Well, I researched alot while I was on vacation and found this not to be a "diet" but a lifestyle change. Diets usually don't last but a lifestyle change could definately be the ticket for me and to anyone else who is looking to escape the yo-yo dieting scams. I've tried them all. I need to lose weight and I am looking to improve my health and get back my freedom from the chains of being overweight and inactive. I used to be in the U.S. Army and at one time could run 8 to 10 miles or better and now couldn't run 8-10 minutes...not even close but I believe in Alissa's program and am eager to get started. So if anyone has any advice please enlighten me.
Thanks Tim

Welcome Tim to Raw Food Talk.

My advice would be to take a cruise around the message board here, find out what folks are eating , and you'll get a good idea. There's a ton of info here, ad the banana search button is a real time saver too.

Hi Sharon....How long have you been raw? I think once I get into the recipes it will make it easier...but once again thank you for responding. The banana button is a real time saver...didn't notice that.

Hi Tim, and welcome!

You sound very eager to begin, plunge into it and have fun! ;) Raw really is a lifestyle! I've been on this path for 9 months now, lost a lot of weight and is more active now than I have been for a long long time! It feels great to feel muscles instead of fat lol I wish you luck!

Fly forever free..

Welcome Tim :) and take credit for being open and courageous enough to embark on a Raw adventure. You'll find lots of support and info here... It's definately a lifestyle...and one that I've been enjoying for nearly 2 years now :) Weight loss is the least of the benefits you'll find...clarity of mind & spirit are added bonuses :)

Welcome Tim, good to have you here,

this is what I tell people, order Alissa's book and DVD, and while you are waiting for them to arrive, check out our recipe forum, AND go to the store, buy the fruits and veggies that you love, take them home, eat them, and repeat, it can be as easy as that.

When I first went raw, I made tons of gourmet foods, and now I eat mostly fresh pineapple, orange juice, some olives, and greens, I do eat some nut milks too,
but it's pretty simple now, the way I eat.

I do still on occasion, have a dinner party and make lots of raw gourmet foods for friends, and my boyfreind, but I still love just grabbing a pear, and eating it, too.

I could not have said it better, LIFESTYLE CHANGE. So happy to have you here. You will be a great addition to our Family, can't wait to hear more of your Journey.

We are here if you need ANY help of advice, just post a thread and the replies will pile in.

You're right, you have had some of the best training our money can buy. But you just can't let it die. You need to exercise, you need to Move on a regular basics. You might not be able to run for 10 minutes but you can walk for 20. I challenge you to walk 10 minutes away and walk back, that will be a total of 20 minutes.

It is you who must BUILD yourself up on the inside so that you will be able to get up and move. Tell yourself what you expect of yourself. Tell your body WHAT it MUST DO. When it gets cold, I don't want to get out of my bed early, but I put one foot on the floor and the other one follows. Sometimes I could return to bed after my walk but I don't want to.

I know you WILL do this........I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW.........Welcome to MY World..........
