Okay here are a few things that are going on withme and I find that a bit baffling...

1. I'm on Day 3 (juice/water)and feel pretty good. A little tired but good
2. My skin looks better, instead of worse
3. Only a 5 lb weight loss last week when I was eating light in PREPARATION for this fast, but no weight loss during these 3 days
4. I have walked/jogged 4 mi each day to really work up a sweat. I think this may be why my detox symptoms are not so bad? Could this be true? Also-my sweat actually smelled like the Yogi fasting tea I have been drinking...could that be true? or am I imagining it?
5. I feel good, but also sleepy. Is that detox?

ETA: almost a year ago I did a couple of short fasts 3-5 days and then a 14 day one. My detox was AWFUL. Then I ate high raw for a month, 100% raw for a month and then high raw for 2 months...but then I went right back to eating too much and some junk food. Not alot, but some just about every week. So do you think that's why my detox isn't so bad?

I'm not a fasting expert, I'm on my second apple/apple juice fast and I thought I'd put in my input :p

I feel the same way. It's a weird combination of energized and content and tired.

2. My skin looks better, instead of worse
Me too!!! It's SOOO much softer and any breakouts are gone within a couple of days.

3. Only a 5 lb weight loss last week when I was eating light in PREPARATION for this fast, but no weight loss during these 3 days
I'm wondering if our bodies are more healing themselves than worried about dropping weight... I'm sure that once we get through the initial detox and cleansing, we'll start losing.

WOW I admire you for this... keep it up! I think that any movement helps move things through our systems faster, which is why your detox could be easier, because the yuckies aren't hanging around for long. Yes, it could be that your sweat smells like tea. I remember when I used to drink a lot of coffee, all of my waste/sweat smelled like coffee. Why not? :D
Keep rawking!

Thanks for your response. Now I don't feel so alone! I'm attempting a longer fast, more than a week and up to 30 days...we'll see. Here are a couple more things I noticed:

I'm not nearly as focused on food as I was in previous fasts, and the cravings aren't too bad, but each day stretches out for miles and miles and miles. and I'm pretty irritable. I look forward to going to bed, so I can say "Phew! I made it!"

I'm feelin' kinda blue about fasting right now and I'm only on Day 3!

Is there a time where one actually ENJOYS the fast?

Hi Purl...

Sounds like you're doing so well! This time I am going for an extended fast too! Would be great to share some of the journey. You're sure welcome to join in with the fasting support thread anytime if you want.

As for feeling good... it seems like each fast is different. For me, fasting overall is so freeing... and I love how light and energized I feel. :p
