My dream is to become a 100% Raw Foodist. Only problem is I am addicted to cooked foods. I have been on this path for about 10 years loosely and seriously into raw foods for about 2 years. I cant seem to stay on it for a huge length of time. Any people here in my same boat or were in that boat that has some pointers on breaking the cooked food addiction cycle?

Alissa's 4-week plan, in her Living on Live Food book, gives us a great way to get started on RAW, with lots of great recipes. The best tip is to make sure you have more than enough food on hand, and take food with you wherever you go! In the beginning I ate lots of desserts. When I did "slip up" it was because I did not have food on hand or with me (at work, in my car) and I gave in to my cravings.

I just keep reading, and gathering lots of information, on RAW living.

I suggest purchasing the "12 Steps to Raw Food" book from Victoria Boutenko. I see she also has a new DVD - 12 Steps to Raw Food Workshop. (I purchased the Educational Package last month.)

In the book she says that we need to make up our minds to go 100% RAW and never touch cooked food again. If we go 99% we leave the door open. She also says that it will take at least 2 months of 100% raw to get past the *overwhelming* cooked food cravings.

That's what I am shooting for (one day at a time). If I can make it through November and December then 2007 will be a very RAWsome year for me! :p And the beginning of my awesome, RAWsome, future!

Whatever happens, I'm not giving up because I know I feel better on raw than I did on SAD ...

Just knowing you are not alone in your struggle, and hearing testimonies of others who have overcome the addiction (or who are working on it), makes a BIG difference :) You can do it!

Yes:

-Move to a level of raw eating where you ARE very comfortable - and stretch from there. Set small goals (with timeframes) and keep them. If you fail at these goals....set smaller ones...until you have psychic and emotional traction....and your successes will snowball. Don't compare yourself to others...or what a guru would say....or even your idea of what you SHOULD be....just work with what you got...and be honest that that is YOUR path.

-Just some suggestions / opinions.

Thanks so much. By the way, and this may seems funny and bazaar. I am a 100% Vegan and Raw Food Chef. But cooking food, makes for a difficult decision to become 100% Raw.

Hi Skai,

If you are still around, your question has inspired me to record my first raw talk:
