Hi all, I've received some emails lately about people needind inspiration to go 100% raw, especially during the Holidays.
So, I thought let's just do it, we'll go 100% raw the day After Thanksgiving, now I know you can do it right now, and I know you can have a raw Thanksgiving, and that is great, I surely purely hope you all will.
But for some, that just isn't possible right this minute to even think of.
So, I'm starting this thread for any and all who wish to commit to go 100% raw starting the day after Thanksgiving which is this Friday.
I'm in, anyone else wish to join me?
I have all kinds of raw fresh organic ripe produce in my house right now, so I don't need to go to the store, but if you do need to, please knwo that you may have to go tonight, as many stores will not be open tomorrow, and you may not want to wait Friday morning to go to the store before you eat.
so, let's start by getting prepared for Friday, by making sure we have lots of fresh raw ripe organic foods in our homes.
I'll be munching out on pineapple, kiwi, orange juice, fresh veggie soups, and flax seed crackers, and If I'm really lucky, I'll have some fantasy deserts left over from Thanksgiving that I've made to take with me to friend's house.
so, who's with me.?????
YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO DO THIS!!!!

RP,
Sounds great! I am SO with you, babe! I mean, raw babe! Count me in! I just went shopping so I am all good.
Let's really go for it and keep one another supported and accountable--- as we always do, but step it up a notch or two!
I fell big a month ago when my mom visited and have been gaining raw momentum ever since, but not to 100% yet. So, the day after Thanksgiving it is!!
Raw love,

KEWL!!!!
the more the merrier,
If you are already 100% raw, are struggling, or are going raw today or tomorrow, you can still join us, there is no limit, no judgement, no nothing, we're just all going to be eating as much raw as we can, while striving to be 100 % raw `100% of the time, and helping each other through the stumbles and hurdles that can happen, especially during th holidays.
So, everyone, we wanna' hear from you, and we need encouragement.
Please.
YES, I agree, RAW LOVE--kind of like my old Junior high days of Flower Power, LOL

Ohhh, RP... I'm sooo with you! I've been struggling, and have been working my way back to raw, and was 100% a couple of days this week but ate some SAD again today, so I'm going 100% again tomorrow (it's not Thanksgiving here, we had it in October). I'm hitting Costco tomorrow for big quantities of fruit! :) Soooo, I'll be back to 100% tomorrow and will be here to support you guys when you start on Friday!
I'm taking Alissa's course next Thursday, so I won't have any trouble staying raw for those 5 days at least, LOL! So I just have 7 days until then that I need to stay 100% before I'm with Alissa and everyone... I'm soooo psyched about the class!!
How long are we going to go? I say a year... 2 years! 3 years!!! :D Or, we could just see how long we can keep the thread going and stay 100% raw and see if we can make a record thread!

I was thinking of doing this to get back on the wagon and now you've helped me...I was doing great up to 1/2 way through my 30 day challenge when I had guests come for almost a week and since then I haven't made it back, and in fact, I've pretty much been hiding out (not posting at all). So I'll be with you all tomorrow and in fact, might do some of the raw Thanksgiving recipes, this weekend. I just didn't have the time to get a raw meal together, although I will be brining a signature salad, to dinner tonight.
Anyway, hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. I have so mnay things to bve thankful for, one of which is this great board!
Blessings,

Count me in too! I really need this and went to the store last night and got some beautiful mangos, coconut, pears, apples, huge avocados, oranges for juicing, and lots of greens. I got everything to make Alissa's Falafal Balls (which I love topped on a salad) too. Yum!
I've had some health issues lately and this is just what I need to help with the healing process. Thank you Christine for starting this thread and encouragment for us all! Friday it is!

Why do you keep bringing up turkeys? Unless I missed something, no one has mentioned being tempted to eat turkey. Having struggles with eating 100% raw does not mean that people are desiring meat...in most cases it's stuff like rice, potatoes, bread or junk food. I haven't seen anyone mention turkey as one of their weaknesses for the holidays so I'm trying to understand why you keep mentioning turkeys.

salad-lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, raisins, carrots, radish, pinenuts, ACV, Balsamic vinegar
Living Fruit Bread
dates stuffed with pecans

fudge ball
I know this looks like a lot of food, but I have to keep eating to stay away from cooked food in the evenings, my most difficult time! And I am thrilled to have made it through the day 100% raw!

RP, you're a great cheerleader. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your honey bunny. :)
Today was hard for me. But I stayed 100% raw and I'm proud of myself. I really really wanted to stop for a coffee while I was at work. I was even going to make it decaf. But then I thought about the chemicals in decaf and decided even that was something I wasn't going to put in my 100% raw body so I didn't do it!! But it took me like half an hour of debate inside my head about it, LOL. I went for a run after my daughter went to bed and my run went really well (RAW RAWKS!!!) but then about 2 minutes after I got back in the house I felt sick. I don't think I ate enough today. I'm going to have to eat more food during the day, especially on running days. I don't want to feel like this again.
Cinnamon, don't even think twice about whether you're eating too much food. I think your intake looks great. Just stay raw and your body will start letting you know if it needs more or less.
Today I had:
bananas
pecans & raisins
apple
raw chocolate shake (almond milk, frozen bananas, etc)
clementines
might have more still... not feeling well...
tomorrow I'm planning a big salad for lunch as I'm really craving it and I know it will make me feel more satisfied...

Thank you Debra for the encouragement! I do think my problem leading to slips of cooked food is not eating enough and that yes, eventually my body will start letting me know how much is enough. Today was great, enough food to keep me full and away from the evening cooked binge monster! A nice mug of warm water and off to bed for me!

I'm up for this challenge............FOR LIFE! Like most of you, my weakness is the starches....the pies, and breads of the season! But, those are my worst culprit having come to raw due to possible celiac....the breads would REALLY make me sick.....but the temptation of scent is so powerful! I am aiming just to stay 100% evn if it means overindulging in RAW for awhile! The excess RAW that we eat is so much easier to reverse than the SAD sludge factory food that makes us moody, miserable and feeling more like scrooge! So, we shall band together and rally here, right? Not just for today but FOR LIFE!!!!!
Question of the day: Are you the only one's in your families that are raw or is your entire family raw? Just me at this house. My kids like raw fruit dishes and will sample things but they don't really ahve a desire to switch to "my style" of eating.....just wondering about you all. I think if they were all raw I would not be surrounded by so much TEMPTATION....but then again that's ther eality of our society!
Stay raw today my friends! I raise my juice glass to you! Cheers! ;)

RFrawRUNNER~
Your enthusiasm is great to wake up to today~ :) It's amazing what one day of 100% can make you feel like...let alone a lifetime~ :D I for one am looking forward to letting go of some health issues I've been having lately~
I had a great raw day yesterday and will today~
As per your ?~ I am the only one raw in my house. I have a daughter 21 and my husband here and also run a family child care. The little ones are great and eat in a very "healthy" way here at least compared to most SAD standards...they LOVE almond milk and eat lots of fruit. DD and DH on the other hand do not...but my feeling is that they are responsible for their choices and while I am the main food preparer I don't have to eat it. I don't make things that are hard for me to resist, and if something tempts me I just do something else while they eat. Sometimes I keep them company at the table and eat my own food and sometimes I let them eat and have mine earlier or later. It would be nice if they prepared their own food, etc..but that is not the way we have set things up here and I am ok with that. Just have to find what works best. They are, at least, very supportive of whatever I need to do.
Wishing everyone a day filled with the abundance of raw~

I love the way you put this, that the excess raw we eat is much easier to reverse than the SAD we can fill up on. I will remember this since I do tend to overeat, I won't feel so bad about it at all now!
And for the question of rawness in the family. It is just me, everyone is supportive and very interested but they see me slip and then I feel bad like I'm not setting a good example of what I am trying to accomplish. I know I have to do it in my own way in my own time, but 100% is very different from say 80% raw when everyone sees that you do eat "cooked" foods and the next day you are refusing to eat the very same food because you are trying to be 100%! My consistency will certainly help me, but also my family and friends who do want to understand and learn more about raw even though they aren't interested in doing it themselves.
I do cook for others and am not tempted if I've eaten enough raw foods and stay prepared with lots of food in the house for me. The evenings are the hardest for me and I think for most people, dinner time and evening snack time. I think being prepared with lots of raw goodies ready to go will be my saving grace!

So, I ate a typical Thanksgiving meal (minus the turkey). But before dinner even started I got sick on the appetizers (I think it was the deviled eggs). Friday morning I woke up being sick to my stomach and uhh...well all those things associated with that. By the afternoon I was hungry so I ate an apple, later on an orange, and then a handful of raisins. I went to see Fast Food Nation with my parents and the movie didn't get out until after 8pm. I was starving!!!!! The only place without a waiting line was a steak joint. I really wanted to stay raw vegan so I looked at their salad menus. Almost everything had meat in it- hardly any vegies besides lettuce. So, I asked for the side salad minus the bacon, eggs, cheese and crutons. And I asked for some avacado. I got a dish of lettuce, 3 slices of tomatoe, some shredded carrots a couple slices of avacado. And can you believe that after taking all that meat off, they charged me 1.00 for the couple slices of avacado????? I mean, I took off almost all of the stuff on it!!!
How do you deal with eating out vegan????

Here's a suggestion: When you order, ask if you can substitute the meat (or cheese) for avocado, and then everything else on the side. This way they won't charge you extra, and then when everything is on the side, you don't accidentally get crouton crumbs or threaded cheese all over your greens.
P.S. RP was the one who inspired me to order a salad with everything on the side. It is great to get your "salad bar" presented with you, you get to pick what you want and put the the cheese, crouton and meat filled condiment cups in the middle of the table for everyone else.

although i did have some of my butternut sqaush on leftover day, i ate raw the rest of yesterday, and woke up this morning to some raw buckwheat granola and strawberries with almond milk.....yummm. to my amazement our whole foods in colorado springs now has an entire "eat raw" section in it. I'm way too lazy to make granola on my own but its great to eat when you crave substance.
I don't crave meat either, turkey was surely not the issue on thanksgiving...but the apricot cheese and well...you know pretty much everything else was, and now i'm sick in bed with a yucky cold.
Something Yummy:
around here we can get some apple cider called big "b"s and its not pasturized! It only lasts a few days without going bad, but i manage to drink the entire gallon before that happens, it SOOO good. It also says its cold pressed, so i know its 100% raw. It even taste better than the regular cider i use to get right off the orchard.

Right now in the freezer there is a a quasi macadamian/ date pie
crust
macadamian in food processor until crumbly but just before creamy added raw tutu fruit (same as mulberry I think), to make it stick and add flavor
pressed into pie plate
next layer
dates, removed seed mushed on a plate with cacoa powder and organic coconut kept blending with hands and pressed onto crust. Dates stick and stop my food processor whenever I put them in there.
Warmed in oven that had been heated to 150 then turned off. Wanted the stuff to kind of fim up
now in freezer
trying to achieve a sliceable firmness
will taste and report back
ok so it taste pretty good.
Left in freezer to long so had to let thaw, it's hard to cut thru frozen dates.
Hubby enjoyed it
Maca. crust stayed a really soft consistency so next time I'm going to make the nuts a fillinf and wrap the bate mixure around it.
The Macadamian and tutu fruit mixture had a similiar texture and taste of sandies or shortbread cookies. THIS IS A VERY GOOD THING
So guess what kinda cookies I'll be making once I get a dehydrator.

I've had mostly orange juice pears, and some truly great salads with wonderful raw dressings, it's so cool to tell the waitstaff what you need, and allow them to come up with truly fantastic dishes.
I find that if I go to a top of the line restaurant, the chefs seem to understand about the raw concept.
and lots of saunas this weekend, and hot showers, and rest and relaxation, I am in heavenly bliss.
so good to hear you are all doing so well,

Hi all, hope you are doing well,
whether you are 100% raw or 1% raw, you are in the right place, we are all on our own mission, on our own paths, at our own speed, so remember that we are here to help each other, and that is what this board is about.
so,
as far as helping with warming up during winter months, without eating cooked,
I make a creamy corn chowder to live for, and I add some cayenne and then warm to finger warm, this really helps me warm up the oils in the almond milk in the base of the corn chowder help you feel full, and since they are heavier foods, they also keep you warmer,
adding cayenne, onion, garlic, peppers, etc to foods help them keep you warm
eating more nuts, and squash and coconuts and oils and heavier foods helps you feel warmer too.
I know that during the summer, I eat almost entirely fruits, and when fall hit, I started eating more greens, now that winter is here, snow and all, I am eating more nuts and peppers to warm up the foods I'm eating,
so it's just a natural progression into heavier foods and tastes.
I also make hot coco, with almond milk and cacao, and agave and a dash of cayenne, really warms me up. YES!!!

I had a good day....all raw...not too hungry today...trying to decide if I want anything tonight.....
almond milk w/ banana(frozen)
maraw's choc. pudding
taste of her herb cheese (tsp)
water
1 brownie
A horribly unbalanced day food wise but I ate what I felt like having..not much of any of it.
think I will have a couple oranges or some honeydew and call it a night...feeling tired today~
Day #5 raw for me...very glad about that. When I have made dinner for my family the last few nights I have gone and done other things while they eat...tonight I took a long, hot shower...beautified myself~ ;)
Anyway...hope everyone is doing well~

I'm thinking maybe I should start a journal~~
I felt horrible last night...started about 6, I was exhausted...every bone in my body ached and I had a sore throat...also a headache that felt like if I shook my head my brain was banging against the inside of my skull. Really not well at all. I went to bed at 7:30...feeling better today. I've been 100% raw for 6 days.....day #7 today.........thinking it might be a slight detox??
My head is stuffy this morning and my ears are blocked......oh joy!!Well...keeping on~

I do hope you are feeling better today GlimR, it does sound like detox and at 100% for one week that sounds right to me.
My food plan for the day...
juice-carrots, cucumber, lemon, ginger, spinach, apple
soaked prunes and raisins
butterscotch mousse (minus the butterscotch if I can't find any!)
guacamole with flax crackers and nacho cheese pate
smoothie-banana, blueberries, orange, pear
green salad-what ever I've got in the fridge!

I started on saturday so I am just a day behind and doing well. I have cheated a few times once with a few spiriulia carob bites and another time with cooked humus. other than that I have been raw for 5 days! My energy level is higher and my body seems stronger. I also feel more peaceful. I am supposed to go out to dinner with my cooked partner and then to Handels: Messiah tomorrow in Boston. Any suggestions about dealing with restaurants? I might have to skip dinner and eat at home.

Well, I've been so busy with my house, and book, that I haven't been on here, I appologize to you all, and it looks like you are all doing so well too.
Glad to hear it.
GlimR, I' think you are detoxin' girl, just know that it will pass, rest as much as you can, lots of water, and cantaloupe seems to help me through detox, and also sauna if you can, specifically get as hot as you can, then shower off.
I know this helps to sweat out the toxins.
but I find that sleep really helps me through detox, and heave knows with as many times as I've been raw/off/raw/off/raw/off, etc, I know how to go through detox, LOL
Well, I've had orange juice and orange juice and orange juice and herbal tea and pizza today
gotta' love Costco they have 5 different kinds of oranges, mandarines, clementines, navels, valencias and some kind of Brazilian oranges, mmmmm
blended all together makes a wonderful juice, yummy, and since my son is here with me now and two of my granddaughters, I need lots of juice.
LOL

I had an incredibly busy day and pretty much forgot to eat so was suddenly ravenous around 5. I drove my daughter to work and gave a few minutes thought to running thru a fast food place........what insanityy!!! No way!!!
I came home and made maraw's cranberry almond slaw and alissa's guacamole...had that for dinner w/ a few flax/veggie crackers and feel sooooo much better.
In the dehydrator is a batch of onion bread and two of bell pepper crackers. The batter for the latter tasted delicious. I have a case of mangos and two big papayas that will be perfectly ripe tomorrow...am thinking papayas, mangos and frozen banana pudding.......oh yeah!!! Who needs cooked junk!! Not me!! *doing happy dance*
What else.....hmmnnnnnnn.. bananas, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, honeydew, zuchini, cukes, red, ripe tomatoes........ok, ok.....*getting a grip*
maybe an almond milk shake w/ frozen banana and hemp seed......lalalalalaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~
*wandering off*

Hello everyone. I'm glad we are all here!!
I'm in. I ate 4 delicious raw meals today.
My weight is up right now and I don't feel great in my body. An injury took me out of my running. I have a runner's soul and can't wait to get back!
I am loading up on my anti-oxidants to support my healing.
I did some elyptical today and that felt great. I am trying to keep my fitness level up even if I can't run. I have to make the best of what is today.
I found some incredible salad dressing today - all raw organic and vegan - Glaser Farms Pesto. I had some on a delicious pile of sunflower sprouts with my dinner.
I love raw living!! Best wishes to all the raw peaceful warriors in our group!!

Hello Everyone. I ate some good delicious raw food today. For some reason my head is not on straight and I am seriously overeating lately.
I am going to ride my spinning bike and have a light veggie salad for dinner. I am going to break out of the rut! I will not be satisfied until I do.

Did a little spinning today and had a nice raw salad dinner. I am definitely not feeling great and going through some things - a little depression and just not feeling great in my skin.
Raw is my way of life so I am moving forward.

Hi, How's every one doing?
I'm not doing too well as far as staying raw. you could probably tell because I haven't been posting much.
sometimes, I can stay raw for months, then sometimes, I get in my emotional stuff, and I turn into a human being, what's up with that? LOL
so, I am fessing up, you gize all seem to enjoy my human ness, or at least maybe you can relate to it, not necessarily enjoy it.
So, I have been eating raw most days, then eating a bit cooked at night, then of course, down into the spiral of full blown cooked, no meat but definitely cooked foods.
So, I am committing yet once again to the raw life, and starting right now, it's easy because I have a full tummy of cooked food, always best to start when you have your fill of your addictive substance, I know I have much more resolve at those times, and I am starting right now and will be raw,
so, here I go again.
please feel free to join me, in fact, I think if you have been having issues, or challenges then this is the perfect place for you.
so come on, fess up, I am, tell me how you choose to go raw right now, even if it's just for a few minutes, because if you can go raw for a few minutes, you can go raw for an hour, and if you can go raw for an hour, you can go raw for two hours, and if you can go raw for two hours, you can go raw............................................... ........
see how this works,
so I'm going raw for a few minutes, wanna' join me?
I'd love for you to jump right in,
and for any that have been raw, you are doing' great, keep up the good work, and tell me how you are doing it, because I need some inspiration here folks, it's your turn to inspire the boards, tell us all what you are thinking, what you are eating, what you are doing to keep yourself on the raw track, or what you are not doing, etc.
I am not going to go out to dinner or lunch or to restaurants for a while, I am not going to go to the bakery section of the store, I am not going to .......
fill in the blank.

(((RP)))~
We ARE human, and that, my friend, there is no getting around even given our inherant divinity~ :D Each moment is what we have and beyond that we can deal with it then~
I have been doing very well raw until last night...I could tell you why but what's the point? But at least it leaves me knowing WHAT sets me off, what I can do next time.....and I know there will BE a next time because yes, I too am human and life is just what it is~
But today is here, a new morning and life IS about the journey...and there is a gorgeous honeydew with my name on it~

Hi All. Raw Priestess, you are not alone. I was where you are recently. It just so happens I'm pulling out of it. I had a nice raw dinner and some coconut water tonight. I had a delicious shake this morning with sprouted brazil nut milk and goji berry.
I will always tell rawfooders my "position." I do not strive for perfection in this endevour. It is just my way of life. I am not going to use it as something to feel bad about. If I get off...I just get back on again cause this is in me.
I don't think perfectionism or obsession come from a healthy place in the human psyche. Those things usually come from addiction or the desire to escape or separate oneself from the rest of the human race. Or...they are used as a way to look down on others and feel superior. Long periods of raw eating have been highly beneficial for me on all levels but I don't want an award for it.
I use raw food and raw living to enhance the quality of my life - and it does many times over. It does it when I am 100% so-to-speak and it does it whenever I eat it...even if the percent is a whole lot lower.
This is the food I primarily desire to eat so this is where I belong. :o

GlimR. My mind just frazzled when I read your post. I thought you said 'I drove my daughter to work'. You look to be in your early twenties by the photos, so I have this image of you driving a four year old to their job at the office or wherever. Maybe I just read too fast.
