I have been suffering a major head cold since Sunday. I am stuffed up and my eyes feel ooozing and basically my whole head could be lopped off and I'd feel a LOT better ;)

I'm wondering if I should skip going for a walk or trying to do and calensthetics (how do you spell that  ) or strength or anything..?
I always hear conflicting information. Rest. Exercise. No, rest. No, exercise!

What's your opinion?

rest rest rest rest

fresh juices, cut down on solid foods, take a nap if you can

once you begin to feel better than "lop my head off please!" (lol) then a light walk in the fresh air will do you some good :)

I hear it both ways too.

I would say rest when you are fatigued, and do light exercise when you get a surge of energy. Do you have a rebounder? This would be very healing and get everything flowing in you. The lymphatic system gets a great jump-start. Or just briskly run up and down some stairs.

Also try rest/sleep with a window open or cracked, it is amazing what fresh air does for congestion.

And keep the fluids going! :)

Thanks to ya both.

I had a fresh green juice, and then a vitamin C smoothie --

I'm resting for now, but I do think a stroll outside later would be good, I totally agree about the fresh air.

It's not so bad if I think of it as detox - That way I get the silver lining of my discomfort. ;)

I doubt I could push myself to exercise if I tried. After posting this, I thought to myself, what a silly question. Oh well. My teachers always told us there is no such thing as a stupid question (and then when I asked a question I was told I should know and never got an answer. What a way to confuse a kid!)

The only time I don't exercise is when I am physically tired, or I have an injury which physically prevents me from doing so.

No other excuse is good enough to prevent me from doing what I love.

I would get my butt out and move it. I've stated this many times here that I lessened the normal detox time from 7-10 days down to a weekend by dancing my tush off while sneezing, blowing my nose, etc.

The lymph only moves when the body is moved. Of course, rest as usual and assist with plenty of fluids.

I am a runner and my running rule is this ..

I will not run if I have a fever, a cold that is "below my chin" ( in my chest or throat), or if I feel dizzy. The LA roadrunners adopted this rule and most of us try to stick by it. I have found that if I have a stuffy nose / head cold.. running helps it out immensely. I am sure this would work for other forms of exercise as well.

P.S. I have only gotten sick in the laxt 6 years (twice).. a cold (2 years ago) and I developed bronchitis while pregnant with my daughter ( I went from running marathons to sitting on my butt for 7 months). I guess my lungs got mad at me or something.

REST!! Your body is giving you clear messages when you aren't feeling well that it wants to rest. You will get better faster the more you rest and the less you eat. If you must eat, stick to juicy fruits only.

I hope you feel better very soon!!

All the best,
