Hi new to site and to raw eating. I am trying to change from a SAD lifestyle to a 100% raw lifestyle, one day at a time. At present I am middle aged (41), obese (5' 6" and 265 at last weigh in) and do not want to have surgery or go on yet another failure type diet plan or program. Yet I lack the discipline to keep up with any plan so I thought I would try this to help me overcome my issues. After some research and purchase of some raw food books I am trying to start a new way of life and thinking. I am a 'fast food' queen. So I thought raw food is fast food too....right? Plus I see how wonderful people look and say they feel after going raw, I hope it will do the same for me...I'm sure it will! I just lack discipline and I really am a procrastinator hiding inside trying to procrastinate no more! Really tired of the 'you have a pretty face' saga, and would like a pretty body also. Health is really what started it all as my dad passed away when I was 4 to Heart Disease and he was slim :( Of course I am sure he ate SAD foods. Well enough gabbing, I can be chatty...lol... hello to all
Hello RawLife and welcome.
Yes fresh, raw, whole food is as fast as it comes. Just wash or peel and eat. And you can honestly eat just as much raw fruit and veggies as you can hold and still lose weight. The nice thing is that's only the beginning.
Since the body does not have to concentrate on digesting processed food it has time to start healing itself. There was a petition on the net about a year ago and the signers wrote how they had benefited from raw food. It was amazing to read all the illnesses that had healed by itself. The body is a marvelous thing and given the opportunity you will become radiant and healthy.
I will go find the link for you and add it in here. Just click on it and read to your heart's content. ... Oops after readidn the page that pops up you have to click on "the undersigned" to read all the testimonies.

Welcome RawLife.
I am new here myself. I think this will be a great place for you to get encouragement, support, information, education etc that you need to live a raw life.
The hardest thing about giving up fast food is that your body has to go through a sort of detox. That kind of food is actually very addiciting. Once you break that cycle, you will feel so good.
Welcome. Let's do it!!!

Hi Rawlife and welcome. I am in the same boat as you with being a fast food queen and obese (currently 285 down from 307). I have been watching and reading the forums for the last week and there is so much infomation. Also if there is something you cannot figure out, some in here will always have an answer. I am still not 100% raw, just decided to make changes last week and need to go grocery shopping for the fresh produce. I know that I can do it, I do not have much support at home which makes it hard, but I know that I can do it. Take gare and best of luck to you

Hi and nice to meet you both. I have been reading and researching and I believe this is wonderful. I am really excited about starting my rawlife. I am almost gitty...like a first date, but a first date with my new self...lol. I feel this will give me a new start on life once I detox 41 years of SAD habits. I am trying to encourage my spouse to join me so we can have a raw household, but he is about 30% for it, being a big guy with a SAD habit he is slow to come around. I am sure once I set the example he will be so ready to join me I am implementing the changes as we type. I keep smiling like I have a secret that is bursting at the seams...I am that excited!! My excitement comes from years of obesity and frustration and finally this is one thing that I don't have to worry about so intensely anymore. Plus I feel this is the fountain of youth!!...lol. Just knowing I can turn back the hands of time and feel free is like a personal vacation for one without the plane ticket....lol. I have high blood pressure and believe me I want to give my doctor a surprise when I finally come off or at least reduce my medication. She once told me I was healthy and all I needed was to lose weight and I wouldn't even have it. So I wanted to find a way to lose it for good, be healthy and it never come back along with a way to do it for life, not just for a short period of time...and woooah mama...I know this is it...at least for me. :) I hope you both success as we start this journey and I already feel at home with my new raw food friends/family. I even change my pic to fresh fruit...it looks so good...lol. Really I am a chatty cathy...as you can tell and my fingers are moving a mile a minute...I am this excited!...I am sure you can tell... and I will end this if you got this far...thanks for letting me vent/shout on top of my mountain...RAWLIFE...yeah!
ok...wake up now its over...lol

Such a wise Choice you have made, seeking a RAW Life. If you feel the desire to go to a drive through by all means do so. Just make sure you eat some fruit or a Salad, nuts and see if the desire is still there. You MUST do these things before or you will lose your buffer zone.
Fast food has ruined a Nation and killed more than any bomb or Natural disaster could do. You are young enough to CHANGE that Cycle. Your Matabolism is still in high gear. But you must change your food groups.
GREASE, SUGAR, SALT AND FAT can all be replaced with a simple plate of Fruit. I must ask if Alissa's Book is one you have? If not I would advise you to order it, only because there are so many good facts in it.
Stay tuned to this channel and ask for help when you need it, someone knows the answer or will direct you to the right place.
I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW......Welcome to MY World........

First let me say I am very encouraged by you since you are a raw food chef! That is so great. I have 2 books by david wolfe and a vegetarian cookbook which I got several years ago just to see what's in it. I am hopeful this will work for me and have tried today to remain raw. I am going to take it one day at a time since I really and truely have always lacked willpower or made up some excuse that I will start again tommorrow. I have had nothing but raw fruit for breakfast. I plan on making fruit my main food since it is easier for me to obtain as easy as 'fast food' and I am naturally craving fresh fruit at the moment. I used to be or thought I was allergic to certain citrus fruits, mainly bananas, oranges and watermelon, but I had some watermelon over the summer that changed everything. I was really selfish...yeah that describes my behavior...over this watermelon. It tasted so good I felt someone had put something in it as I have never liked it before. The seller was a guy saying it came from Georgia and I thought well it maybe good so I gave it a try. I went on and on until I literally ate the whole thing by myself and wouldn't even let the kids (nieces/nephews) have but only a small, very small taste. I noticed at that time I had increased energy and felt like I lose a few pounds but I don't on a scale. So I am trying to get back to that feeling I had, let's say I was addicted to watermelon! I will have a salad for dinner but fruit the rest of the day and see what happens...thanks for the support and encouragement. This site Rocks!!

Hey Rawlife,
Being new myself, the weight has come off quickly these past three weeks. I havea dropped 16 pounds in 3 weeks. That is probably too much too fast but it is just melting off. I eat and eat, honest I do.
This morning I had a HUGE smoothie ( filled the blender with greens--romaine/spinach/kale/baby greens, added 1 cup water and 1 1/2 pears, 1 apple, 1 cup of wild blueberries). I also had a large handful of pistaccios.
No Morning Snack due to a late breakfast. Normally it is some type of fruit and nuts.
FOr lunch we are having veggie roll ups. I will have two, stuffed to overflowing. Using homemade tortillas (fresh ground wheat berries and water), I spread with honey mustard sauce, fill with cukes, sprouts, tomatoes, red bells peppers, avocado (I love avocado), greens mix, and zuke, celery and whatever else I have in the frig. Roll 'em up and NUM!
Afternoon snack is usually some fruit and nuts, celery with almond butter, and maybe homemade dehydrated corn chips with salsa. You know, snacky type stuff the boys like too.
Dinner is still to be decided.
I share the menu to show I am eating a ton and still losing a lot here at the beginning.
I look forward to naturegardens response too.

Thank you RawMamaLee for sharing your meal plan with me...sounds good! I am having a salad right this minute, as for breakfast I had an apple and banana. I really have not had terrible hunger, just an moderate craving and immediately went into the kitchen an prepared a salad. I see you lost 16 lbs in 3wks...that's great! I hope to post similar results but I don't have a scale and really I am afraid to buy one cause I know I will get caught up in the number game with myself and have a 'little snack', but I am going to the doctor's tommorrow and will use that as my beginning weight.
Hi LayLay! Thanks for the support! Knowing you'll be checking in on me will make me more accountable...I have such a problem with completion. I will start a eating plan full of gusto and somehow screw it up...but this time around I feel, no one is perfect <I'm telling self> so if I cheat I will get back at it the very next meal...lol.
Everyone is so encouraging. I have to learn about sprouting and juicing but for now I just want to keep eating fresh fruit and veggies and I feel the rest will come in time, especially since everyone is knowledgable, helpful and understands my issues too. Again thanks for everything guys!

Welcome! It took me time to lose weight at first - I only lost 5 pounds after having so much trouble being raw - but suddenly without realizing I have lost 25 pounds! I found out at doctors office. Don't need new clothes yet.
I learned about feeding raw to my dogs on this site and I used it to show my husband benefit of raw. The dogs are doing great. My husband's interpretation of this is that he needs more meat just like the dogs! LOL! In time I will get him!

How long did it take you to lose the weight and did you lose it with raw foods?
I started raw in May of this year after I was diagnosed with severe allergies. I only lasted three weeks, but had never felt that energetic, vibrant or healthy in my life. I did keep the weight off, but resumed old eating patterns. I am determined to stay 100% raw this time and am slowly introducing my fiance to recipes (although he prefers his meat and potatoes).

Thanks for the nice welcome...luckitri. I started yesterday trying to become raw and thought it would be easy the first day. Boy was I wrong...lol. I did fine breakfast and lunch but dinner rolled around and I found myself at the worst place possible...drive thru! I almost inhaled my food and after felt like I could have had a salad or fruit...so I am at it again, lol.
Naturesgarden that was a lot of weight. I just found out at the doctors office I am 4lbs more than I thought so I better get to it. I keep thinking (excuse) the holidays are coming up and maybe I should start after...? I know this is an excuse because then I told myself the only day I would cheat or have cooked food is the actual holiday so my family would not pressure me to 'try this' or taste mines saga. But really the smart person inside says you can have raw on the holidays and just not taste anything they put in front of you...so I will try to keep this bad person from making me get in my car and pull up at the drive thru...lol. What makes it so bad is my hubby was driving so I just sat there debating with myself and my husband said "what's wrong with you ?" I said trying to decide if I should have something at home and when we got there of course I ordered and still was saying to self...I will have an apple for dessert to push this crap through...I just am terrible...lol.
This I will have to overcome and really get a grip on...lol.
Hi RawLife!I am glad you are joining. It can be hard when temptation is on
the line, but you can do it! :D
