I have been taking maca for the last two months. Looking at the nutrional content, it seems to be very high in nutrients. I have not had the "increased sexual desire" as many claim it will do. I have seen that it has decreased my bloating and pms symptoms to zilch. I would like to know if anyone else has benefited from taking maca, and if so how?

Hey Miss

I have been getting some from whole foods now for a few months. they sell a pre-powdered raw form. (though I think its best to buy it and ferment it yourself, but I havent done that yet)

Anyway, I definitely get benefits from it.

First off,, more energy. Though as I have alot of energy on my diet already that is a lil hard to pinpoint the extent of the energy lift, but there is some i think.

The thing I have noticed though, *blushes*, is that it makes me REALLY horny lol. :o

No joke. As a healthy man I am used to waking up with a certain friend present at times lol, but since I have taken the maca root there is a definite increase in that and the level of hormone i think. Just ask my wife! :o

So keep on taking it! As long as your overall diet is adequete with vits/ minerals and the like you should get a definite benefit from it. It started making me extra horny after about the 2nd week of taking it.

OK...now that I have embarrased myself.....

How much should you take, and how often? I just bought some. Do I take it every day? Or 2 weeks before PMS symptoms start? I would love to know... I was wondering if you took it daily, would it lose its effectiveness?

Yes. I used it regularly and stopped 6 months ago and over last three months my breast soreness during my cycle has returned with vengence. SO I went back to it. Libido on maca... :D

They wanted $39.00 for the bag how much are you all paying?
This bag contains maca powder so how do you take it?
Whenever we are able to afford it i'll be paying the bag, that's for the benefits, i can hardly wait to try it :) :) .
Thanks

Hi Missrawdiva,
I've been taking maca in capsul form for a couple of weeks and didn't notice a huge difference...however, in David Wolfes' book Naked Chocolate, he suggests rolling a raw cocoa been in agave nectar and then dipping it in maca powder and "once you do that, you will know the truth". Well I tried this and he's not lying! I'm married and to keep things simple my husband is now constantly asking me if I'm going to take some of those "maca chocolate things today?" ;)

I unfortunately suffered from very bad *wind* when I tried maca powder!!

This rather put the dampers on any potentially increased sex drive!!

I think I'll have to try and introduce it again slowly to see if the same unfortunate side effect recurs.
