water and vega

...
..
.

Hope everyone is feeling great...

Vegan Princess, good to hear you are recovered from the granola.. I had the same thing happen with an OD on raw crackers.. och. And going for salad over soup on a rainy day -- :D You're rawkin' :D

Well, I know PATH pops in on occasion :D
I just like the song :D

I would think not feeling heavy would be a GOOD thing, but it's uncomfortable for me right now.
I believe I have been struggling with that a bit too ... although I trust I am getting used to it because the other night it was kind of neat to go to bed and feel *light* ... I slept well and woke up hungry ...

The Tea Party was great!
And I sure didn't miss the store bought treats. Watching some of my obese SAD friends was really *sad* ... they keep telling me how well I am doing and when they take a bite they look at me and say, "I know I shouldn't be eating this BUT ..." And then later say, "I know I would feel a lot better if I was eating like you are." :( One friend has terrible arthritis in her knees and her Dr doesn't want to do surgery because she is so young ... so I told her to stop drink soda and avoid dairy products for one week and see how she feels. She said, "Well, the pop comes with the combo meal ..."

Today I've eaten:

4 oranges
RAWvolution tacos and onion bread (shared with coworkers who LOVED them!)
gRAWnola

We're almost through week 2!

green smoothie w/ banana, pear, spinach, honey, tahini
apple w/almond butter
banana
trail mix w/almonds, walnuts, cranberries
arugula salad with tom, pine nuts, avo, lentil sprouts, celery w/ume plum vinegar and walnut oil

AND there's

BBQ chick-un fingers in the dehydrator also some zuchinni chips and i also soaked some brussel sprouts cut in half in some ACV and sprinkled with sea salt and they're in there too... we'll see!! When i turned the bbq chick-un over, i tasted a bit and it was really YUMMY :p :p makes me wonder... who invented these recipes, anyway???? it amazes me that someone actually sat down and combined all these wonderful live foods and made them taste like the sad comfort foods we all grew up with.... BLOWS my mind.....

Keep on Rawkin, Disco Divas..... Hope you're all doing GREAT!!!!

For dinner I made raw sushi. No faux rice, just veggies. Yummy! Nice and fresh. Off to have some apple crumble.

I *wish* I could meet y'all on the top of the empire state building! :p Where is everyone anyway? I'm in San Francisco. I feel blessed to live in a city with so many vegan and raw restaurants! But I can't wait for my next business trip to NYC to eat and Pure Food and Wine. I think I am getting their cookbook for Christmas. Artist: Donna Summer Lyrics
Song: Bad Girls Lyrics

Toot toot hey beep beep

Bad girls
talking about the sad girls
sad girls
talking about the bad girls, yeah

See them out on the street at night, walkin'
picking up on all kinds of strangers
if the price is right you can score
if you're pocket's nice
but you want a good time
you ask yourself, who they are?
like everybody else, they come from near and far

Bad girls
talking about the sad girls
sad girls
talking about the bad girls, yeah

Friday night and the strip is hot
sun's gone down and they're about to trot
spirit's high and they look hot
do you wanna get down
now don't you ask yourself, who they are?
like everybody else, they wanna be a star

Sad girls, sad girls
you such a dirty bad girl
beep beep uh, uh
you bad girl, you sad girl
you such a dirty bad girl
beep beep uh, uh

Now you and me, we are both the same
but you call yourself by different names
now you mama won't like it when she finds out
her girl is out at night

Toot toot hey beep beep

Hey mister, have you got a dime?
mister, do you want to spend some time, oh yeah
I got what you want
you got what I need
I'll be your baby
come and spend it on me
hey mister
I'll spend some time with you
with you, you're fine, with you
bad girls
they're just bad girls
talkin' about sad girls
sad girls
hey, hey mister
got a dime?

Toot toot hey beep

Yur RAWESOME Veganprincess!!!!! San Franciso, you are alot closer than I thought! I am in WA state--Apple State.

Being, don't even ponder on those crackers you ate,,,,,,,most if not all oriental rice crackers out there, have MSG. Good thing you did have a reaction b/c that means your body KNOWS what is good for you !!!

Tvillemom, your so cute!!! Imagining what her insides look like??? Hee hee, that is an effective visual way to divert cravings for processed cooked foods. I'll adopt that idea too!

Moonstone, great to see you ! No pressure to have to post but always glad to hear from you and hear how your are doing in your raw endeavors !

Girlsmiley, you are an inspiration to your friends! I think the Rawvolution TACOS are yur TRADEMARK :D My friends around me say the same thing....."I shouldn't eat blah blah blah" It's amazing what we do when we have choices.

Good Morning

I feel sooooo great this morning! There have been past mornings I woke with a headache, but the last 2 mornings I've felt great!!

Dharmagirl Thanks for the link...I will check it out. I'm just such a private person when it comes to "that"....then there's Misslinda who seems to want to hear what's comin out of everyone! ;) It's TOOO funny!
Misslinda Are you fasting??? Looking at your food for the day, it almost seems that way!! Of course I know when I've had just lots of juice, and a minimal amount of food, I have MORE energy!! Is this why you eat soo little??
Sharon I LOVE Donna Summer!! I saw her perform on TV recently, on a show, and she still looks sooo young! Thanks for the songs, I gotta find a 70's radio station and get some grovin' on!!
Vegan Princess I live in NC...Thomasville to be exact...hence the screen name "tvillemom"! We love it here. Small town feel...unfortunately the closest HFS is 35 miles away.(which still isn't tooo bad)..and NOT one raw restaurant anywhere. I'm sooo envious of those of you who PICK which raw restaurant you want to go!!
Being Don't let that little slip get ya down!! I had a slip, and the "after effects" have reminded me since then...I don't want to go back to that again! Your doing great!!
Girlsmiley When you say "rawvolution's taco's" are you gettin the recipe from a book, or a website? I'd like to try them! I love Mex. food!!
MisslindaMy raw highlight the last 13 days has been checking in here! Ya'll keep me going! Some other hightlights:
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this raw fudge I made this week.
I found that I love sprouted barley!!
I love the feeling...and I almost tear up as I type this...the feeling of the "old me" that was raw earlier this year for 2-3 months.....the "stable", NOT BLOATED, healthy me IS COMING BACK....SHE'S THERE, READY TO EMERGE LIKE A BUTTERFLY!!! :D If I don't stay raw...I know winter depression is just around the corner!!
OK...here's the deal...getting close to 1/2 way, and I'M GETTING NERVOUS...Already thinking about what's going to happen when the challenge is over??? I'm going to miss the support and my friends....SO WHO WOULD BE "IN" FOR THE NEW YEAR CHALLENGE????? PLEASE :) :D
Oh yeah...almost forgot, yesterday's food was:
B: smoothie
L: handful of nuts (walnuts, cashews mixed)
D: CHILI I finally made it!! YAY! :D It was sooo yummy!

Today's meal PLAN is
B: green smoothie
Lunch: chili
D: large salad
lay low on the nuts...more veggies!! Shed the extra, unwanted lbs.!!! ;)

Take care ya'll, God Bless,

That is so funny, never though about the words, SAD girls toot tooting all over the place. I just thought it was a song about naughty street girls!

I saw Donna Summer a couple of years ago walking on the main street in the town where my parents live. I smiled at her and said "bravo" and she smiled back and said "thank you." :)

Wow, Morn, I'm even more inspired seeing the hours you've been working and you've been keeping up with your exercise, and taking care of your family! Over the summer I was working 70-80 hrs a week from June - August and that's what brought me to RAW food ... I had gained over 50 lbs (well, not just in those 3 months) and thought I was going to have a stroke! All I did was work and eat and sleep ... and the eating was all via DriveThrough and cafeteria. Yiiiiikes!

Tvillemom - the tacos I made are from a recipe in the RAWvolution uncook book. Basically it is walnuts ground in the food processor, cumin, coriander, and nama shoyu. My SAD friend said it tasted better than *real* taco meat. :D I will definitely be *IN* for the January Challenge!

MissLinda - I am just psyched! I started on this raw journey in September and lost 18 lbs that month ... then in October I hit the fast food joints due to cravings (and was disappointed when it didn't taste as good as I remembered, and I am glad for that now :)) and I gained 2 lbs. During the Thanksgiving holiday I started eating some cooked food and did have some meat and ended up gaining 6 more lbs! [I know RAW is not just about weight loss] So, this DISCO Challenge has been an awesome encouragement! I have been *buzzing* almost this whole month and I was inspired to post my weight. :p I have even been sensing that my body wants to fast ... so I might also end up in that thread in January

This morning, on the way out of the house my son (who is getting me a VitaMix for Christmas ... http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23244&highlight=vitamix) showed me an article he ripped out of his Muscle and Fitness magazine about fruits and vegetables and how they help in your workouts. He watched "Eating - 2nd Edition" with me and told me he wanted to switch to eating like I am after the first of the year ... well, maybe in February since his birthday is January 21st ... Anyway, he told me this morning that he wanted to just "eat simple" and if he gave me the money, and paid me for my time/effort, would I keep the fridge stocked with these types of fruits/vegetables so he can eat them. WOWZERS! I am going to read the article and talk with him more about it to get a good "plan" ... {{{dancing around the office}}} I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it I'm about to lose control and I think I like it ... I like it! {{{more dancing around the office}}} :D

Enough rambling ... gotta get back to work!

Today's intake:

4 oranges
celery and nut butter
gRAWnola

Hey, pretty soon *they* are going to have to make a song for us

Hi all you Disco Diva's....

Wow, tvillemom, I sorta was feeling the same way about January even tho i'm trying to take this one day at a time... i've already given myself permission to stray a bit on Christmas day and to not beat myself up about it when/if i do ;)

girlsmiley - that's so exciting about your son wanting to go raw :D EXCELLENT job!!! Congratulations :D is he a body builder???

foods eaten today:
green smoothie
bbq chickun fingers
zuchinni chips
mixed green salad
trail mix w/almonds, walnuts, cranberries
banana/mango pudding w/cashews
glass of tangerine juice

Wow, looks like i'm eating alot compared to most of you... i just remember Alissa saying to just eat as much as you want the first few months of going raw... i find if i eat lots, i don't get cravings for sad stuff

Hope everyone had a great Day 13...

Peace and Joy!

DharmaGirl - "i've already given myself permission to stray a bit on Christmas day and to not beat myself up about it when/if i do " As I read this I realized I've done the same, somewhat unconsciously but I started thinking about and yup, I've definitely given myself that leeway too. So long as it's just the one day, and not a stretch of a week!

Also, I agree about eating as much as you want as long as it's raw, and how that helps with cravings. When I first began I was going through food as though there was a small army hiding in my fridge! Today I'm doing so much better after the past few days being about 75% not 100.. and part of it is due to just eating eating eating. As soon as I think about something un-raw, I make another smoothie :p

----
So far today:

Juice: cucumber, kale, lemon, apple, ginger

Snacks: 2 red delicious apples, 1 really raw mint cacao snowball

Juice: grapefruit with E3Live

Smoothie: 3 oranges, 3 cups froz berries, 3 dates, 3T goji berries, and umm, 3 squeezes of agave ;)

Dinner: Spicy Jicama Fries, Energy Soup, TexMex Flax Crackers

Later I had some olives, more flax crackers, and 6 snowballs

Dharmagirl: I think I eat more than you and everyone else! I'm always eating. I don't worry about it. It's healthy food. My body tells me when I'm full...and when it wants more food.

My 11 yr old nephew called my mom last week and said he wants to not eat meat or dairy. He always hated meat and I think the dairy thing is my and my mom's influence. I'm so sad though b/c my brother is a total SAD eater (junk food galore in his house!) and he said my nephew can eat however he wants, but if he doesn't finish what he's served, he doesn't get dessert. I told him I think that is incredibly mean! I wasn't much older than that when I decided to become veggie.

snack: apple & red pepper
lunch: salad w/avocado
snack: pear and tangerine
Dinner: Apple, spinach, kale, avo soup from the jennifer cornbleet book (was like a green smoothie in a bowl). Yam chips. Banana ice cream - mmmmm! One batch w/cacao and a 2nd serving with pecans.

My day off but I was too tired to do much after the last two days of working (and I feel like I am still trying to ward a cold off). So I played taxi to the kids for school and then to gymnastics, etc. I am a little stressed cause there is a lot to do before christmas and not enough hours to do it all. Plus I still need to squeeze in an exercise tape this evening and get in bed at a normal time cause I have to work early a.m. tomorrow. Foods eaten:

1 banana
vegetable sushi with ginger
dinner salad
greenbeans (lightly cooked but still crunchy)
1 small piece of raw fudge

Misslinda - I work for Comcast Cable (primarily as a modem tester and I also have the ability to sell for them as well).

Girlsmilely - that is so cool about your son wanting to be raw and the vitamix for Christmas. I love mine and I know you will too.

Update: Just finished:

36 minutes cardio caberet
10 minutes abs of steel tape

D-ang! Your are on FIRE......YOU AMAZE ME IN THIS RAW WORLD CRAZE TVILLEMOM!

I relate to that emotional reprise when your body starts to shift back to that "good feeling" Mine has bee consistently up and down but I feel like I'm gravitating to an opening. It is soooooooooo great to hear you say how good you are feeling !!!!

I would LOVE to challenge again with you all as well......

Sharon's gotta bring her tunes with us as well!

Veganprincess, I am meeting these investors thru my sister's friend--and suprisingly in a "small" world, my sis friend's business partner was a client of mine at one time (wow, talk about a very small world). I will have more solid information about them and their firm when I meet them!

Lavendarj, best wishes and peace on your cleanse! Rest and stay hydrated.

Tvillemom, my appetitie has been very unstable while going thru this as I call it "infection" I could go all day without eating if I wanted but then for a split second get hungry BUT as soon as I start chewing, my partoid glands act up and I "feel " like crying. My body is shunned by food and when I back off from solid, I feel better and my glands don't swell. Definatley got some lymphatic stuff going on........can't wait to have one of those healthy vibrant appetites that "light up" when food is around.

Song for Thursday: Ring My Bell

Looks like everyone is doing GREAT. Can't say the same for myself, but I'm having fun DJing!

Ring My Bell
Anita Ward

I'm glad you're home
And I think you really miss me
I guess you did by the look in your eyes (look in your eyes, look in your eyes)
Well lay back and relax while I put away the dishes (put away the dishes)
Then you and me can rock-a-bye

You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell

The night is young and full of possibilities
Well come on and let yourself be free
My love for you, so long than I've been savin'
Tonight was made for me and you

You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell
You can ring my be-e-ell, ring my bell

you can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong)
you can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong, ring it!)
you can ring my bell, anytime, anyway
(ring it, ring it, ring it, ring it oww!)
you can ring my bell, anytime, anyway
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong)

you can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong)
you can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong, ring it!)
you can ring my bell, anytime, anyway
(ring it, ring it, ring it, ring it oww!)
you can ring my bell, anytime, anyway
(ding, dong, ding, do-ong)

Hey Miss Linda - you are so sweet.

Well, pray and send me some good vibrations!!!

I actually had a bad day today - is there a full moon rising?

See, now I'm talking in songs. I have to stop that!

Seriously, I didn't have a great day. I really think there's a full moon, because I noticed the boards here were a little rawky as well. So maybe that is it.

I AM having so much fun with the songs, really.

:) I will keep praying for you and I hope that what I can sacrifice in everyday life, will be a miracle to you friend. :) :) :)

SharonofColorado You are in my prayers!!! You have kept me motivated with all your "music", everyday, coming up with something appropriate.....I guess I never considered that you might "struggle". Kick those feelings aside, with one of your board-breaking karate chops!! :D All kidding aside, I will remember you, and everyone here in my prayers today!
Today is grocery store day. If ya'll remember last week :( Today was the slip-up day! I struggle leaving the house and being tempted with all the food...junk food that is! I will not be tempted today! I prepared some more RAW FUDGE, and it's waiting for me as a "treat" when I get home! Hoping to "reward" my grocery shopping with a RAW treat, not a SAD one!! :)
Misslinda A special prayer to you and that gland problem. How long have you had it? How in the world did you figure out what it was?? Praying special healings to you, my friend!
Being What's a snowball??? Sounds like a "wintry" treat.
Dharmagirl How do your zuchini chips turn out? I can never get mine to "crisp" up. They are either tooo thin, or maybe tooo thick....is there a secret I'm missing??
MORN You really have a busy schedule, even on your days off! I hope you have an easy day at work today!!
Girlsmiley Jealous about that vitamix. I would love to have one, or maybe a new juicer. I think if I at least have a juicer that uses the blank plate so I can run stuff through it, that would be great. If I get any $$$ for Christmas, I will probably buy myself an Omega 8003, But sometimes I think a vitamix would be nice too.....hard to decide, but I DO LOVE fresh juice!! ;)
Path, and LavendarJ Great to see you pop in!
To everyone else: Have a VERY BLESSED DAY!!

Oh yeah, as great as I FEEL, I've only lost 1lb. this month, so far. Not real happy about that, but also knowing that weight loss is just around the corner. I think I need to incorporate more greens and sea veggies into my diet.....any advice? I still struggle with getting in the salad everyday. I seem to get too busy to prepare it!! :o Several people in my family suffer from low thyroid....I'm not claiming that for myself, just knowing I should get more iodine...is that right??
Ya'll are great, love to you all....

Good morning all. Hang in there Sharon...you're the inspiration to the entire group! ;)

Today is my department holiday party at a japanese restaurant...I think they ordered me some vegan items, but I think they're all cooked. I can't remember...I went over the menu with the gal before I was eating raw. I brought a lot of food to work and plan on eating a good amount before we head over to the restaurant and then just picking out what I can have. What do you guys think of miso soup in restaurants?

I've been trying to post today, but it's been a tres busy one, but wanted to check in.... hope everyone is having a great Day 14... can you believe how much fun we've been having???? time is just flying by :D

tvillemom, i just tossed the zuchinni chips in tamari (i know not raw, but all i had) after slicing them in my FP.... they're a bit small, but they are crunchy.. i dehydrated them in with my bbq chickun fingers for about 10.5 hours... they're yummy; matter of fact, i'm gonna go get some right now... brb :p

ok, i'm back... aahhahahahaha...... did you notice i was gone????? wow, these sure are yummy :p

spinach and arugula salad w/tomato, avo, celery
apple
zuchinni chips
lotsa water.....

OH, OOOHHH.... i just ate the rest of the zuchinni chips :( ...... will dehydrate more with some other foods.... any suggestions on what is fast and easy to dehydrate????

Sharon, hope you had a better day today; know that we're all rooting for you....

did you guys hear that Alissa is opening a raw restaurant RIGHT HERE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE...................... YIPPIE........... I CAN'T CONTAIN MYSELF... I'M SO EXCITED,,,,,,,, CUZ, There's no raw restaurants around here anywhere........ ]((((((dharmagirl is jumping up and down and waving her hands and screeching.... oh, now she's dancing away in an uncontrollable excitement... wowee, watch her go!!!!! she's got her bubble gum pink disco bootz on, too !!!!!))))))))))[/SIZE]

Dharmagirl: I am addicted to yam chips! Just peel and then cut with the food processor. I sprinkle mine with sea salt, paprika and a little garlic powder. I dehydrate them overnight...10-12 hours. So yum! I think some people marinate them in something or other, but I don't bother. I think they are just a good vehicle to satisfy my salty/munchie cravings. I'll have to try zucchini. I have some at home I need to use anyway.

My tummy is SO gurgly and gassy and ick today ever since I had my big salad for lunch. I ate what I eat everyday. I switched BC pills last night though (my dermatologist switched me). I guess it must be that. Or too much fiber. Dinner coming up w/my office soon...at this rate I don't think I will be tempted to eat anything bad. I dunno if I can eat! I am gonna give it my best effort to drink though.

girlsmiley
12-14-2006, 06:14 PM
Sharon in Colorado - I also pray that you are feeling better today. I don't know if there was a full moon or not. All I know is that last night, when I got home at 10:15 p.m., I should have gone to bed ... instead I went into the kitchen and opened a bag of chips, grabbed some artichoke/jalepeno dip and some wasa crackers and plopped down in front of the TV. Now, those chips have been sitting there all week (they are my son's girlfriends ... she can eat a few and leave the bag and never eat anymore  ) and weren't even tempting before. Then, after I finished the container of dip I had a bowl of high fiber cereal (thinking it might help push the previously eaten stuff out faster (that's one for your "I can't believe they said that" thread ... lol)). Well, as you may have now guessed, I woke up in excrutiating pain. I was in the fetal position (except when I had to *run* to the bathroom) until noon. Will I learn my lesson this time?

DharmaGirl - my son is not a body builder per se ... he has access to a wonderful exercise/weight room at his job and some guys have been helping him with his workouts. I don't know when/if he'll go 100% raw. I think it's exciting that he wants to make fruits and veggies a bigger part of his diet.

Today's intake:

2 quarts of Master Cleanse lemonade (I hope that will flush the junk out faster)
Large salad - 2 romaine hearts, 2 roma tomatos, 1 red pepper, 1 avocado, pine nuts, italian seasoning, some sea salt (sprinkled onthe avocado before it went in the salad), and some Newman's Light Sundried Tomato dressing (trying to use up the store-bought dressing in the house)

Tomorrow I have my 3rd foot bath :)

woohoo! i'm to the point where most of the time i naturally buy or order raw things without thinking about it! doesn't that feel great when that happens? i went to this buffet today and while there was a lot of food there i would normally really crave and probably eat, i didn't even glance at it!

i crave raw foods now!

I'm back bay-bee!

I stayed pretty good all day. I did have something for dinner that I shouldn't have.

I got a kick-butt workout at taekwondo today, thought I was gonna pass out, so I passed on the sparring!

When I got home I popped in one of the disco CD's and danced my hiney off to YMCA. Now I Will Survive is Playing. I am telling you, these disco tunes are the bomb. They really get your butt moving. DH is always working out to 80's tunes like Journey and some other rocky stuff, but this disco stuff is just off the hook! I've been rebounding to it for the past few days (skipped yesterday) and it really gets me going.

Also been up to 21 reps of Tibetan Rites. Well, that just wears me out.

So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU all for helping me out of this funky funk I've been in...I feel tons better now.

girlsmiley - I'm sorry that happened to you - I just know it does happen. It's weird, something inside us just wants to party on bad food. Once you get a taste it snowballs from there. It is definately an addiction, I can't think of any other reason for it. I've never had an addiciton to any other substance but cooked food, especially wheat products. It is hard - I've heard of someone say cooked food is harder to kick than heroin!

Misslinda! Thanks much - as you can tell I'm so so so much better today.

Path - yes that was some CCR with the full bad moon rising!

Dharmagirl - thank you and I have a feeling you'll be at the grand opening of Alissa's new restaurant!

Vegan Princess - thanks for your wishes - I know about gassy tummies. Unfortunately mine seems to want to make itself known when I'm in public more than not!!!

Stay tuned Peeps - I have set up the whole rest of the month with some great tunes. I'm going to see if I can't find a way to actually get a clickable link so you can hear them. It is funny how I can only remember the chorus, and reading some of the non-chorus words get confusing!

Morn
12-14-2006, 10:24 PM
Well after work today I went to the gym on the way home and worked out on the eliptical machine and stationary bike. I also did some ab work and inner and outer thighs, and chest presses. Then we went to my daughter's school Christmas concert and out to eat. Foods eaten:

an orange; 2 small bananas
salad with tomatoes, and olives
minestrone soup (yes it was cooked - it had a tomato base with beans and celery and onion and other green veggies, but no meat or noodles).
trail mix of nuts, raisens, sunflower seeds, gogi berries.
salad again for dinner with a light balsamic vinegarette dressing

With me feeling a little under the weather I really wanted something warm today so I caved to the soup. But I did win the bread battle that got put before me and I asked to be taken away so I wouldn't eat it. I had to get this off my chest with us moving up to the 3rd floor and all.

Misslinda - thank you for my free bottle of raw body glitter gel it is so out of sight!

Path 301 - It is so glad to see you again! I missed you!

Song For Today: Car Wash

morn - it's okay, one step at a time.

Rose Royce Car Wash Lyrics
Ooh ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief
(Workin')
At the car wash
Workin' at the car wash, girl
Come on and sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin' ya'all
(Car wash, girl)

Ooh!

Some of the work gets kinda hard
This ain't no place to be if you planned on bein' a star
Let me tell you it's always cool
And the boss don't mind sometimes if you act the fool

At the car wash
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Talkin' about the car wash, girl
Come on, ya'all and sing it for me
(Car wash)
Oooh oooh oooh
(Car wash, girl)

(Work and work)
Well, those cars never seem to stop coming
(Work and work)
Keep those rags and machines humming
(Work and work)
My fingers to the bone
(Work)
Can't wait till it's time to go home (?)

(Hey, get your car washed today)
Fill up and you don't have to pay
Come on and give us a play
(Do the wash, right away)

(The car wash)
Talkin' 'bout the car wash
Car wash, girl
Come on, ya'all, let's sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with feelin', ya'all
(Car wash, girl)

Whoa whoa whoa whoa
(Car wash)
Never seem to stop comin'
What'd I say
Keep those rags and machines hummin'
(Car wash)
Let me tell you, it's always cool . . .

Thanks for the Bubble Gum Pink Disco Boots! They are looking mighty fine with my body glitter!!! :p

I think I caved because I was tired, and I believe (and this is going to sound very silly) I was upset because the home computer has been having problems and I could not get it running so I could check out what was going on RFT! ... and maybe a bit of self-sabotage ???

I did much better yesterday and it was nice to get that *light* feeling back :D

Hola people! TGIF!! I guess I did so so at the party last night. Before I went I had a banana and pumpkin seeds. I had a few edamame and had them bring me a cucumber salad. They flat out refused to make me a rolld with no rice. I ended up eating a whole veggie roll...but it wasnt all that ricey. Had lots of veggies in it. So I guess it could have been worse. I skipped the other veggie roll that had more rice.Tonight I have a dinner date. I have no idea where we are going but I'm sure it will be easier to get something raw there than the place we were at.

Food yesterday;
oats, banana, pecans, almond milk
yam chips, pear
salad, pear
banana, pumpkin seeds
veggie roll, edamame and red wine

3 weeks...half way there. Yay! :D You all look sexy in your glitter.

I can't believe we're starting week 3!! Is that possible??? My weight dropped a whole lb. since just yesterday! That's more like it....I feel like I've lost ALOT more, so just "weighting" for the scale to show the same! ;)
Sharon: I really wish I had a rebounder! I think it would be so much fun to jump to your favorite tunes!
Misslinda:Thanks for the glitter.... :D We all love to sparkle during the holidays, don't we. RAW is definitely giving me that glow, I feel it on the inside!! :D
I'm running out of time to post this morning! I think you all are doing SOOO great!
Vegan Princess: What will power you have, to have the food sitting right there and not eat it ALL...great job!! :D
Morn: I bet you look like a much different person with each passing 30 days! You do so much good for yourself...keep up the awesome work!!
I gotta get going....sorry to miss some of you, but schoolwork calls.
Today's menu will be
B: green juice (feeling alittle "symptom" like) so I may juice fast today and see if I can "kick" it!
Lunch: carrot juice
Dinner: maybe a salad...we'll see.
Ya'll take care, and God Bless!

I just finished my 27 minute tap of taebo and 10 minutes workout of abs of steel. I am tired and sweaty. A few years back (before Evelina was born) when I was in karate these tapes would have been a breeze. Just goes to show how extra weight and being inactive for so long does take its toll. I also am still under the weather with a cold so I got extra rest this morning (but what is strange is it isn't a full-fledge cold like previous ones). Well I have to go and pick up my daughter Ariana from school and then later we are going out to dinner for family dinner night. Foods eaten:

apple juice (juiced from fresh apples)
banana
salad out later

tvillemom - keep up the good work with wise eating. Your weight will come off just keep perservering!

veganprincess - So glad to hear you made it through that party successfully. I figure the restaurants that won't accommodate me don't deserve my future business - so I just don't go back. You did a great job considering the circumstances you were in. Is this a third date with the same romeo?

Morn: It is a 3rd date! We were supposed to go to dinner on Wed too, but I cancelled...I just needed some me time. He is friends w/my neighbors down the hall so we are having dinner with them...only they don't know that I am the date he is bringing. It should be pretty funny to see the look on their face! I think we might end up at sushi tonight too...but this place hopefully will be more accomodating. If not, I can always fix myself something when I get home. Also MY JUICER ARRIVED YESTERDAY (!!!) so I plan on having some yummy juice before dinner.

Vegan Princess - keep us posted ... this is fun, hearing about your dates :) And it is good that you take "me time" ... that is rawsome!

Wow, I just cannot believe that Christmas is just about a week away! I've already made a list of stuff I want to make/take to the family get together. I've got to sit down and make the grocery list so I can make sure I have all the ingredients on hand :D

Today's intake:

Green Smoothie - frozen blueberries, small papaya, frozen banana, 6 romaine leaves
4 oranges
Yam and beet chips (Terra brand, not raw)
Dinner at Logan's ... salad, broccoli, peanuts (lots of them)

My foot bath was great ... the toxins were being pulled from deeper into my body, from my intestines ... it pretty fun to watch the water turn color and see what kind of junk is coming out ... some yeast even ... no heavy metals like the first two times.

:(

I'm having a tough stretch here... the last 4 days now, come late afternoon, I am turning to cooked food.. Today was the worst.. I couldn't bring myself to make anything that I could think of... I wanted something quick and warm and easy and smelling good.. For the first time I was too lazy or tired to try and create some raw delight.. I started making a nori roll, but my avo was bad and so I just gave up and started eating cereal :( And it spiraled out of control from there.

I get in these funks where all I want to eat is, for example recently, any type of froz banana based icecream.. mainly with berries.. or smoothie with OJ and berries.. Froz berries are So pricey this time of year, and I've already used up ALL the fruit I froze in the summer  I just haven't felt like eating much else, and then I get stuck, like now..

Maybe my repetoire needs to expand. Fast!

I ordered that RawPleasure/Raw Gourmet ebook in desperation! But it hasn't arrived yet - I hope it's good. I've only ever ordered one ebook before and it was a let down.

I'm starting to feel the holiday pressure. And I'm kinda bummed out that my fat loss has really slowed, I have minimal energy, I feel so emotional and my forehead has been breaking out... and stress this time of year :(

Och. I'm SUCH a downer. Not feelin' disco-y at all .. Sorry. :o

I just really feel lacking inspiration here. Raw shouldn't be boring. But pineapples shouldn't cost $7.99 and mangoes shouldn't be $4.99 per pound! And if the world were really perfect I'd have raspberry and blueberry bushes that grew and fruited effortlessly year long in my porch :p

Tonight I struggled with the whole raw diet thing. I went to a mexican restaurant and was upset to find practically nothing on the menu for me. Part of the problem was I didn't eat anything earlier and I was hungry. I had a large dinner salad with veggies but was not full (satisfied) after eating it. This was a night that I wanted to throw in the towel. You know just out of frustration. But I am now ok. I got home and ate a banana to fill myself up a little more. Now I am going to the movie to see happy feet with my 4 year old. The good news is I am going to get her some m and ms before the movie and my husband won't be next to me eating his popcorn (as he went to see another movie with my older daughter) cause I think it would have put me over the edge. Can you tell tonight I am missing sad food. I am bringing some raw fudge I have in the freezer to the movie to eat.

Being - all I can say is I am with you tonight and I understand!

If eating banana ice cream keeps you raw, keep doing it. Sometimes its' worth spending a few extra dollars if it means preserving your health! I get in ruts too. I have no idea what I'm going to make for the upcoming week...and i have to figure out what to make for when my mom is in town. But it will happen. Hang in there! If you fall off the wagon, just dust yourself off and climb back on...we all get tired of dancing sometimes...so just have a seat on the sidelines, sip some water and reapply some of that sparkle glitter. I'm sure the next song with pump you up! :p You've both done awesome so far!!

Thank you Tiny Stawberry and Vegan Princess. I really am struggling tonight. However, I am trying to win this battle. Nothing to me sounds good at all. I just got home from the movie and tried to eat a bite of my red pepper hummus and I didn't want it. So then I thought I would eat some manna bread (it is made out of sunflower, millet, poppy, sesame, whole wheat, etc.) and I ate a small peice with almond butter but that too was not very good. I don't know I guess I am just in a funk. Sort of trying to deal with the fact that if I want to overcome my food addiction, I will have to stay raw the rest of my life (just like an alcoholic has to go cold turkey or a drug addict has to completely stop). It is sometimes a hard pill to swallow. Especially when everyone around me is eating food that I miss and I would like to eat.

I know this is the road that I need to be on but today I have hit a big pothole and got a flat tire. I think I too need to be on the lookout for new receipes. Maybe I am just worn out of eating salads and all the same stuff. O well enough rambling. You all don't need to hear my negativity. Sorry. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel better.

my mom eats 'SAD' and it's hard to resist some old favorites. i hope i can someday help her to be raw :)

Song For Saturday: Play That Funky Music

Artist: Wild Cherry Lyrics
Song: Play That Funky Music Lyrics
Hey…do it now…yeah hey

Yeah, once I was a boogie singer…playin' in a rock & roll band
I never had no problems, yeah…burnin' down the one night stands
And everything around me, yeah…got to start to feelin' so low
And I decided quickly [yes, I did]…to disco down and check out the show

Yeah, they were dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die…
(hey,hey) till you die…yeah, yeah

Well, I tried to understand this…Yeah, huh, I thought that they were out of their minds
How could I be so foolish, [How could I]…tonight's the hours, the one behind
So still I kept on fightin'…Wow, loosin' every step of the way (Yeah, what'd you do?)
I said, "I must go back there"[Got to go back]…and check to see if things still the same

Yeah, they were dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die…
Till you die…(Yeah) Wow, till you die

(Come on…Play some electrified funky music)

[Hey, wait a minute] Now first it wasn't easy…changin' rock & roll and minds
And things were getting shaky…I thought I'd have to leave it behind
Oh, but now its so much better [It's so much better]…I'm funkin out in ev-er-y way
But-I'll never lose that feelin' [No I won't]…Of how I learned my lesson that day

When they were dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die…
Till you die…oh, till you die

(They shouted, Play that funky music) Play that funky music
(Play that funky music) Got to keep on…Play that funky music
(Play that funky music) Pl--AY that funky music
(Play that funky music) Wanna take ya higha now…

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right, yeah

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right, yeah

Hello and Happy Saturday!

Morn and Being, I know how you feel. I am already curious about how tempting the holiday weekend is going to be next week when I fly out to California and then Ohio for the new year. But hey, at least we are in the know about what is best for us... hey- it's a journey and the path isn't always smooth. So whatever we do let's not beat ourselves up. I've been having urges for sweets like desserts (cakes and cookies). When I get off my fast, I am going to have to hit the grocery store and stock up on some really sweet fruits that help me like bananas, blueberries and strawberries (if I can find some decent ones) and grapes (grapes really help me with a sweet tooth as long as I don't eat a pound in one sitting:D )

I finally had a chance to take time and log on and read and I'm so happy to see us all moving onward along this journey. Sharon, I am going to brainstorm and I might have a request for a song. Yesterday I broke my fast at work trying to be sociable because the principal was expecting all the teachers and well all the staff to come to the lounge and eat (although I'd mentioned fasting twice already).... so I thought to myself, I will stop fasting for a few hours and then restart; I thought it would be okay to have a simple veggie salad(with no dressing or anything extra) which I had on small saucer plate. I don't think my stomach was ready for that after so many days of not eating (the last three days I have not had time/made time to eat or drink water)and so I have felt queasy all night and I still feel sick today. For today I am going to fuel up on water(since I've haven't taken the time to stop and have a sip like a dummy) and do some citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruits and lemons) because they seem to help restore me when my stomach is in distress.

I can't do it :( This cooked food has got a hold on me still. Daily I binge and stuff on cooked food. Of course this is "healthy" food with SAD standards, but it's binging which means a lot of it. I don't know what to do. The moment I say "I can't have xyz cooked food" I go and get it. My mom says it's human nature, but to me that's just an excuse to say it's ok. It's not ok. I feel like crap. I can feel the toxins under my skin. My face is breaking out slightly (and mine NEVER does, so this is big for me). I've gained 10 pounds (5 of which go away over night if i quite the salt and stay raw). Ugh, I'm determined to do this!! This is a stupid reason, but I have a week until i see my sister's family and my aunt/cousin so I'd like to look good. Not look like crap. I want energy and endurance to go skiing on the 27/28. I may be on here later tonight obsessively looking at posts to keep my mind occupied.

I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I know I can. I know I can. I know I can.

Dreamwalz, here's sending you -- and morn and being -- some good raw vibes to help get you over these humps. Cause that's all they are, humps. Sometimes it's easy to stay raw, sometimes it is so very hard. . .Once you get your momentum back you will feel much better. When I get into those phases when nothing raw seems appealing I take it as a signal from my body that I'm not supposed to be eating too much right now for whatever reason, that's when I mono-eat or juice for a couple of days, that always gets me back on track.

intake yesterday:

green smoothie
gazpacho soup with avocado
miso soup w/wakame, scallions, and dehydrated nama shoyu-soaked mushrooms
young coconut water

Dream - Just tell yourself you can eat whatever you want. Don't fight it. If you have to eat cooked, just eat it. Sooner or later you'll end up on raw, I promise you. It won't be that long. You just have to get it out of (or in to?) your system. Negativtity and beating yourself up will only make it worse, possibly driving you deeper.

So don't worry, you WILL come around. I know it. And you know it. Raw just works - allow yourself to get over this hump however you want to - and come back to raw when you are mentally ready to.

girlsmiley
12-16-2006, 11:15 AM
dreamrawalwz - some advice that was given to me in the past, when dieting the SAD way, was that if I am craving something to tell myself "I can have it tomorrow if I still want it." Sometimes it made me focus on that item and end up binging on it the next day and sometimes I forgot about it. At least it helped me get through that particular day. The biggest thing is to not beat yourself up over it. You know you can get back to raw because you were here and you were doing great. Is there something emotional you don't want to deal with? Can you get away by yourself for a while and journal your feelings? Scream into your pillow and beat it with your fists until you have exhausted your frustration ... ? {{{HUGS}}}

Morn and Being - "This, too, shall pass" You are not alone in your struggles. All of us have been where you are (some of us more often than others) and some of use have caved (girlsmiley raises her hand) and some of us have remained steadfast. We are all on this journey together ... that is what is so great ... and what gives me the courage and motivation to pick myself up, dust myself off, and get going again.

Last night I went to Logan's to celebrate a friend's birthday. I ordered something (non-vegan) figuring I would eat the salad and veggies and bring the other portion home to my son. However, I ended up eating it after I got home. It was like, "Just let me have a little taste." Even in SAD standards it was probably the best non-vegan choice on the menu, however, again, my stomach just doesn't feel right. So ... I am going to drink the Master Cleanse stuff this weekend, hoping to get my system back on track. It's not like I don't have anything raw to eat in the house. Last night I got my basket of organic produce and I still have a lot of oranges and grapefruit from my Costco trip two weeks ago ... actually, I am using grapefruit juice in my "lemonade" because I bought 15 lbs and haven't eaten one yet!

I think what *really* happened is that I didn't want my friends to see me eat the non-raw item so they would think I was doing great [read: perfect] ... I definitely have some issues to work through :o

Plan for today:
At least 2 quarts of Master Cleanse lemonade, hoping to get in 4
Lots of water too
If I do get hungry and want something solid I will have a rawsome salad :)

Good morning! How is everyone feeling? Better, I hope! My date was fun. My neighbor was so shocked! I did so so again at the restaurant. I had some edamame, miso soup, 2 pieces of veggie tempura and 2 veggie rolls made with no rice (they got nice and creative and they were really good and pretty)...but one had a tempura asparagus in it. I still think I did pretty well. Not gonna worry about the couple cooked things...there wasn't that much in the scheme of it all.

I'm so sad...my omega juicer finally arrived and there are no instructions! :( Hopefully it will get figured out soon b/c I can't wait to try it out!

PlAy tHaT FuNkY MuSiC bAbY (Luv this song.. I'm playing some funky Boney M Christmas tunes instead tho') - och that yellow is invisible, and it's white boy not baby.. sheesh.. I need to stop eating cooked food because my brain obviously being adversely affected!

Okay. First of all, thank you THANK YOU everyone. The encouragement is wonderful, since all I get is rolling eyes at home

Morn - How's it today for you? You are incredible, and as always, highly inspriational and always motivational ;) Seriously, you've become my Raw Muse the past few months in these challenges!

tinystrawberry - I did give in to the cooked, and I finally made a connection between deep muscle pain and burning in my back, and eating cooked. It hadn't been bothering me until this most recent dead food inicident.

VeganPrincess - The ruts are awful, but how was your date?! :D I completely agree that spending the extra $ is worth it.. I'm going through a patch of low funds here, without a job and I cringe at the prices for fresh fruit this time of year. I'm thrilled my bananas are finally ripe enough, and I found some good sales on cucumbers, tomatoes and grapefruits yesterday.

LavendarJ - You too are a secret Raw Muse ;) I'm like you in that having tons of ripe and sweet fruit available makes things so much easier. I think I'm going to make a list of MUST HAVE ON HAND FRUITS and be sure to stock up for the next 2 weeks. I hope that your travels are rawsome too :D I'm wishing I was heading to Cali - I look forward to ONE day, FINALLY trying a raw restaurant and they are plentiful there.

** I'm just thinking everyone is truly a Raw Muse to me in these 30 day Challenge threads, because the energy and motivation is incredible **

:D :D

Dream - I can truly feel your pain. I'm breaking out way more than usual right now too. Ewww. I can't stand that feeling. For me, when I let go of being SO incredibly strict the raw became much more natural.. (Except for the past few days of course, which I chalk up to stress) You have incredible determination and strength and inner wisdom! Oh the other thing I have found so helpful is something RawPriestess said, like, Today I'll eat raw, then tomorrow I can have whatever I want.. then when Tomorrow comes, you repeat, TODAY I will eat all raw, then tomorrow... etc. Otherwise, hugs and thoughts are with you :)

Swingbolder - Everytime I see your name, I feel a surge of power. I love the "Swing Bolder" so much, I shared it with my sister too. It's kinda like a mantra and makes me think I'll never give up, whatever my dream may be :D

Sharon - The songs are rawsome, and so are you!

girlsmiley - Last but not least, I can relate to that 'not wanting people to see me eat something un-raw' thing as well. When I've eaten something cooked I get comments like "Hey that's Not Raw!" or "Oh it's SOOOOO good to see you eat REAL food". Man. It's tough.

Today I've juiced some grapefruit and drank that with the E3Live and now I'm off for cucumber-lemon-ginger-kale-apple juice with whatever else I can find juiceable in the fridge... or maybe cucumber juice blended with frozen strawberries? I found a little bag in the back of the freezer!

Being - thank you :) Glad you are enjoying the tunes.

I totally get "wanting to eat correctly in front of others" - I do that all the time. Because others believe I've been eating this way, it wouldn't look right if I had a bean burrito in front of them.

However, I don't hold back when talking about my own downfalls. I don't want people to think I'm some kind of perfect raw icon to follow. I'm a struggling human being like everyone else.

I know it seems like all these raw teachers and authors are leading some kind of perfection with their diets, but surely they aren't. Or maybe they slack off in other areas of their lives. It would be great to get everything under control wouldn't it, but it's good to know that nobody's perfect and there will always be one time or another they'll fall short of their own expectations.

The *silliest* part of the whole thing is that these women have been my friends for YEARS! They've seen me loose weight and balloon out time and time again. They wouldn't have judged me at all. :o

Thanks :)

This morning I had some organic oat bran with water and fruit. Well...lol, what a mistake that was! In the past I was tested and said i wasn't gluten intolerant, but just wheat intolerant. From what I know...oat bran has gluten. Oh my was I sick for the 8 hours at work. I was running to the bathroom every 45 minutes!! SOO bloated, dizzy, hot, then cold, neasous (sp?). Havn't felt that way in over a year. After those symptoms callmed down I felt like I hit a wall and felt exhausted! Ugh, it was awful. So let's just say I didn't have ANY cravings for food at all. Towards the end I got a little hungry and got a random craving for an orange! So right now I'm sitting here with a HUGE green salad. I feel good about it. I can honestly say I feel like it's healing me from the inside out already. Feels like i'm putting life back in my body that I havn't had in it for almost a month. I wonder how long it'll take to detox and heal from this path I was on? Definitely not as much as last time I went back to raw because I was raw for 9 months and the cooked I was eating was organic and vegan whole foods.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. Today I have also struggled but have stayed raw. I think part of this is because I need to spend some time (which I don't have right now) going through new recipes and buying the necessary ingredients. I am also out of some stuff. I just sent the hubby to the store for some strawberries and an avacodo to make Alyssa's pea soup as I just used my last one at lunchtime to make the cucumber dip for my veggies. He is going to pick up a pizza and wants me to be happy.

Last night I froze 76 bananas (small ones) in ziploc freezer bags as they started to get ripe and I didn't want them to go bad. Funny I gave away about 75 of them to friends, work mates and family so the box I bought for $2.00 had 150 bananas in it. I also cut up a bunch of apples to juice that were going bad too that I bought for $2.00. I was surprised as I thought the apples would last longer than what they did (as I only bought them last Sunday). I had to throw out a bunch, gave some away too and still have a few in the refrigerator. Anyway stessed out cause there is alot to do at the home front (a huge mountain of laundry, wrapping, decorating, cleaning) and I don't have enough hours to get it all done. I still don't even have all my Christmas presents bought yet or my tree up yet. Can you tell I am getting a little panicked. Foods eaten today:

raw apple juice
seeded bread with almond butter and raw honey
cucumbers, carrots, and cherry tomatoes with Alyssa's cucumber dip

Later for dinner:

Pea soup
Maybe a smoothie if I am still hungry and am up late

Morn: Your hubbie is so sweet!

I found the instructions for the juicer online! And sort of winged it from there since there were no pictures. I made some juice and man was it delicious!!!I just threw in whatever (cucumber, spinach, carrot, apple, celery). But it doesn't make a ton of juice for a lot of stuff going in. Guess I'm used to smoothies. Tastes SO much better though.

Well I spent the day on a hunt for a kitchen island since my kitchen is small and I don't have room on the counter for my juicer. I finally found it in the 5th store! I had a major victory while I was out. I went to eat at Fresh Choice (Souplantation, sweet tomatos type place). I managed to just have salad! Normally I gorge myself on muffins and bread and soup. Even when I was vegan I'd scarf the sourdough bread. This must be the first time ever I managed to avoid the bread. I even called my mom to tell her. LOL. Am finding I just want fresh foods lately...even the prepared recipes are too much for me.

Lunch: big salad w/olive oil and lemon
snack: juice
dinner: yellow pepper, 1/2 avocado and prob some banana ice cream

Going to a sing along showing of the movie Grease at the theater in the gay part of town. Should be super fun!

Artist: KC & The Sunshine Band Lyrics
Song: That's The Way I Like It Lyrics
Oh, that's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
When you take me by the hand,
Tell me I'm your loving man,
When you give me all your love,
And do it the very best you can,
Oh, that's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
When I get to be in your arms,
When we're all all alone,
When you whisper sweet in my ear,
When you turn, turn me on,
Oh, that's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh,
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.

Hey everybody! I sure missed ya'll this weekend!
SHARON: Yes, that's the way I like it! RAW!!
Went to our families Christmas dinner last night. DH made "his" famous LARGE vegetable salad....I just ate that! Avoided stuffing...and all the other cooked veggie favorites I used to love. While everyone was eating dessert, I kept reminding myself that I had MY FAVORITE RAW FUDGE IN THE FREEZER!! I got home and ate the last 2 pieces, now I have to make more. :)
Misslinda I really hate to hear you are hurt....sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery.
Being, Morn, girlsmiley, Hang in there! We, WE can do this! We are all going to have weak moments. I've certainly had my share! I just keep telling myself "I eat raw foods"...NOT, "I can't eat 'that'!" That way, this "go 'round" I don't feel "restricted" but telling myself "I eat this, I love this" keeps the positive spin on it, not the negative :D Hope that helps!
Vegan Princess....maybe getting together with her "prince" charming??? Love hearing how your dates are going. How does he feel about the way you eat?? Hopefully he's supportive!
Well....the rest of you, have a great Sunday. I can't believe that Christmas is next week!!!
Good luck MORN getting everything done, I know how busy you are....I still have alot to finish up myself. I plan to stay RAW to keep my energy up, and feel those healthy vibes.....sending them your way!!

Take care.

Miss Linda - Sorry to hear your feeling bad. That is tough, especially at this time of year when there is much to do. My prayers are going out to you.

Vegan Princess - I am so glad you passed up that bread. Good for You!

Tvillemom - You are rawsome! I have my family christmas party next week so we will see how well I do. I think I will bring the salad or veggie tray so I know at least there will be something for me as well.

Sharon - your dancing banana is so funky! I love it! Also you are so right that the disco era was so cool with music and all. I need some disco tunes at my house to play. A good excuse to buy more music! Love today's song!

Today I am feeling a little better today. The pea soup last night was decent - it kinda filled me up real full. The hubby bought me organic strawberries (ouch were they expensive) so I am going to juice some oranges and make a orange, strawberry, banana smoothie and maybe eat a few stawberries.

My husband also juiced last night some carrots, celery, apples, kiwi. So at some time today I will probably have more juice. I heard celery and carrot juice helps desolve bone spurs (which I have a heal spur so I wonder if it will work). I am going to try to get the tree up today and I have soooo many gifts to wrap and laundry to do. I will wait till the week to do more shopping cause I don't want to be out there with everyone else today. Thank you Tvillemom - I will be needing those healthy energy vibes.

Tvillemom: 5 gold stars for you! Family meals are the hardest b/c you feel so comfortable around them! The guy I went out with knows I'm vegan...he doesn't know about the raw part.

The sing along Grease was SO much fun! No popcorn for me. My friend sat and ate red vines for dinner. I was glad I ate healthy food before we went! She also told me I looked "tiny". So I guess I am losing some weight. Pretty incredible that someone would commment after only 2 weeks of RAW!!!

Just finished a big glass of juice for breakfast (cucumber, spinach, carrot, green apple). Mmmmm!

Ok, some good news and some semi ungood news... ;) I have DEFINTELY lost some weight because try as I might I can no longer re-create a full 7 month pregnant imitation by pushing my belly out :p No real difference in how my clothes fit but at least I don't have to suck it in quite as hard now.

Now if only my skin wasn't breaking out like there's no tomorrow.. It's not really acne or pimples, more just sort of hard bumps under my skin.. most aren't even red or anything. It's weird. They just keep coming though, which I can't stand. The only thing I've changed recently skin care wise is I began using a CellFood Aloe Vera gel skin product. I wonder if the 2 are related?

I am struggling with keeping it 100% but I'm not stressin on it either. It's more like 90%. I feel really good about my food choices daily, and I'm feeling like I've FINALLY FINALLY reached that place of "making friends with my food" :)

I'm excited to make all sorts of raw delights. The one thing I plan on doing is a test run of a raw stuffing, because Stove Top stuffing is probably my all time favourite part of the traditional SAD dinner at Christmas. I need to find a substitute that isn't pure chemicals! Actually I really love the sweet potatoes in orange glaze we usually have too. So if I can come up with 2 palatable alternatives, I'll be breezing through that dinner!

Today I've had

Fresh Grapefruit juice with E3Live

Fresh OJ blended with froz raspberries and 2 bananas, ground flax and 2 dates

Handfuls of cashews

Garam Masala Gobi

....
..
.

Time to get the resume in tiptop shape.. Need to find myself a J.O.B

Well I got the tree up (a 3 hour project) and now I am off to wrapping. I could wrap for 2 days. Anyway still trying to get through all the laundry but that won't happen today. At least I made a dent in it and I have clothes to wear to work next week.

Oh had a large dinner salad with pinenuts and cherry tomatoes and cucumbers with my homemade raspberry vinegarette dressing. Also I had the smoothie today of bananas strawberries and oranges and 1 piece of pineapple (very good). I also had some carrots with Alyssa's cucumber dip. Still haven't had the hubby's juice yet but maybe later.

I am anticipating a way full week next week between work, shopping wrapping, christmas party, etc. so I have to eat well to keep my energy going.

Best Raw wishes to you all!

Haven't left the house today. I have in the dehydrator: corn chips, zucchini chips and yam chips. Have been grazing all day and eating a lot of fat.

breakfast: juice, pine nuts and olives
lunch: jicama, banana ice cream made w/2 bananas
dinner: red pepper with guacamole on top made from a whole avocado and tomato

Might nibble a little more before I call it a night. Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start! What day number are we on now??

Question for everyone: How many of you were vegetarian or vegan before going raw? I was vegan for over a year and had spent 7 yrs as a veggie when I was younger (then ate meat again until I went vegan). I just have to think the transition to raw would be easier if you are already used to going without meat and dairy.

Song For Monday: Superfreak

Superfreak
By Rick James

She's a very kinky girl
The kind you don't take home to mother
She will never let your spirits down
Once you get her off the street, ow girl

She likes the boys in the band
She says that I'm her all-time favorite
When I make my move to her room it's the right time
She's never hard to please

(Refrain)
That girl is pretty wild now
The girl's a super freak
The kind of girl you read about
In new-wave magazine
That girl is pretty kinky
The girl's a super freak
I really love to taste her
Every time we meet
She's all right, she's all right
That girl's all right with me, yeah
She's a super freak, super freak
She's super-freaky, yow

Super freak, super freak

She's a very special girl
The kind of girl you want to know
From her head down to her toenails
Down to her feet, yeah
And she'll wait for me at backstage with her girlfriends
In a limousine
Going back in Chinatown

Three's not a crowd to her, she says
Room 714, I'll be waiting
When I get there she's got incense, wine and candles
It's such a freaky scene

(Refrain)

(Bridge)

Temptations sing!
Ohhhhh
Super freak, super freak
That girl's a super freak
Ohhhhh

She's a very kinky girl
The kind you don't take home to mother
She will never let your spirits down
Once you get her off the street, ow girl

Blow, Danny!

Good Morning everyone![/B]

We had an awesome weekend! My family is going to finish up our Christmas shopping. I want to try some new recipes also for Christmas.
[B]Being I'm with you, I am going to make a raw stuffing...because as good as I ate Saturday night at the family Christmas dinner, the stuffing that was made (someone tried a new recipe that included rice, and it looked more like a "stuffing casserole" than just plain stuffing..yum :( ) it looked sooo good. I want to know who has made Alissa's, and what things can I do to tweek it??
What other things are ya'll making?? My family will have traditional Christmas lunch...sweet potato casserole (HELP with a sub!) turkey and the meats, I never want
Vegan Princess I was a vegetarian who only ate eggs and cheese since I was 17 until I was about 31...then at 31 I added fish, and mostly eliminated the processed veggie foods...thinking I was helping my health. I felt better to some degree, but slowly turned away from all the fish I was eating....and then alittle over a year ago was introduced to raw!
Morn You are doing WAY better than me at putting a dent in the laundry...I have to work on that today, and clean house getting ready for Christmas weekend!! (Yes, it will take all week to clean my house for company on Christmas day!)
I can't wait to hear what ya'll are making for Christmas lunch. Oh yeah, and Christmas eve night, my extended family is meeting for our traditional "heavy" finger foods....I'm thinking I'll take maraw's herb dip and some SAD crackers, and some dehydrated crackers...or maybe NO sad crackers...hmmm????what to do????
Misslinda Thanks for all the color today! Hope you are feeling well.
Sharon Thanks for motivating us with music...I know the songs meaning is totally different, but when I think of myself being a freak, well, it all goes back to food!! I always feel like a freak, but I'm slowly learning to accept that!! If I don't want the health problems family and friends suffer with, then I have to decide how I will live now!!
Everyone else....take care, HAVE A FREAKY RAW DAY! :D

Good morning everyone,

I'm so excited! I weighed myself this morning. I've lost 6.5 pounds. I was 128.5 this morning with my work clothes on (but no shoes). 128 is a set pt my body loves, but for the past yr or so I haven't been under 130. More like 134-135. I will really believe in this working if I can get under 128! And anything below 125 will just be incredible as it's been 3-4 yrs since I've been down there. :D

Breakfast: steel cut oats, banana, pecans, almond milk

My corn chips turned into a disaster. All crumbly. I am still finishing drying them, but They certainly aren't chips. Maybe I will try them again with a little flax next time.

Vegan Princess...congrats on the weight loss. What height are you? The reason I ask is we are about the same weight...except I haven't lost but a few lbs. so that still leaves me at 134! I can't wait to shed and get below 130...I feel great when I've been less than 130, but that's only happened 1 time in 10 years!!! (AND only eating raw for about 2 months!) Your corn chips sound like a great snack (like popcorn!!) :D

Thanks tvillemom. Ya, you know, some of these songs have pretty disgusting lyrics, which I never thought about until I put them up here. I had Macho Man all planned out a couple days ago, but after reading the lyrics I had to change the song.

Vegan Princess - to answer your question, I was a veggie before I started on raw. It was the same year that I went veggie, a few months before raw. A little over 6 years from my recollection.

And - comgrats on your weight loss - weigh to go, Disco Princess!!!

MissLinda ... yes, please, get your foot looked at ... I am still praying for you *~*~*~*~*~*~*

Morn - you are doing great! Something about this time of the year, too much to do, so little time = greater temptations to grab something *easy* from the SAD days. Keep fruit and nuts with you at all times :)

Vegan Princess - I *tried* to be vegetarian a few times in the last 10 years and usually ended up going back to old/bad habits. I was raised on the standard Meat and Potatoes and "eat your veggies" which were almost always cooked. So, yes, going raw has been hard, especially because I was a cheese-aholic, and the past few times when I've *snitched* a bit my stomach tells me that was not a good idea.

I didn't do too well today ... I had intended to fast today so I did not bring any fruit or nuts to work with me and I ended up going out to lunch and not eating raw and later had some microwave popcorn. :(

I am going to go home and drink some fresh squeezed pink grapefruit juice, wrap some gifts and get a good night's sleep :p

Tomorrow is a new day ... gotta remember to put on my Pink Disco Boots and body glitter ... :D

Hello Everyone!!!

I'm baaaaaaaaacckkkk!!! Watta incredibly busy time, hey??? I missed writing and really won't have time to read all the previous posts... I have looked through some of them and can see a few of you are dropping off SAD pounds... CONGRATULATIONS!!!! My jeans seem to be fitting looser and like you, Morn, I started weighing in last tuesday, so tomorrow i will see what the scale says ;)

I've really been struggling to stay raw and have goofed up a few times in the last few days..... I really try to focus on the temptations I've overcome instead of the couple of cooked things i've eaten.... every day is a new RAW day, right MissLinda ????????????? I love your posts, they really lift me up with all the energy and color and different font sizes :D .... sorry to hear you're not feeling well; hope you feel better soon........

Morn: I made your tropical lime pie today... it's in the freezer and I can't wait to try it!!! I made a 6" pie since I'll be the only one eating it - I revised it a bit ... I added some sea salt and a date to the filling and used these cute little mini key limes!! I juiced about 6 of them and then still had to add some organic lime juice to get the tartness I wanted. I'll let you know how it tastes... I also used 2 cups of coconut meat for a 6" pie, so I'm sure you could use more for a 9-10".....

Foods eaten today:

green smoothie w/tahini, celery, spinach, arugula, strawberries, banana, agave
Alissa's zuchinni angel hair pasta w/marinara sauce
1/2 apple
a cutsie mini banana
lots of water

for supper, not exactly sure, but will have tropical lime pie for sure :D

Nice to see many of you still posting amongst the craziness of the Christmas season!!! RAWK on

Peace and Joy!

Girlsmiley: I had a few cheats on desserts since going vegan...but I learned very quickly not to do it with ice cream or cheese. There's no fooling a stomach that hasn't had dairy in a while! Ouchie!!

Well the corn chips turned out as crumbles, but they are sort of tasty and crunchy, so not a total loss.

Food for today:
oatmeal, banana, pecans, almond milk
zuchinni chips, apple
salad, pear
mandarin orange
juice of: cucumber, kale, carrot
jicama (I am addicted to these right now!)
corn crumbles

Off to make some carrot pecan burgers. I want my mom to try them when she is here. She is coming up for Christmas. I told her I lost weight and she wants me to show her how to eat like this. Song for Tuesday: I'm So Excited

I'm So Excited
The Pointer Sisters

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen
Tonight we'll put all other things aside
Get in this time and show me some affection
We're goin' for those pleasures in the night

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
And I know I know I know I know I know I want you

We shouldn't even think about tomorrow
Sweet memories will last for long long time
We'll have a good time, Baby, don't do worry
And if we're still playin' around boy that's just fine

Let's get excited, we just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I know I know I know I know I know I want you, I want you

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited, I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I know I know I know I know I know I want you

I am checking in before I leave work. I think I will leave early this morning due to this darn sore throat and I am tired and my feet hurt. It just means a longer day tomorrow.

Foods eaten:

raw fudge
carrots with Alyssa' cucumber dip
dinner salad with mandarin oranges
red pepper hummus
greentea with pomogranate juice

Dharmagirl - I am so glad you like the pie. I am always a little reluctant to post recipes cause everyone has different tastes. I made a larger pie and I ate it all week. I am glad you made it tart cause I think underdoing the limes wouldn't taste as good.

Sharon & Vegan Princess - thank you. I am starting to feel the weightloss, however, I have so much to go that it is only a small dent in where I want to be. :(

Girlsmiley - I know what you mean about having nuts at work. I almost always bring my trail mix as a backup so if I get hungry at least I have something. At least the popcorn you ate was a fairly healthy snack. It seems when we do go off we are at least substituting for healthier things than what we would have in the past.

I'm here. Finally back on raw!! No cravings. Actually no appetite at all. Had applesauce yesterday and a big salad after i got home from the ER. What can I say, I was craving greens :).

Having a big bowl of veggies today (carrots, celery, pepper, and tomato.

WOWSERS, THAT FRICKIN GOOD? :)

OH YEAHHHHHHHHHH............... (Dharmagirl closing her eyes and peacefully dreaming of her next bite of tropical lime pie; the tartness of the limes, the chewy, yummy taste of coconut and the wonderful texture the bananas bring and the way they just tie in all the ingredients to make it so yummy and tropical - OH MY - OH MY................... GET ME TO THE FRIDGE! ;)

Hello, Hello

It's obvious I am going to have make this Key Lime Pie now! :D

I have been struggling with my 100% rawness still. I eat all raw until around 4pm, then it becomes somewhat, uh, yeah... I want to blame it on PMS this past week, I want to blame it on my current living situation, with a family member who goes days at a time without eating anything resembling fresh, let alone raw , I want to blame it on not having enough money to buy enough produce. I want to blame, blame, blame! I'd love to blame it on all sorts of things.

However then it occurs to me I am obsessing over this waaaaaaay too much. I am grateful to be relatively healthy, with no major illnesses or health troubles. I am thankful to have the information I do about raw foods, and thankful that I am lucky enough to be able to buy mostly organic stuff.

Each bite of raw is another healthy contribution to the whole.. and each thought berating myself for eating something I've labelled "bad" in my mind since it's cooked, takes away from the big healthy base I'm building. It's a real diet mentality I'm chiseling away at... I was never any good at following diets, which is why I am learning to approach raw foods from a different angle, and this brings me much more peace (and success) when I can stay in the new frame of reference.

I'm going to juice today, for as long as I feel juicy, and then it's smoothies - I haven't eaten anything yet. Just water with some lemon so far.

I hope everyone has a RAWKIN' DAY...

PS - anything I should know in advance for the Key Lime Pie?

Hey Morn - it all starts with a dent. Everything! That's the only way to get anything done, you have to start somewhere. Without the dent, you never would have started. This is a good thing!!! :) :) :)

W-H-A-T ?????????????????????

Let's carefully THINK about this!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S DAY 19 & we're outta here in 11 days.

Sometimes this tapering end makes some of us feel like we should have lost more weight, cleared up all imperfections, healed complicated conditions that we struggle with for years but HEALING is a process too (althought we expect it to be more miraculous or majic like at times).......we gotta go thru every channel of change to get there.............RAW doesn't end in 11 days..............unless we ourselves end it.

KEEP GOING EVERYONE, WE'RE DOING IT THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!!!

LIKE SHARON SAID, "I'M SO EXCITED......" :) ;)

I for one am already looking forward to the January challenge and whatever more changes are sure to come! It's easy to forget it's only been 2.5 weeks..that's not enough time for real change to happen! Just the tip of the iceburg.

I'm off to Las Vegas tonight w/a couple girls from work. 12 hour trip! Leaving on the first flight out in the morning and calling in sick tomorrow (my boss knows this...he's paying for our dinner tonight since I'm going with his assistant). I think we'll be eating sushi (again!)...but hey...at least I know what to order by now. I also packed extra food to eat before the flight.

Breakfast: oatmeal, banana, pecans
snack: yam chips, apple
lunch: salad w/avocado
snack: yam chips, carrot pecan burger
dinner: prob salad and a couple no rice veggie rolls

misslinda - Thanks for the motivation!

I know i behind again - oh well here's for last 2 days:
Yesterday I went throught the whole day with just eating banana's and oranges and water. This client that I'm doing some work for is located out in the middle of "B.F.E.!", if you know what I mean?
So there is no place to buy anything that is decent in the realms of edible foods.
Yesterday, I woke up to late and didn't have time to make any salad for lunch or dinner - so I just put extra helpings of fruit in the cooler with the water.
Today I was able to have, some fruit for breakfast and some spinach and tomatoes and avocados and summer squash, sweet green onions and dipping them into a olive oil and sweet basil and thyme and oregano and garlic with sea salt mixture - very tasty!

Good evening everyone!! I have had a rough day. I ate something I should not have! I have been irritable all...and I mean ALL day. So, this evening I started to analyze WHY I am sooo ill. Hormones, healing, ????? It seems on the inside, I'm nervous about Christmas. This sounds dumb, but I AM SOOOO SICK OF THE "FAT" PICTURES OF MYSELF EVERY HOLIDAY!! I want my pictures this year to show a healthier me, but I know they won't. At least, I should look at it this way, it could be worse, and NEXT year will look like the healthier me!! (Trying to be more possitive here!)
Tomorrow I am planning on fasting....juice. Maybe if the "funk" I'm in will pass with it getting flushed out with extra juice and water???? OH yeah, I also had a MAJOR headache!! So maybe I was healing??? or just stress???
I'm thinking of fasting for 3 days....thoughts on that????
Ya'll are in my prayers!! I'm going to remember the song for the day TOMORROW.....AND GET EXCITED! THE NEW YEAR IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!! And I can't wait to see what next year holds!
Today's food:
breakfast: carrot apple juice
Lunch: cheese crackers (just plain, cheese nibs  )
Dinner: LARGE salad :D

Take care, check ya'll tomorrow!

Song for Wednesday: Night Fever

Night Fever
The Bee Gees

Listen to the ground:
There is movement all around.
There is something goin down
And I can feel it.

On the waves of the air,
There is dancin out there.
If its somethin we can share,
We can steal it.

And that sweet city woman,
She moves through the light,
Controlling my mind and my soul.
When you reach out for me
Yeah, and the feelin is bright,

Then I get night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

Here I am,
Prayin for this moment to last,
Livin on the music so fine,
Borne on the wind,
Makin it mine.

Night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

In the heat of our love,
Dont need no help for us to make it.
Gimme just enough to take us to the mornin.
I got fire in my mind.
I got higher in my walkin.
And Im glowin in the dark;
I give you warnin.

And that sweet city woman,
She moves through the light,
Controlling my mind and my soul.
When you reach out for me
Yeah, and the feelin is bright,

Then I get night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

Here I am,
Prayin for this moment to last,
Livin on the music so fine,
Borne on the wind,
Makin it mine.

Night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

Good morning! I am feeling better today than I did yesterday morning! I think I am going to stick with my plan to juice fast, at least for today.
Today's juices will be:
green juice
tomato, apple, garlic
apple, strawberry, lemon

Now I have to get into my fridge and clean it out. I have SOOO much stuff crammed in there, that I can't remember what's in there and stuff is going bad :o  and I HATE it when that happens!! I hate to waste stuff. I know I have some avo's that may be bad, and they really cost too much to waste! I think I need to make a list of everything I put into the fridge, and post the list on the fridge, and then mark it off as I take it out....maybe to help keep track of what's in there????
Anyway, I'm looking forward to today, juicing always helps me restore some energy that I'm lacking!
MORN My prayers go out to you. You seem SOOOO busy. I will be praying for you to enjoy the holidays! :D
Everyone else.....seems like posting has died down alittle. I guess everyone is really busy, the week before Christmas!
Give yourself the best Christmas ever, STAY RAW

I'm thinking of making the tropical lime pie. Checking my ingredients.
What other great foods are ya'll making lately???
I'm out.

I gotta get to work....schoolwork that is. The kids and I have been really working hard this week to "catch" up on our studies before the holidays get here! Maybe that is why I was soooo DOWN Yesterday!
Looking forward to today. Maybe making that Tropical Lime pie will cheer me up (ok, that's crazy, a PIE should NOT cheer anyone up, crazy that food still has that control!!) Anyway.

Hi all. Back from Vegas! I did great at dinner...had edamame, a salad and 2 pure veggie rolls...they even rolled them in cucumber slices instead of nori. But at 3 am I had an order of fries AND and order of onion rings (I did share, but I ate ALOT). Oh well. I was hungry and needed something...sort of hard to find a salad at 3am in vegas. But I just finished off a big glass of fresh juice with lots of veggies. Haven't been hungry yet today. Off to go take a nap...

Hi all - I am very tired after being up until 5:00 and then having to wake up at 8:00 to make brownies to take to my daughters preschool party, and then off to my other daughters school. I had a couple hour nap but 5 hours of broken up sleep doesn't cut it. But I have to stay awake now to take my little one to gymnastics and I have to be up early tomorrow morning to work. All I have had so far today is raw pistachios, but plan on eating more later tonight. Hopefully I will check in later after gymnastics and some shopping.

man ... last night I got home from church at 10:15 p.m. and was making my salad for today and saw that my son had made some fettuccini alfredo and left it on the stove (he's not going raw until the end of Januaryish so he's been trying to clean out the freezer and cupboard). Anyway, first I started snitching out the broccoli, then the mushrooms, and then I took a big fork-full of noodles ... I practically swallowed them whole  like someone was going to catch me eating *cooked* food. When I looked back on it later I was laughing at myself. Then I was worried about that stuff sitting in my intestines for 2 days yet ... today ... it looks like it didn't ... lol ... gross ... I know ...

Morn - like your signature says ... you know where your strength comes from. However, some good sleep goes a long way. I'm praying for you!

tvillemom - I am glad you are doing better ... hey, pie is a good thing to get excited about ... especially raw pie! I was so geeked when I made my first raw bluebery pie [thanks to encouragement from Morn :D ] (I made a raw apple pie first and it was "ok") I took a picture of it and sent it to all my friends and family!
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

MissLinda and Being - I pray you are feeling better ...

I see there is a thread for a year-long committment (READY to RAWK 2007 RAW FOR A YEAR!) and although that is my goal I think I need to stick to the 30 Day Challenges for now ... :o

Todays intake:

4 oranges
Mock Salmon Pate
Salad - romaine heart, 1/2 red pepper, 2 roma tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, pine nuts
2 small cookies
pretzels

Not sure what's for dinner, which is not a real good thing ... I've got lots of fruit, no more veggies (gotta go grocery shopping, been trying to put it off until Friday). I've got some frozen bananas so I could make some ice cream ... hummmmm ... and RPs brownies ... dessert for dinner sounds like a good idea :D
Gotta love the RAW life!

Well I got a few hours of sleep in then had to go do some things. Haven't been real hungry today (until now)...those onion rings sat in my stomach for a while! I'm def. done drinking for the rest of the year. I think I may make a resolution not to drink for January. It's seems so contradictive of the whole purity of raw. Not that I am a heavy drinker by any means...but even a little bit and I regret it lately.

Food today:
juice of cucumber, celery, kale, carrot, apple
banana
jicamama, guacamole with 1 avo and 1 tomato
maybe a carrot pecan burger

Night all! And MORN - I echo everyone else...hope you are able to catch up on some rest. I can sympathise since I only got a couple hours sleep last night. But that was my own fault.

Song For Thursday: Brick House

Artist: The Commodores Lyrics
Song: Brick House Lyrics

Chorus:
She's a brick----house
Mighty mighty, just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick----house
The lady's stacked and that's a fact,
ain't holding nothing back.

She's a brick----house
She's the one, the only one,
who's built like a amazon
We're together everybody knows,
and here's how the story goes.

Verse:
1. She knows she got everything
a woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she use, the things she use
36-24-36, what a winning hand!

(Chorus)

Verse:
2. The clothes she wears, the sexy ways,
make an old man wish for younger days
She knows she's built and knows how to please
Sure enough to knock a man to his knees

(Chorus)

Bridge:
Shake it down, shake it down now (repeat)

SOoooooooooo, how's everyone doing????? The holiday's are here and I'm suspecting and noticing the RFT boards have been slow. I think some have decided to par take in Holiday food festivities :p ........then the resolutions begin!!!

Tvillemom, I notice that if I eat something I wished I hadn't, it takes me about 3 days to feel content. Personally, if I eat something bad, I think it is better to refrain from eating and just go thru the day and stay hydrated than to fast on juices. I think fasting on juices is good when doing a concentrated detox rather than make up for eating bad. that back and forth pattern can throw the digestive health off--IMO. Depending what you ate too makes a difference too . YOU'RE DOING FANTASTIC--DON'T EVEN LOOK BACKKKKKK.

Veganprincess, Mmmmmmm sounded good while it lasted but all part of that social challenge in raw. YOU TOO......YOU'RE DOING FANTASTIC......was trip fun???

Good morning! It's early here....6:00am...and I usually am lying in bed.
Misslinda Well, part of what you said made sense, and it must have been what my body needed. I juiced yesterday morning. Lunch was just water (just thirsty, and REALLY just wanted water)
Dinner, I was ready to EAT.....I made mashed potatoes for the FIRST time (and mushroom gravy). I used a combined recipe from the board here.
Wendi's Mashed potato recipe (maybe my FIRST OWN recipe! )
1 cup cauliflower
1/2 cup brazil nuts
1/2 cup pine nuts
about 3-4 TBS olive oil
about 2-3 TBS water
rubbed sage (about 1 tsp dried)
a sprinkle of garlic powder
a sprinkle of poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp sea salt
YUUMMMMY!'
I used Alissa's mushroom gravy (with portobella mushrooms)
I thought this was great...and I have enought leftover for today!
Morn I hope Santa is EXTRA good to you....for all you do for everyone else, you deserve it!
Sharon Love that song. That's kinda how I want to be (well, at 5'1", I said KINDA) I mean built SOLID, firm....a RAWKIN body!!
Vegan Princess I can TOTALLY RELATE TO THE ALCOHOL...funny story. DH and I got to go to Puerto Rico with his work. All expense paid. First thing in the morning.(around 10am)(..down by the pool, drinks were being handed out. I had 1, well maybe 2 ;) and because I had only had FRUIT for breakfast, I could harldly walk to lunch! I felt sooooo bad. I vowed "never again". It just didn't fit my lifestyle anymore. Maybe every once in a while...but it's just not worth the "pain" of detox, if you know what I mean ;) RAW is such a work in progress!!
Dreamrawalz: How about bananas?? Maybe some other fruit to carry in one hand. I'm sure your sister won't mind helping you out with chopping some stuff up for you! What did I miss, an injury to your arm?? hand?? Prayers for a speedy recovery!!
Girlsmiley Man, can I ever relate to *sneeking* to eat something, afraid the RAW POLICE would arrest me!! ;) I've gotta make that blueberry pie too! Do you think I can use FROZEN blueberries?? Trying to figure out what to take for Christmas is nerve wracking. I want to take something I like, but will appeal to everyone else too! Maybe I should just give up on the latter. People who eat all the sad junk, just WON'T appreciate the GOOD stuff! what to do?? Anyway, you take care, and like Misslinda told me "YOU'RE DOING FANTASTIC, DON'T EVEN LOOK BACK!" :D

HAPPY DAY 21 Y'ALL :D

I can relate to so much of what everyone here is sharing ;) It's been a real challenge for me to stay 100%, too... on Day 17, I was feeling so weak and achy, and had been craving protein for about 3 days, so kept eating almonds and nut butters, but nothing was doing the trick..... so, I had some of my "DH's"... (still don't know what the "d" stands for)..... chicken.... about 7-8 bites of chicken marsala... i do gotta say it seemed to do the trick and I did enjoy eating it  ...... the next day I had two bites of his tuna... the muscle weakness seemed to go away, but the digestive tract was not too pleased, if ya know watt I mean  ..... anyway, i've managed to stay raw these last few days and am feeling much better.... i think the cravings were brought on by some wine i drank at a Christmas party... DANG; those holiday parties can really throw us off balance.... I did manage to eat lotsa raw there, tho in addition to some crappy things (if you'd call SAD cheesecake with cherry topping "crappy" - LOL !!!) (I had about 6 bites of it, but found it to be very rich and could not eat the whole piece... i did enjoy those 6ish bites, tho!!) :p

MissLinda, Being and Dreamrawalz: sorry about your injuries - just have faith that you're on the right path eating raw and that the healing will come sooner than later ;)

Morn - Yes, i agree with ML - a great soothing massage by candlelight with flute music is just what you need - or maybe more realistic for you right now would be a nice hot bath???? Go for it ;)

I've gotta make that blueberry pie too! Do you think I can use FROZEN blueberries??
LOL :D I asked Morn the same question! :D
Anyway, she said that it would be too runny if you used frozen. I found some *real* ones at Costco a few weeks ago (they weren't cheap but I just *HAD* to make that pie!). I know when blueberry season comes I'll be buying them by the case :p
When I made my pie I think I had 3, out of 8, slices ... the rest my SAD friends gobbled up. One guy even requested me to make it for the office Christmas Potluck yet I was taking a vacation day that day (avoiding temptation ... lol)

Oh where o where is this blueberry pie recipe? Is it in the book?

It has been so slow here at work today! Almost done. Going to spend the evening planning out some meals for when my mom gets here on Saturday. I'll try and do most of the dehydrating on Friday night.

I feel fat and bloated today. C'est la vie...I know it'll pass. I thought about cheating and having some hershey kisses here in the office kitchen...but then I thought better. Especially since they are not vegan. And I had just looked at the most adorable pics of some baby farm animals. Plus I knew I could make myself an even tastier shake when I get home.

food so far:
oatmeal, banana, pecans
sunflower seeds
salad w/half avocado
tangerine

Don't know what I'll have for dinner yet. Maybe a salad with a burger and a shake. Mmmm.

a lot of cherries
a lot of grapes
biggest salad i've ever had

i think my body is wanting the calcium to heal my bones b/c i'm craving greens like crazy!

LE FREAK - Chic

(Chorus:)
Aaahh Freak out!
Le Freak, C'est Chic
Freak out!
Aaahh Freak out!
Le Freak, C'est Chic
Freak out!
Aaahh Freak out!
Le Freak, C'est Chic
Freak out!
Aaahh Freak out!
Le Freak, C'est Chic
Freak out!

Have you heard about the new dance craze?
Listen to us, I'm sure you'll be amazed
Big fun to be had by everyone
It's up to you, It surely can be done
Young and old are doing it, I'm told
Just one try, and you too will be sold
It's called Le Freak! They're doing it night and day
Allow us, we'll show you the way

(chorus)

All that pressure got you down
Has your head spinning all around
Feel the rhythm, check the ride
Come on along and have a real good time
Like the days of stopping at the Savoy
Now we freak, oh what a joy
Just come on down, two fifty four
Find a spot out on the floor

(chorus)

Now Freak!
I said Freak!
Now Freak!

All that pressure got you down
Has your head spinning all around
Feel the rhythm, check the ride
Come on along and have a real good time
Like the days of stopping at the Savoy
Now we freak, oh what a joy
Just come on down, two fifty four
Find a spot out on the floor

Went through Alissa's book tonight. I decided I will make these recipes while my mom is here. Not necessarily for Christmas day. Will do the dehydrating tomorrow and then the rest she can watch me do since she wants to learn how to prepare things.

pesto stuffed mushrooms
marinated portobellas (has anyone made these? Do they come out meaty?)
kale chips
mock turkey loaf
noasted turkey
potato salad
chocolate cake (mom is a chocoholic big time!)
banana ice cream
yam chips
possibly more carrot pecan burgers b/c I ate them all :p

Good night everyone. Wow time is flying by!! :D

Morn
12-22-2006, 12:45 AM
Hi all - another filled up day. Had to work earlier today, then went shopping at Costco, Sams Club and my favorite fruit and vegtable market where the produce is so inexpensive compared to everyone else (like 5 green peppers for a buck, baby carrots $1.00, cored hole pineapple $1.69, etc.). Today I got 3 seedless cucumbers (3 for $1.00), a couple pears, a fresh beet, seedless watermelon (medium sized), package of bagels (for the kids), 2 lemons, and a bag of small golden delicious apples for 7.19. Unbelievable huh? (none of it was organic but I am fine with that). I just wish the market was near my home (it is about 40 minutes away). Then my husband and I went out to the mall and got my Christmas present. He has been doing the research for over a month and actually ordered it online through EBAY and then the company couldn't deliver cause they said the product was damaged. Are you ready for this????? I asked for a $50.00 hamiliton beach food processor and he got me a $300.00 cuisanart 14 cup food processor (boy is this sucker heavy) with an 840 watt motor. I got a workout getting it to the car. Now this might be overkill but I did need something larger and more powerful (cause all I had was a two cup capacity and everytime I made recipes I would have to do them in 2 or 3 batches and some of the recipes shook my food processor across the counter). Anyway I am really excited :) (I don't get to use it till next week though).

I am pretty much finished with my shopping - (only have one more gift to go). So tomorrow I will again wrap my heart out. Saturday is my family's christmas party. I was asked to bring the cheesy potatoes I made last year but squirmed out of it so my sister asked If I could buy some desserts at Costco. So I did and got a Atlanta cheesecake and triple chocolate bundt cake. :( I am concerned there will be no food at the party that is safe for me to eat so I told her I would make a salad and also a veggie tray too. This way if the party runs long I have something to eat. She asked if I was going to take a break from my raw diet for a few days and I said no. She is definately the type that will try to sabatoge me so I will have to be very persistent on my stand with her.

Boy is this time of year busy. I can hardly breathe. Sorry I have been short with my posts the last few days. Anyway foods eaten today:

very small piece of seeded manna bread with almond butter
green tea with pomogranate
lara bar
orange
pea pods, carrots, redpepper, waterchestnuts, celery, & cashews in a coconut curry sauce & hot tea
a couple bites of taboleh (just to taste for flavor)

Oh I also stopped by the health food store for some MACA everyone has been raving about and took 3 today.

dreamrawalwz & misslinda - sending you lots of prayers for some speedy recovery for your injuries.

Path 301 - what do you do for your job? Are you a truck driver?

Dharmagirl - thank you for your input on the blueberry pie. I never thought to let them thaw first (that is why mine turned out runny when I used the frozen ones). I have a large package of them in the freezer that I bought so I will try it again (when I get some more time) following your suggestion.

tvillemom - sending you lots of raw energy so you can get done all that you need to for tomorrow. When your done can you come and clean my house too! ha ha!

Thanks, Morn!

A lot of folks like that dancing banana, so it's a toss up!

That banana has been there so long, I think it would be hard letting him go. He used to be a dancing carrot!

However, I do have my photo in my profile.

Hey, congrats on that Cuisinart! You got the best, girl! You won't be dissapointed with that size, too!

We've been in the house for the last few days because of the blizzard. Tomorrow we are going to try to shovel our way out of here. We went to bed really early last night but then I woke up in the middle of the night and haven't been able to go back to sleep.

Hi again. I am trying a persimmon for the first time for breakfast. Boy is it sweet! It is good but a little rich and a little too sweet for me (I can't finish it). I am glad I tried it though. I think it would be a fabulous fruit to juice with other things. Isn't God creative. I was thinking about that (and praising him) as I was walking around the fruit and vegtable market yesterday. I can't believe all the varieties of fruits and vegtables (there are so many I haven't ever tried before and wouldn't even know what to do with if I bought it). But since I have been raw (and by the way today marks my 3 month journey on raw) I have tried for the first time mangos, avacados, pomogranates, portabella mushrooms, young coconuts, gogi berries, fresh beets, and now persimmons. (retried cauliflower, fresh spinach, zuccini, and onions, which I never liked so I never ate them) and found a few to be palletable if combined with other things in recipes. I also use fresh garlic which I never used before and my whole pantry has been transformed with every nut and grains like buckwheat and oat groats, and flax seeds, etc. I have invested the most time, energy, and money in my health than I ever did before and I feel good about it. You know how when you go on a fad diet you feel like you are getting ripped off and not getting much in return? With raw I have improved my health, had more energy, influenced my family for the better to eat more fruits and veggies, and have convinced my husband to stop drinking (or extremely minimize drinking diet pepsi). He said not to buy it anymore after we run out! Yeah!

Well here are my statistics from last month (I also weighed today because it marked my 3 month anniversary - I was really nervous cause I haven't exercised this week due to being extremely busy with Christmas preps and all and I lost 2 more pounds - I am estatic)!:

Down another 13 3/4 inches from last month.
Total down 29 1/4 inches from start yeah
Total weight down 36 pounds!!!!!

Vegan Princess
12-22-2006, 12:48 PM
MORN: You're down 13 inches in a month? That is astounding!! Happy anniversary!!! If that's not motivation to stay raw, I don't know what is. And I can't believe you'd never tried an avocado before!?

I've been MIA the last few days, busy busy busy right now..

Keepin' it raw. I have been too busy to eat as much lately, and I find I like the lighter feeling of not eating so often. It's not as though it would harm me to miss a meal or 2 anyhow

I made some chocolates in little molds .. all raw! Ginger ones and also some chilipepper chocolates, and some slightly unraw (with rum) carob balls...
They turned out fantastic and my unraw family doesn't know they are raw and healthy compared to dairy laden cooked chocolates :D

I just wanted to check in quickly --- The days are already getting longer again! Plus it was new moon on Wed and I feel things are on this upswing of positivity for me, which is unusual but I'm welcoming it with open arms.

Hope everyone is rawkin'....

Vegan Princess - About the avacodo - yeah I know I was a terrible eater before. I ate lots of salads but with all the fatty dressings (like ranch), croutons, cheese, meat, etc. I was also a huge carb addict (pizza, bread, mac and cheese, pastas, donuts, sweets, etc.) I barely ate any fruit at all. I was lucky if I ate 1 apple or piece a fruit in a whole month. Yes losing inches is a motivation for staying raw. My inches also doubled from last month's total when I decided to do November and December's exercise challenge. Apart from this week I have done at least 3 days of exercise a week (which was my goal). It has been a few years of inactivity in the exercise arena so it is hard but good to get moving again. Once I lose another 20 pounds things will be a lot easier for me. It is hard exercising with all this extra weight on my body and joints.

Morn, you continue to be such an inspiration. I have been giving in to my cravings lately and gained weight this past week ... not a way to reach my weightloss goal. I know I need to add exercise and I will see more dramatic results. You are staying on track even through this busy season and your long hours at work ... God Bless You! AND, Congratulations on your new Food Processor!

I've got to learn to say "NO" to myself ...

Yesterday:
2 quarts Master Cleanse lemonade
1 apple
*binged on cooked food*

Today:
3 apples
Sushi at the Chinese Buffet

I am in a better place - health wise - this Holiday Season than I was last year. I know I can get back on track!

My boss let me off early today so I took myself to lunch at my raw cafe. They added a bunch of new things to the menu. I'm so excited to try it all. I had a taco salad with walnut taco crumbles and nacho cheese sauce with lettuce tomato and flax crackers. I also tried their rendition of an almond joy...coconut butter with some flakes and almonds dipped in chocolate...better than the real thing! Can't wait to try some more things.

I stocked up on all my food for the week and for all my recipes. I bought an entire cart full of fruit and veggies! Then I got inspired to reorganize all the cabinets in my kitchen. I found SO much extra MUCH NEEDED space. Yippee! Now I'm pooped. Gonna rest for a bit then gotta get cooking (or UNcooking).

breakfast: oatmeal, banana, pecans
snack: yam chips
lunch: taco salad, shot of wheatgrass, mini almond joy, choc shake (SO full)
dinner: will probably just have juice and maybe some jicama

Hang in there everyone...deep breaths...all the chores will get done. Try to enjoy the holiday season while you are running around like crazy!

If anyone wants to take over the DJ-ing I surely would appreciate it! All I do is a size 6 and purple for the lettering and google the song lyrics.

I will try to check in when I can but will be busy around here and with the family for the next week or so.

God bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas. Have fun!

Artist: Irene Cara Lyrics
Song: Flashdance...What a Feeling Lyrics

First, when there's nothing but a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide deep inside your mind
All alone I have cried silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel, made of stone

Well I hear the music, close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart

[Chorus:]
What a feeling, bein's believin'
I can't have it all, now I'm dancin' for my life
Take your passion, and make it happen
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life

[Solo]

Now I hear the music, close my eyes, I am rhythm
In a flash it takes hold of my heart

[chorus (with ... "now I'm dancing through my life")]

What a feeling

What a feeling (I am music now), bein's believin' (I am rhythm now)
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life
What a feeling (I can really have it all)
What a feeling (Pictures come alive when I call)
I can have it all (I can really have it all)
Have it all (Pictures come alive when I call)
(call, call, call, call, what a feeling) I can have it all
(Bein's believin') bein's believin'
(Take your passion, make it happen) make it happen
(What a feeling) what a feeling... [to fade]

I will! I will! I love looking up lyrics etc. and I will be around my computer :)

I am 100% RAW today :D Great accomplishment for me!

Today's intake:

Smoothie: 1 banana, 1 small papaya, juice of 2 oranges, 1 whole orange, ground almonds, dried green tea leaves, water
2 apples

Also, I made Alissa's Walnut Fudge to take with me tomorrow. I decided to *keep it simple* since I have a large family (and everyone brings snacks and goodies) and it's late at night ... it's not like a dinner buffet. I still want to make the Tropical Lime Pie ... so probably will do that tomorrow to take to my sister's for Christmas dinner :)

Everyone be blessed ... RAWkin' around the Christmas Tree!

Hi All you RawKin Disco Divas....

YIKES... these temptations are just killing me.... today, i've given in and eaten 3 "LINDT" chocolates, :o a gift from someone and just couldn't resist them any longer, even tho I made fudge balls yesterday to try to overcome some of those cravings, but today, in a weak moment, gobbled down 3 of them - "3" because the first two just didn't taste very good  - the 3rd one didn't either, so I guess that's good news... i washed them down with a cucumber which felt much better !!!

Sharon, thanks for all the dj'in this month; GRRRReat job!! and

Thanks, girlsmiley for volunteering to take over where Sharon left off :D

Morn: I have a 14 cup Cuisinart I got for Christmas last year and I just love it!! I did, however, recently buy a 3 cup Cuisinart for smaller portions of sauces and dips, i.e. marinara, alfredo, etc. since I usually only make these for one and the 14 cup is a bit too large for that. Just a heads up. Congrats on all the wonderful achievements since going raw, too... how exciting for you!!! I too, just recently tried persimmons after reading about them on these forums.... I am addicted now... i love the sweetness of them!! I can definitely eat a whole one in one sitting - NO problem..LOL :p

MissLinda: wow, you're really being challenged right now. how is your ankle healing? so sorry to hear of how ill you are.... i'll be sending raw healing love and cyberhugs your way... feel better soon ;)

Being: those chocolates sound soooooo luscious.... can you post the recipes??? (as you can see, chocolates are a huge weakness for me!) let us know how they come out and how your family likes them!!

VeganPrincess: you have inspired me to 'clean out" my pantry, too =0) I still have lots of grains, flours and things in jars that I don't anticipate using any time soon ;) .....

Foods eaten today:
green smoothie w/banana, orange, pineapple, collard, raw honey
green salad w/few bites of (((((broiled haddock)))))))
lindt chocolates
banana
cucumber
left over green smoothie

Christmas peace, love and joy to all
(or Hannukah or Kwandza!!) mmmmmwah....

Well today was my family's holiday party. I did really well staying raw at the party cause I brought my own salad and veggie tray. I also stayed away from the incredible desserts that I brought but did end up eating some salted peacans cause I started getting really hungry. However the fallout was when I got home and started separating food to keep for us and give to a friend (my sister sent home mostacolli and sloppy joe meat for my kids). Of course I had to sample each one! Darn it! I did good all day and blew it in the last few minutes of the day and now I think my stomach hurts. Probably because I really haven't had any beef or hamburger in my system for 3 months (and the worst thing is it wasn't very good). Well I think this is a good thing in the end cause next time I will remember this experience and I can say to myself you aren't missing out! Anyway I am now tired and need to go to sleep. Christmas eve is tomorrow and I am wiped out from the week. Foods eaten:

lara bar
salad with raspberry vinegarette
couple carrots and cucumbers
pineapple chunks
peacans
Taboleuh
a couple bites of mostacolli/sloppy joe meat

Isn't it amazing how you can pretty much tell immediately that your system doesn't know how to handle <dead food> anymore?!? We surely are "fearfully and wonderfully made" !!!

DharmaGirl - I love the theme for this month and am always looking forward to the inspiration that Sharon of Colorado gives us with the song each day. I just had to make sure we got through this month ... Dancin' ... Dancin' ... Dancin'! :p

Song for the day:

YOU SHOULD BE DANCING
The Bee Gees

My baby moves at midnight
goes right on till the dawn
My woman takes me higher
my woman keeps me warm

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
dancing, yeah

She's juicy and she's trouble
She gets it to me good
My woman gives me power
Goes right down to my blood

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
dancing, yeah

My baby moves at midnight
goes right on till the dawn
My woman takes me higher
my woman keeps me warm

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah

Guess I never paid attention to they lyrics ... all I remember was the chorus!

I've been MIA as well. Not just because I've been busy, but because I've been binging on cooked food. What's wrong with me?? I know how it makes me look and feel, but I'm so addicted. I was doing well Monday-Thursday. On Thursday i was raw, but had some sea salt and that set me up for the next few days, including this morning already.

I have a raw friend at work that let me borrow Conscience Eating and Nature's First Law. Anyone read these? I havea feeling i'm going to buy my own copies :)

A LOT of pineapple + apple juice
HUGE fluffy green salad
Orange juice

Going to my sister's tomorrow, so i don't know when i'll be on next. There may be a January thread when I return :)

Hi everyone! Just a quick note b/c my mom is here and we're getting ready to go out. Mom is a lil annoyed that I don't want to eat everywhere, but she also wants to try and eat raw while she's here. But she is enjoying the food so far...or at least doing what moms do and saying she is.

food yesterday:

juice (carrot, cucumber, spinach, apple)
ate at raw cafe - shared burger and lasagna and a slice of layer cake
marinated portobellos over salad with some pesto stuffed mushrooms - too rich for me! and banana ice cream

Off to a vegan friendly place for brunch. I know they have almond milk so I will peice something together...or have a salad. Merry Christmas eve!!

I was so excited about eating well tonight and I failed ... lol ... at least I can laugh about it eh? And I'm not beating myself up on it. I could have not eaten some of that stuff yet I was like, "what the heck ..." so it was a conscious decision.

There were NO veggies at the get together and I made dessert. Everyone thought that was a hoot as they said they rely on me for the veggies. Thing is, I've been having so much fun with recipes ... oh well, tomorrow is a new day :D

Today's intake:

3 bananas
2 pieces Walnut Fudge
1 piece Tropical Lime Pie (I made it at the last minute so it didn't have time to firm up right, I guess, my Aunt Barb had a slice and my dad had 2 slices ... he said it was "limey but good" :) I've got it back in the freezer now and I'll take the rest to my sisters)
hummus (made with canned garbanzo beans) and non-raw crackers
spinach/artichoke dip and non-raw crackers

Morn - thanks for cheering us on!

dreamrawalwz - you are in my prayers also!

Good job Morn! Girlsmiley...you really didn't do bad!!

My mom is not enjoying this raw food thing at all. She has been obsessing about potato chips, etc. We've had to pay two visits to my corner market...one for potao chips and another for candy bars. Something really upset her stomach (pre chips, etc). Maybe she is going through detox already? She's gotta do this gradually. I doubt she'll ever be totally raw though! Oh well, I tried. :(

Made the chocolate cake today. Next time I'd make the frosting w/cocoa powder, not carob. Made the potato salad also...that was yummy. And I have noasted turkey in the dehydrator..smells really good!

brunch: lame salad (the brunch place was closed)
lunch: jicama
dinner: potato salad, choc cake
snack: pineapple, some yam chips

I just got done making the cheesecake that was posted on this site. I it is in the freezer right now but I tasted the filling and I can already tell it is wonderful. I also made a stawberry sauce to go on top. I guess I feel like I got somehow left out of eating desserts yesterday at the party and wanted to bring the cheesecake to my mother in laws house so when they eat dessert I am prepared.

but that's OK ... I pretty much knew it wouldn't be.

It is quite funny, now, looking at what people call a *healthy* meal. Everything being offered was *dead* ... and the vegetable at one place was green bean casserole and at the other place it was mashed potatoes ... lol :)

I had originally planned to stay home and enjoy the whole day by myself and fast yet I got some invitations and decided to accept them. I only have oranges, grapefruits, and kiwis in the house because I was planning to fast this week while I am home and enter the New Year feeling *light* and *clean* and ready to start 2007 RAW :D

So, that is why I just figured I'd eat a little of whatever looked good to me and not beat myself up. I also brought my Walnut Fudge and Tropical Lime Pie with me and everyone enjoyed them :)

I'm planning to do the Master Cleanse tomorrow and maybe do it for 5 days, and then water fast for 3 days (or Master Cleanse for 3 days and water fast for 5 days) and then juices for 3 days and then back on track with RAW :D

Hey everyone!!!
I wanted to post yesterday and say "Merry Christmas", but we were soooo busy. We had family Christmas parties that lasted 1/2 the day on Christmas eve, and then MY family runs to different relatives houses ALLLL day on Christmas. By the time we got home about 5 yesterday, and unpacked the car, and MY parents came over.....I was tooo tired to walk to bed last night! ;) NO really, I had a GREAT RAW HOLIDAY!! :D I took crackers and herb cheese spread for Christmas eve (and the fudge recipe from this board!!) I liked and nobody else seem to eat ANY of it. One of my cousins children was SCARFING my fudge though, HUGE mouthfuls of it! :) HE said it was GOOD (he's 10 yrs. old) Christmas day was a LARGE salad for lunch, and some nuts and herbal tea for dinner (an ORGANIC banana for breakfast at my in-laws...they actually bought organic bananas!) :D
My in-laws bought me a juicer for Christmas. I'm in a delima about it because I wanted to upgrade to a Omega 8003 (or 8005) after Christmas, and they bought me one from Walmart. A centrifugal Hamilton Beach. I wanted one that grinds foods....so I really want to return it for store credit, and use that money for household expenses (like groceries) and order a new one. Is that terrible? I feel like a "slime ball" returning a gift. I feel so blessed that they thought enough of my lifestyle to buy me somthing they "knew" I would use!! So, I'm torn, but will probably not mention the "trade" and do it anyway.....my MIL...God love her, would probably ENCOURAGE me to trade and get what I want!!
Anyway, sorry for the long post. I know it's crazy, but I MISSED YA'LL THIS HOLIDAY....I WANTED SOO BAD TO CALL YA'LL EACH OF YOU ON THE PHONE AND WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
I'm feel sooooo blessed this holiday. RAW has changed my life. My dad, for instance, knows how I eat is healthy, and he and my mom eat a healthy SAD diet, but Christmas day when I saw him, he commented that after the Christmas eve party (complete with SAD meatballs, sausage balls, cakes, cookies, sad cheese dips and cheese balls, etc.) he was SERIOUSLY suffering from indigestion ALLL night, he said he thought he was dying (he was funny and did the old Fred Sanford "I'm coming home" (while he clenched his heart. Funny, but really NOT) I felt great BOTH days...and even better this morning.
Todays menu will be LOTS of water, herbal tea, green juice, salad, and I plan to make something special for dinner....now that I have time, and can spend some time in the kitchen! ;)
Prayers going out to everyone suffering....
Misslinda I'm worried about you! Take care of yourself.
Morn Sounds like you did more than just survive the holidays, you RAWKED! Your weightloss is inspiring....I need to jump on the exercise challenge...a new year resolution for myself!! I know my weight loss, and health depend on exercise too!
Dharmagirl yes, temptations are sometimes toooo hard to handle, but I've always felt that after I gave into the temptation, I always question myself later and wonder WHY I "did" that, it really wasn't good! Acknowledging that it wasn't good, is GROWING....feel good about that!
Girlsmiley YOU'VE DONE A GREAT JOB STEPPING INTO THE MUSIC DJ-ING! Thank you for that!
Vegan Princess At least your mom wanted to TRY raw. :D Her being interested shows that she knows what you're doing is RIGHT. Remember RAW is a growing process, she may get there, or at least incorporate more raw foods into her diet. I realize for everyone, 100% may just not be possible, but am thankful for ANY healthy changes they make!
Dreamrawalz Hang in there. Don't beat yourself up, this was a difficult time to STAY raw. Just jump back in....don't spend time wallowing (is that really a word?) in the "junk"....just get back to business! YOU CAN DO IT
I stayed raw because it always seems easier for me to eat "right" when I know others are watching. Even though my family (extended family) eats SAD....they watch me to see what I'm doing....it's alot of pressure, but I hope, as the new year progresses, the extended family that's closest to me, will see all the possitive changes, and want to make a change for themselves!
My post is WAAAAAYYYYY tooo long....sorry. I'm outa here!
Love ya'll.

Hey all, hope everyone had a great holiday.

It was just me and my husband this year, bc honestly I am still so worn out from the semester and from this bronchitis I've had for the last month or so I didn't want to travel or go all out this year visiting family, seeing friends etc. So we stayed in and watched 2 seasons of The Wire on DVD all day, had a great time.

My husband, who is not raw but LOVES making gourmet food on special occasions, made a whole bunch of really yummy raw food for us:

-apricot/oatmeal bars with frozen sliced banana on top
-goat cheese (made from pine nuts)
-morel mushrooms and herbs marinated in homemade raw apple cider
-nori hors d'oevres with cashew/vanilla bean/chili filling (absolutely delicious)
-romaine salad
-assorted organic juice concoctions

It was great. :)

Tvillemom: I got the Omega 8005 for myself a couple weeks ago. I love love love it. And it is really easy to clean...which I hear can be a big deterrant from using a lot of juicers. And yes, I am proud of my mom for trying. Food is just such a comfort for her and I know she won't ever give it up completely. But she at least says being vegan will be no problem after trying raw. She kept saying she is very proud of me though. So she approves of what I'm doing, just doesn't want to be 100%. She promised she'd eat more fruits and veggies though. :)

Well I spent 6 hours at the after christmas sales!! I got some amazing deals!!! Like $600 manolo blahniks for $200. Yippee!

I had juice for breakfast and a salad for lunch while out. I had 2 cooked popovers we brought home from Neimans...but popovers with my mom goes way back to when I was little so I don't feel bad. A serving of fries and 2 popovers since we started isn't a big deal.

Hey all! We're having Christmas dinner tonight instead of last night. Last night they all ganged up on me. Usually i feel attacked, but only after i say things, but with my family i'm literally not saying a word. I promised I'd stay quiet. Now they're saying that if i believe in it to say something, bbut i know i'll get MORE attacked. My sister was like "sure, run away because you know you're beat." as i was leaving the room silently. I went and called my (now) vegan aunt that i viseted a month ago. Felt much better after talking to her.

Having a bunch of veggies tonight :)

I have to sity at the table with a full turkey and a ham thing. I feel the energy. I feel sad for the animals. I seem to take on their feelings. Sounds weird i know, but once you're vegan, at least for me, i have a much stronger connection.

Have a wonderful day!

Vegan Princess About your Omega 8005.....does the chrome look like plastic?? Like, some "plastic chrome" looks like really cheap plastic chrome, others can pass as "maybe chrome" when you look at it?????? Does that make sense?? Thanks for your opinion.

My place of business closes every year between Christmas and New Years so today I was going through bags of "stuff" in the basement and filling my trunk for a trip to Goodwill tomorrow. It feels good to get some clutter out of the way. There is a lot of clutter to go through so I hope this won't be my only trip to Goodwill this week :D

ALICIA BRIDGES - "I Love The Nightlife"

Ooooh I, I love the nightlife
I got to boogie
On the disco 'round, oh yea
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Please don't talk about sweet love
Please don't talk about being true
And all the trouble we've been through
Ah, please don't talk about all of the plans
We had for fixin' this broken romance
I want to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live
Action, I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Ooooh I, I love the nightlife
I got to boogie
On the disco 'round, oh yea
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Your sweet talking won't make it right
Love and lies just bring me down
When you've got women all over town
You can love them all and when you're through
Maybe that'll make, huh, a man out of you
I got to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live

Action
I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Oh I, I love the nightlife

Good morning everyone! :D
Girlsmiley Thank you, but I am nobody's hero....there have been PLENTY of times I've slipped up! (just not this month ;) ) This group here...on the Disco thread, ya'll have been my support, and this is what has helped me sooooo much! But thank you so much for the compliment!
Misslinda Where are you? Are you feeling OK? Are you feeling better?? Sending prayers up for you!
Dreamrawalz: I hate to hear what happened to you at your families house. At least your aunt was "there" to help you out! Maybe, as time goes on, your family will start to see all the possitive changes in you, and realize what you are doing is right!
Swingbolder: WOW! What a hubby you have! I'd like to hear more about those nori hors d'oevres! I would love another way to eat nori that's not always a roll! :D What are you doing for that bronchitis? Hope you are well soon! Sending prayers up for you also!
Well....I'm waiting to hear from everyone else.......
Oh yeah, Girlsmiley what a fantastic job you are doing with the music!
Sharon of Colorado Hope your holiday was fantastic!
Well....see ya'll soon. I'm off to Google search Juicers, and find a GREAT bargain on an Omega 8005 OR 8003.....which one gets the vote here? I've already asked Vegan Princess about the "chrome" looking TOO plastic???? Does anyone know? I'll wait to hear from Vegan Princess! Hope she shows up soon! ;) I'm itching to get a new juicer! :D
Ya'll take care.

Hey guys and girls! Glad to see you're all boogying through the end of the year!

Girl smiley - Yay - bust that clutter! I've been doing it since November, got a lot of junk out ad organized. My goal was to finish before the holidays. I'm down to simple tasks now like drawers and shelves.

Great book - Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui - I checked it out from the library, it is a quick read and really helps you to let go of stuff that you may be holding on because of guilt or other emotions. I've been chucking letters, cards, gifts that I felt obligated to hold on to thus had in storage - all kinds of decor that I thought I had to put all over the house. It has been very, very liberating! I made a few hundred bucks on e-bay and donated stuff and now I'll have lots of write-offs for this year!

Tvillemom - thanks, my holiday was great, got lots of sledding in from the blizzard here! Was almost a perfect Christmas! I hope yours was wonderful as well!

I hear great things about the little Samson twin gear juicer. I have the Breville Juice Fountain.

Now, to get back on track, I'm trying to get through my 80/10/10 book before the end of the year and will be starting plan that in 2007. I'm psyched about it, and slowly transitioning into it. I had to make a quick run to return something and stopped in at Whole Foods - picked up some Mango Kombucha. That stuff is pretty powerful - got my stomach feeling all weird.

I am debating a short juice fast on January 1. Maybe a few days or a week. Got some major healing and really want to kick off the new food plan right!

Hi everyone. Mom left today...back to normal.

I don't think the juicer looks plasticy. But I will have to look again for you later when I get home from work. I think it looks pretty good.

I am becoming a stick in the mud when it comes to eating out. I'm not excited to go out to dinner with a date and I feel like I'm compromising by going to a prix fixe dinner for NYE (even though it will be vegan). I think my mom was a lil bummed we didn't eat out very much. Anyone else feel like this?

tvillemom
12-27-2006, 10:32 AM
Vegan Princess!!! I can soooo relate! Earlier this year, that was my failing point. DH and I were given a "date" night. I didn't even want to eat out! I got really depressed about it. I've learned alot about this behavior. The point of the "date" is going out and sitting down and eating, but mostly SOCIALIZING!! What does it matter what you eat. SOOOO I eat a BIG salad. Sometimes I take along dehydrated sunflower seeds (soaked in Braggs, wonderful flavor) to sprinkle on top. I "pretend" (sometimes) that this is the BEST salad I've ever eaten, so those around me don't feel sorry for me! Then, I try to always make sure I have a "treat" at home to reward myself when I get there! :D That has been working for me lately, so I hope this helps.

On another note: I DID IT...I ORDERED MY JUICER, JUST NOW!! I ordered the Omega 8005. I asked the guy from 2-life about the "chrome" and I think I will be pleased with the look of it! I can't wait to make some nut butter, and fresh juice, and pates in it (or thru it ;) ) Thanks for your help in my decision. I should have it in about 6 business days!! I can't wait!! What a great way to start my new year!! I wish I had a little "jump for joy" smiley face, I would use it now!!! YYYYAAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!

Anyway, thanks ya'll for all your support!
