Is anyone interested in participating in raw potluck in LA? I live in Highland Park, so I'd love to start something for us east siders.

I would love to meet others in LA who are looking into or immersed in the vegan/raw lifestyle. I feel like an island since none of my friends are remotely close and all carnivorous. Closer to the westside would work for me, santa monica, west la, and maybe after dec. 16th...Any others?

Westside is a possibility, too. I'd love to get something regular going, maybe every 6 weeks or so. But let's give it a go once, and see how it goes!

One of you may wish to take over the meetup.com - raw food potluck. I headed it for 6 months, hosting 4 potlucks. There are currently almost 100 members. However, the first potluck had 15 - 18 people (I don't remember exactly), and the ones after that averaged 8 people. I don't have the time or interest right now in continuing it.

I know there are more and more people every day exploring the raw lifestyle; I meet many of them at the local raw restaurants and other raw events I attend. Sometimes just at the local co-op! It seems that for most to continue ... or even get off to a solid start ... they need to find/create a community of other raw-sters. Potlucks are good for them, but what I've found is that, after a while, they're solid enough and have made enough contacts that they no longer attend the potlucks.

Anyway ... random thoughts from my experiences over the last 2 years of being raw in the LA area.

Best of luck to you both ... and you others who lurk but don't post. If anyone wants to take over the raw & living foods meetup, just log on to meetup.com and you'll discover it.

Have fun. As Revvell always says: play with your food!

As RT says, join rawfoodmeetup.com. I did one and had 18 people show up. Didn't have the desire to continue. There are more and more joining every week or so. I was in Glendale at the time.

Come on over -- the weather's great and there's always an extra couch!

Couch???? *looks around apprehensively* ummm, hmph.

Well, bring a sleeping bag. We have lots of floor. :D

Well, okay ... I admit it's just a loveseat, but ... if you're really short, it should do! ;)

I am still leading one in CO for years, but never know who will show. I host it twice monthly. I have a co-helper/host, but the group can meet independently without my presence I recently found out. This is great news to me now that I am working some hours. The place is the key as we have a designated place, not a home, so that makes it burdenless to anyone doing it from their home and waiting on people. They are always fun regardless of the number count so don't be disappointed if less show. Food always awesome too.

RT, when I previously checked out meetup.com, I found it very confusing...I'm a bit of a Ludite, I s'pose.

And Frog, I don't own any beds, but I, too, have many square feet of floor and a whole wall of windows full of green scenes...nothing to compare with England, but you're more than welcome any time!! And the weather is awesome.
