This isnot for me but for a friend...does anyone know what effects, if any, raw food has on chronic back pains due to tight muscles....from personal experience (not just something you read or heard)?
What has not worked so far...massage, reiki, chriopractic sessions, injections of muscle relaxers, otcs, etc.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just eating/transitioning to raw has helped me out quite a bit. I had an undiagnosed illness where my legs would randomly seize up and I couldn't unbend my knees without alot of muscle pain down the back of my legs, if I could unbend them at all. Since I've dropped meat, have dropped most dairy products, and am eating more raw the problems have gone away. I thought for sure I was going to have issues with vacation since we were going to be doing alot of walking for six days straight.. Nope.. not a single problem at all.

I think back pain is associated with the intestines and kidneys. About 15 years ago I pulled my back and was on several pain killers and was instructed to rest for a week. (This was prior to becoming a massage therapist.) Ever since my back would bother me. I have had zero pain since raw food and I know it has something to do with my intestines. When I would eat meat for a few days in a row, the pain would resurface. All the muscles around that area get tight because the problems in the intestines affect the position of the pelvis, thus creating tight muscles attached to it. Most people who have back pain are highly sensitive along the bladder channel and kidney area of the low back. I see it time and time again with my clients. I always instruct them to drink plenty of water and to limit their meat intake to every other day opposed to every day.

Wow! I used to have this same problem. This is what led to my diagnosis of diabetes. I still don't know exactly what causes this problem. I've been told it is diabetic neuropathy, venous insufficiency, fibromyalgia, and even psoriatic arthritis. I think I have a combination of the first three things. Not sure the last one is something I do in fact have. At any rate, I've gotten MUCH better. I still have to be careful not to do too much walking, standing, etc. or the problem will return. But at least now when it does happen, the recovery time is only a couple of days. Used to be a couple of weeks and then all I could do would be crawl or scoot across the floor. Standing up was just too difficult. And then if I needed to sit down, I simply could not. Legs just wouldn't bend. I'd have to force myself to flop over sideways. I hated having to explain that to the Drs. because they simply didn't believe me.

I also, have chronic back pain. Yoga, postural restoration, and now RAW, has helped tremendously. The body now has the energy to heal dis-ease in the body. Before it spent it on digestion. The emotional release is just as big. The body has stored so much over the years. My body is very happy I've given it the chance to do some healing. :) Again, yeah for Live Food!

I used to have chronic back pain due to having gotten epidurals during the birth of my children. But since having simply gone raw, I no longer have the back aches that once plagued me. Same with stiffness in my knees...gone!

That is interesting juliebove.. I had the same problem with the Dr's.. the only one that belived me was my main Dr. and I think that is because she saw me with it in her office. They tested me for so many things that it was silly.. first they said Lupus.. then no it isn't that.. might be this.. no not that.. this.. no not anything. Bah. Changing my diet fixed it so that is all that matters to me. They had never seen anyone else with this problem either. Nice to know I wasn't alone or going nuts :D
