I don't know how to make offically 'sun dried' tomatoes but I do make them in my dehydrator. I've found that roma tomatoes work best and I simply slice them in half and dehydrate them at 110 degrees until they are dry. It depends on the dehydrator and the tomatoes on how long it takes.

I hope that helps!

You can also put them out in the sun and cover them with netting. As long as it's hot and dry, they should do fine.

my dear sanjay the drying time will vary depending on your climate.

Just put them out in the sun and and after 24 hours start checking on them every 4-6 hours.

You may need to flip them over, if the undersides are moist.

When they are dry and hard, they are done. No need to use spices or oils, just putting them out there plain will be fine.

It will probably take at least 24 hours.

This is how grapes are made into raisins.

I am so glad it turned out so nicely for you! You can cut them up into salads, or use them in lettuce wraps. they have a very intense flavor. You can even rehydrate them in a little water and blend with fresh tomatoes for a sauce or soup.

I just read this, and I love sundried (soaked for about 1 hour) and I add them to the chili recipe from the board, and also to flax crackers. LOVE sundried tomatoes.
