Hi,

I have been thinking about going raw for a few months and after doing lots of research on it, I have decided that it is time. Any suggestions on how to start? Any equipment that you think I should buy? Currently, I eat a vegetarian diet so I don't think the transition will be that difficult.

I can't wait to get started!!

Thanks!

I'm glad to see you here! For the basic diet you really only need a knife and a cuttingboard, beside that there's a lot of things which makes it more fun and sometimes even a bit more practical. It depends on who you are, if you are into gourmet and spending time with new creations in the kitchen or you would rather just grap something to go. For the gourmet, a dehydrator would be good, I don't have one but would really enjoy having one ;) I got a blender a month or so into my journey and I really love it! It allows me to do porridge, smoothies, soups, nut mylks and the famous wheatgrass juice. Before that I only had a little chopper thinghy but it did help on the deserts (chopping up raisins and nuts which were a pain to do by hand) Look in the forum for Recipes under the thread "Recipes- Photos only" and see what tempts you! Then you know at least! Or even better, if you can, then go to a raw food restaurant, go beserk and try most of the menu and THEN decide! For me the equipment is based on my economy :p I hope this helped just somewhat, welcome on board!

Hi and welcome.

I have a juicer and a blender and i use both regularly for soups, smoothies, juices, milks, sauces, dressings etc.

I am still in transition and enjoying it. I eat raw 2/3 of the day with one cooked meal.

Hi, welcome to the board.

You might want to check out Alissa Cohen's book "Living on Live Food" (this is her website). It addresses many of the questions you ask. :)
