I chose to do raw food as part of simplifying my life. I also want to get healthier as I am getting older and things are just not working like they used too. I have also found I can live with less things around me. I want it real, basic simple. I, over the past 1 or so, have decluttered majorly and I thought it was were I wanted to be but now I want to get rid of even more. The simple principle of raw food has made me realize I am over abundant in everything I own from food, clothes, personal products, house stuff, large car, etc. I know it may sound silly, but the raw food life has opened my eyes to the bigger picture and I want it to be even less cluttered. Has this happened to anyone else???

Yessiree.

Lately I have been getting rid of all kinds of junk, old letters, things that give me strange memories of people (and my old self), guilt gifts I've hung on to for fear of offending the gift-giver. As I type right now, many old letters are being burned in the fireplace.

I've sold over $250 of my stuff on e-bay, this is just from a couple of rooms I've cleaned out. I have more stuff to sell, as well as have given away several large bags of clothes and stuff to goodwill.

It is very freeing and mind-clearing to get rid of stuff. A great little book I got from the library - Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui - I don't remember the author, but it was a very quick read and has inspired me do just 'let it all go'!

My goal is to get through the whole house by Thanksgiving, a day to be truly thankful for what I have, and being able to say I've given away, sold or passed on plenty of things that others can be thankful for as well!

And you are right cat, it's all about abundance, which means to me, being grateful and happy for what I have, not trying to hoard as much junk as I can!

I am so there as well.

I cannot stand clutter.

I am going to be donating a bunch of stuff-(I do it every year)-to the Salv. Army. What a rewarding & cleansing feeling.

Remember the George Carlin Album/skit about buying a bigger house just to put more *stuff* in..LOL..Well, I like the idea of simplifying & the longer I am Raw the more simple I want my life to become.

PS. I think we carry around a lot of stuff in our minds that get cleared as well through Raw.

It's funny, I strated declattering right before I went raw.

Ooh - this is a great way to get rid of something that you still feel attached to, but really have no use for, and/or gives you a funny memory. A few wonderful ideas, from the book I read.

1) You can take a picture of the thing(s). It is so much easier and cleaner to store a photo.

2) If it is a cookbook or other kind of book, donate it to your library, that way you can always check it out if you miss it. She wrote that none of her clients who did that even checked out their books.

3) If you are really stuck about getting rid of it (them), place it in a box with some other stuff you aren't sure about, and put the box in an obscure place in your house, maybe the attic or a basement, way off in a corner somewhere. Mark your calendar 1 month to 6 months ahead to check the box. When the date comes, and you can't remember what you even put in that box, then it is time to say good-bye to those items.

4) Once you get rid of the item, it really frees up something in your brain. It is hard to explain, but as I was going through the old letters and cards this weekend, a lot of negative memories and emotions came up in my mind. Much of this stuff was from my dead life, before my heart was changed spiritually. Initially I had put it in a large trashbag, but then I realized it would be put to better use in the fireplace, more appropriately recycled (for me). As it turned out this morning it was extremely cold and perfect for a roaring fire - and I had plenty of fuel around from my decluttering!

I;m cleaning out my closet of summer clothes that are of no use for me. I also love an uncluttered life, or that everything I have is something I really use.

I started decluttering a few years before I went raw, but I find the feeling has intensified now. Each time I look through things, I find more I'm willing to give up and I'm now looking at ways to simplify my clothes even further and try to get down to about half a dozen outfits for warm and another half dozen for cold weather. Of course, some of the things I'd get rid of my DH won't go for yet, but maybe someday. ;)

My sentiments exactly! I went raw and I've been steadily de-cluttering ever since -- so liberating...

Raw food has made me want to become a celibate ascetic monk, subsisting on light and air only and spending all of my hours sitting on a mountain top contemplating oneness, such is my desire to imitate Gandhi and become one with the natural divine oneness of conscious creation of which I so revere.

Then you'll become attached to the picture, which somewhat defeats the purpose.

I feel this way too!! Actually I'm going to donate a bunch of my clothes (which I used to horde) at the end of the month when I move away. I'm trying to come with some replacements for the pants since they don't fit me anymore, but at the same time I'm just glad to be decluttering and giving things away!
