I am on day 3 of my juice fast and I was pulling up old threads and I have seen where some make smoothies for their juices. Is that still considered juice? or part of juice fasting? or is it to each his/her own? I just want to make sure that I am getting all of the benefits as this is my first fast and I had just come off of a slip up couple of weeks. thanks for the input

Hi Brenda,

Congrats on the juice fast! The idea is to get as much pure juice (with all its enzymes and nutrients) without the pulp. Now of course the pulp is good for the body, but since we are seeking to fast and give the digestive system some rest, we seek to avoid the pulp temporarily. So, to answer your question, smoothies are not as good as pure juice, but if all you can obtain is smoothies (meaning you have a blender but not a juicer), then that is much better than nothing at all. I do use the blender for bananas as I have incorporated them in this juice fast (I didn't do it on my last one). I am finding that I am still recieving all the wonderful benefits of Juice fasting (this is day 14 for me). I hope this helps you and I hope and pray for your tremendous success.

Peace.

Todd

Brenda,

Congrats on your juice fast - Todd is right, and to let you know we used smoothies, blended drinks and soup (which really was a V-8 use when put in the vitamixer), to abstain from eating any solid food - we called it a liquidfast to avoid the confusion.

Congrats Todd - you and your family are doing very well!
