View Full Version : Mashed Potatoes Change

Ok.. so today I made the mashed potatoes & gravy from Alissa's book.
OH MY GOSH it tasted good!

But... I made a few changes.

First, I cut the mashed potato recipe in half. To me, this makes enough for 4 people if it's cut in half because it is so rich.

Second, I found them too juicy, so I ended up putting them in the nutmilk bag and straining much of the juice out. I LOVE the consistency now that the juice is out. This leads me to think that a person could use the leftover ground up nuts from nutmilk to make this recipe... yay!

Third, I DOUBLED the gravy recipe and I used portabellas. I ended up having to add a little water to make it the right consistency. But dang, it's good!

I didn't have sage, so I used poultry seasoning this time.

This is definitely going to be an addition to my raw Thanksgiving dinner!

It's about 15 minutes after eating the mashed potatoes and gravy and I have a really upset stomach. Could it have been the portabellas? Anyone else have this reaction to raw mushrooms or the taters?

Now I"m sad... this was really good. :(

Particularly when I dehydrate them, I get quite a bad tummy - diahrrea, actually. I don't know why. It doesn't happen with the regular shrooms.

Thanks for the tips on the 'taters recipe. I really loved it how it is in Alissa's book, but straining and cutting it in half sounds awesome.
So sorry you have a tummy ache - dang!
