I have raised this before but never actually found the answer.
I have not been able to track down a jicama in the part of England I live and that surprises me as we have lots of Asian and Indian shops in the neighbourhood.
Therefore, I'm assuming that jicama must be known as something else in England so I'm appealing for anyone who knows to please share the secret :)
I am very keen to try Alissa's potato salad recipe as I need a PMT carb fix.
Thanks in anticipation.

Jicama is a Mexican food so you may well not be able to find it there. I can find it here on the West coast of the US but I could not find it on the East coast.

It's available at Wild Oats in the states brought in from Mexico.
It's called jicama in the UK, too, but not easy to find. If you ask a big greengrocer to order some in specially for you, they probably will -- that's what I did. It tastes a bit like a root-vegetable version of a golden delicious apple. I decided it's nice if easy to get hold of, but not worth going out of my way to find. Good luck tracking one down.

Thanks for the replies. I will indeed keep looking but I won't beat myself up if I can't find it.

Hi English Tracy,
I am German, but live in China - neither here nor there have I found Jicama. I have a friend in Mexico and she sent me pics with the veggie but I haven't been able to get it anywhere...
cheers,

We have an abundance of jicama here in Thailand. It isn't just a Mexican food.
