I am considering doing a speach on raw foods.

I am a member of Toasmasters International, it is a club where people come to practice public speaking. My next speech is supposed to be persuasive. I am considering talking about the raw food diet. I did not write the speach yet, I am not sure what angle to take, I could talk about 100% raw food diet or I could talk about the benefits of fruits & veggies in general. The audience there is mixed, a few very health consious, a few looking to lose weight and some could not care less.

I want it to be a motivating upbeat speach, no preaching.
Any suggestions?

I was asked to be "guest speaker" this week on a monthly conference call for the gluten-free lifestyle. It all started when I brought some of the Onion Bread Crackers along to one of their members' homes. She was ecstatic to find such a great cracker! I also brought a frozen chocolate pie (brownie crust, choc mousse pudding)
This group is based in NYC but people were participating from all over with 60+ online, I was told. I gave them some basic information, with some real pep talk on natural, fresh, living, unprocessed, unrefined, etc. etc., then gave them the Onion Bread recipe with suggestions for variations, the Brownie recipe, and Zucchini spagetti, fettucini and lasagne noodles.
I happened to mention dairy-free cheeses and many showed a lot of interest in perhaps asking me to come on again for a dairy-free program.
So you see that there are various angles to approach this from and specific areas of interest you could address.

You could either do a more scientific speech on the actual effects of cooking on food proteins / nutrients / etc.,....or just do a more passionate speech (with lots of pictures) on raw food recipes. Just some suggestions. Or, you could do a speech on the bio's of many of the raw food gurus. Some of their lives / recoveries are VERY inspiring.

Thanks David,

Last week I did a speach about the Vitamix. I brough it with me and made carrot apple & orange juice. Everyone loved it.

This speach is supposed to be persuasive. There is a speach manual that I have to go by. I know from experience that I am not very good at talking science, I have no background in it. I really want it to be very possitive, I don't want to seem like I am beeing judgemental about their eating habbits.

I did a persuasive speech on NOT eating fast food. I started with questioning them like "are you always tired after you eat? have acne? need a midday pickup? these are all ways your body is trying to tell you want you're eating is not good for it..." It sounded better than that, but I can't remember exactly what I said. You can go on from the benefits side and why it is better? How cooking denatures the foods and that it produces an acidic environment and that harbors disease...something like that?
