Hello there, everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know why I am here and get any advice that I can get. I am not raw. For the past five weeks I have been enjoying raw foods probably for the first time ever, though. Before then, I maybe ate two to three raw foods each week. Anyway, i met a gal who has quickly become a dear friend to me. She is a raw foodist and had heard about one of my sons from a mutual friend. The son that she heard about just turned four. He has cerebral palsy, has a "resolved' seizure disorder, and is 99.9% g-tube fed. He has had his tube for two years now. He started out the first six - seven months on the tube with pediasure. That brought gagging, vomiting, and mucus all day and all night. Then I met a friend who suggested raw goat's milk and a blenderized diet. It was hard to make the transition, mostly because of fear. I was scared that I would get into trouble and he would lose more weight. But we took the plunge. So at this point, he was getting goats milk blended with cooked meats, grains, veggies, fruits, and oils (not all at same meal, but you get the gist of the change). He went from vomiting all day long to no vomiting WOWWWEEEEEE. Over the next two years, I would tweak the diet due to health needs (take him off of milk during a cold, add more oil when he wasn't gaining weight ) Then I met my new friend about six weeks ago. Do I dare take the plunge again? How can he gain weight. She told me that he would lose weight at first and he has. I am very scared about that since it shows only a seven pound gain since his g-tube surgery two years ago. He got as high as 32 pounds and is back down to 27. Not all due to the raw food, I am sure. Some of it was from an intensive physical therapy clinic for three weeks this summer. Anyway, I am looking for some encouragement and ideas. We don't have a vita-mix, so I just blend a lot. I give him greens with every meal. He eats about three avocados every two days. I give him about three TBS oil each day. I give hime lots of nuts ( this is new in the past two weeks ). I was still continuing with the raw goats milk for calories until Wednesday when he got my cold. Anybody know of anybody who is fed raw food via g-tube. Also, since going on raw food, he is more willing to eat. He ate some avocado on his birthday and some raw pumpkin pie this week. We are Christians and we believe God has given us both of our sons as wonderful gifts. We call the g-tube fed son our faith builder. We have seen wonderful amazing things because of him one of them is his seizures being gone for over three years now!!! He does not talk, walk, or crawl, but I am sure he will someday. Now for me, I would love to be raw, but I am weak. My husband is all for whatever we can do for our son and for me for that matter, but he and our other son love their meat and sweets. One thing at a time. I really LOVE food, so I will work on myself when our son is a bit more stable eating this way and hopefully gaining weight. If anybody prays out there, please pray for our son to GAIN weight ASAP. Thank you sorry so long. Can't wait to hear from you all.
