This is very interesting. When I first started to eat mangos, I always did the second option. Now I peel first, and it seems to get more of the meat out that way. It can be a little messy though.

Peel first, then slice the meat around the pit!

i too always did the second option...but then i would put the peel up to my mouth and try to eat the flesh off as close to the peel as i could...boy oh boy, i had a terrible rash...swelling, bumps, itching the whole thing...i may just start to peel and then slice. messy though.

Im with Sharon - I used to 'hedgehog' the flesh in the skin but now I peel and cut away and get more flesh that way...mmmmmm
