Not unless it says it is, but I've never seen any raw in the store. Raw hummus doesn't taste a thing like the real thing.

you can make a raw hummus out of sprouted chickpeas, and you can find raw tahini at most health food stores

I wouldn't consider store-bought hummus raw, but I make a raw hummus using sprouted garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas) that tastes pretty darn good. I've also made it with sprouted aduzki beans that was delicious. Exactly like cooked? No but then again, does it have to be?

The sprouted hummus doesn't taste great (to me), but there are some hummus recipes using zucchini which is supposed to be pretty good.
Suggestion - try halving the recipe just to make sure you like it first.

I bought raw black sesame spread lately (higher in calcium than the white one) and it is delicious to combine. :)

I tried the sprouted hummus recipe in Alissa's book and didn't care for it ... and I'm pretty sure sprouted garbanzo beans are an acquired taste
However, on Saturday I made a hummus recipe that I got from Karen Knowler's (http://www.therawfoodcoach.com/) "The Raw Food CoachÂ’s 50 Quick, Easy, Healthy & Delicious Raw Food Recipes (That Anyone Can Make in Less Than 10 Minutes)" that is made with soaked Almonds instead of garbanzo beans ... it was delicious :D

Frecs, do you know what recipe you used for the garbanzo and adzuki spread??

I didn't really use a recipe...I made it up as I went...here's the approximate recipe for my Sprouted Aduzki Bean Hummus:
1 cup sprouted Aduzki Beans (sprout just until they have tiny tails)
2 carrots, grated
1/2 cup onion, chopped
2 tablespoon raw tahini
juice of one lemon
splash or two or apple cider vinegar
dash or two of cumin or other seasoning
Put everything in the food processor and process until it's the consistancy you want.
I don't have Alissa's book...in fact I only have one "uncookbook" and just got it recently. I tend to read recipes and then when I'm ready to make something I pull from memory so it tends to be a bit from this recipe and a bit from that....

I searched online and hummus is usually made from cooked garbanzos. I was quite disappointed, because it was a favorite. Unless there is another way to make it?
