As much as I hate to admit it, I am a carb addict! It has caused me to fail MANY times. I just cant stop at one serving , I fill up on bread, potato's, pasta, sugar, flour, those are my worst addictions I have.
Has anyone delt with this and overcame it on raw?

The raw carb equivalent would be fruit. These are good carbs.

SAD carbs and alive carbs are totally different!!!
I too was a carboholic, but after being on living foods for even as much as three days, I never want to go back to that awful feeling that I thought was so good at one time

You never fail on YOUR path. Set smaller goals. I ate 2 all-raw meals (breakfast and dinner) for about 6 months before I found a mostly raw dinner that satisfied me (chpped spinach salad with balsalmic vinegar and chopped almonds). Very hearty.

-You cannot STOP a bad habit without having a good one that you are MORE enthusiastic about. You'll do your own research and find snacks and a main dish that are satisying to you and meet your goals. Power to you.

This is soooooo true, it really clicked for me. The key is not only to find raw things that "substitute" for your SAD favourites, but ones that you love MORE than the SAD versions and you won't want that INFERIOR food anymore!! :)

Thanks David!

I'm a cooked carb addict and I really struggled to break that cycle, and what I found for me was that I had to go 100% raw to do it. Any amount of cooked carbs in my diet, would throw me back into it big time. Within a day of eating something, I'd be back to about 75% cooked, 25% raw. I also found that initially I had to stay away from the raw recipes and just eat simply for about 4-6 weeks. Once I'd lost my taste for the cooked carbs, I did add in some recipes, but I still eat pretty simply.

I find that eating simply is the best way to beat the carb addiction. I am also a struggling-to-stay-raw carb addict. I find that I can't let myself get really hungry (that causes me to crave carbs even more) and find easy, quick salads to eat (or other filling foods). I also CAN'T eat any cooked food, this causes me to slide into eating REALLY SAD foods! Hang in there....raw FOR ME is the only way to beat the carb addiction. I also agree with the statement that you have to find something that you love MORE than the carbs.....for me that would be RP's brownies, topped with "store bought frosting" and banana ice cream and fudge syrup. (all from this board) GOOD LUCK.

Yes Yes Yes - I too have been raw for about 2 1/2 months and I agree with going 100%. When you go 100% the cravings will disappear and you they will not have the control they once had. But you have to be drastic about it. I am not saying they don't look good or smell good or I don't have the memory of them, but I don't eat any because they are very addicting and I don't want to lose control. Also if you are drinking diet pepsi or coke stop cause that will also give you cravings for the SAD carbs. Good luck in your journey. It can be done.
