Hi all,

I just got my excalibur dehydrator and have made 2 kinds of flax crackers - the simple recipe and the banana flax crackers - both from Alissa's book. Both recipes call for soaked flax seeds...not ground up. I was under the impression that whole flax seeds are not digestible. Does soaking them before hand make them digestible? Thanks!

Soaked or ground are good.

I usually soak then grind. If you don't grind, I think they have a cleansing effect, but would not be as digested.

Soaking apparently takes off the outer coating of inhibitors that stop the seed from sprouting, When you dont soak the inhibitor coating on the seed makes correct digestion of the nutrients not as effective.

Thanks for the replies. I think they are passing right through if you know what I mean! Ick!! I think I will be grinding them from now on!
