I've never made these before because she uses tamari and nutritional yeast flakes which aren't raw. But yesterday I decided to make them without the above and wow!
They're just like Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages.
1 1/2 carrots
200g cabbage
125g sunflower seeds, ground
2tbs flaxseed, ground
1/2 onion
Break down to a thick paste in the food processor. Shape into sausages. It said dehydrate for 4 hours, but it took much longer than that. Maybe she uses a higher setting. Make sure you turn them over when one side is done.
I made double quantities, because it only makes about 10.

I never tried any of Linda Mc Carthney's stuff because the ingreedents were so unhealthy but everything in this is great.
These sound really interesting. I think my little grandsons are going to love them -- I'm going to try them, anyway. Thanks for sharing...

Kate Wood has a new book coming out at the end of July - it's called 'Raw Living'.
It's available to pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. Sorry but I haven't checked Amazon.com but I would think it's there too.

I checked and it looks like Amazon.com does not have that title yet. :(
We will live vicariously through you until it becomes available.
hmmm, I didn't see this the first time around. Sage and oregano would be good in it.

Rawgreenyogini - you could probably order it from the UK Amazon site. My husband and I often order stuff from Amazon.com and the postage and packing doesn't come out too bad. It's worth it if you really can't get a book you want locally.
I have placed my order and am looking forward to getting the book. I will review it on RFT when it arrives!

Thanks for the tip! I will check it out. You have some great raw fooders in your neck of the woods and some of their books are not available here. I will check it out today.
Thanks!!

beppa, I have a food scale in grams, I will post the measurements for you after I make it. Things vary a little in grams to cups depending on the weight or density of what you're using.
I'm also thinking a little fennel seed and crushed red chili pepper will make it a little more sausagey, of course salt and pepper too. Even a little ground sundried tomatoes, paprika or something.

Here are the details from amazon.co.uk It is not currently carried by the amazon .com. I will just have to pick up one when I next go home to the UK!:o
Hey Rawgreenyogini, I am going to see if Barnes and Noble will order it for me and I will let you know as I live round the corner! Although I havent had much luck with getting UK books through them.

beppa, the sunflower seeds turned out to be almost exactly one cup.
The cabbage was more than I thought, it's hard to describe, but maybe close to 2 cups in volume with airspaces, not really packed down.
NOTE: I made these today. To me the recipe is a good base but I need more spice for it to be "sausage" for me. I will tweak and post a new recipe down the road, but I added 6 sundried tomato halves, 1 tsp ACV to take away the pastiness, 3/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pink pepper and 1/2 tsp black pepper, 3 sage leaves, 3 sprigs fresh oregano, 1/8 tsp fennel seeds crushed, 1 small fresh hot red pepper, 1/2 of a cut up dried red chile (you could use crushed red chillies instead), and a little smoked dried chile ground into powder to give a little smoked taste. Sounds like a lot of different chiles, but the fresh one to my taste was really necessary as it was missing a tangy "fruit forwardness" of a fresh chile. I used a two shallots instead of 1/2 onion, and nama shoyu to give a meatier taste. Worcestershire would be good if you use non-raw condiments, and if you use it you could use onion powder or garlic powder. And I could see the nutritional yeast from the original recipe working in small quantities if you use that stuff.
Then, LOL, I used a bakers icing bag without a tip and piped it into little mini sausages (like breakfast sausages). It would also make a nice hot dog with lots of different raw condiments, mmm corn relish, mustard, mayo, etc...
ANOTHER NOTE: It was a large quantity of stuff to do effectively even in my large cuisinart, I would suggest blend the carrots and cabbage first to chop finely, then add the seeds etc. I used the dry container of the Vitamix to do the sunflower seeds and flax and sundried tomatoes and fennel.
