All this produce around my kitchen is drawing in some buggies! Anyone else have this problem? I guess I need to take scraps to the outside trash rather than leave them for a day in the inside trash, store more stuff in the fridge.

Use 1/2 cup of water in a small bowl. 1 Tablespoon vinegar and 2 drops of dish soap. The gnats fly into it and gnats be gone. It works for me all the time. Now don't think they are just going to all at once dive bomb into it because they will take their time before they decide to take their siwm but they will sooner or later. ;)

I always thought those were fruit flies!!! Well, I guess they could be. I don't have enough of them to worry about it though.
I'm feeling yucky today... crampy, achy and out of sorts, I'm sure my body is going through all sorts of detoxing, though I'm still weaning myself off of caffeine. The amazing thing (and I'm sure you can relate) is, I'm not hungry and I'm not craving anything. It's probably just a phase I'm going through, but it's downright weird!
I've just ordered Alissa's book and I'm picking up Nature's First Law tonight which I ordered last week. For someone who could live on KitKat bars, I've come a long way!!! My dh is adjusting and my dd just thinks I'm ridiculous. I really don't care. Just the thought that someday I could happily get out of a size 18W is enough to keep me going. I know there are lots of benefits to doing this, but for right now it's all vanity. I was thinking about this on the way home from work last night - it's been 7 years since I was a "normal" weight - I had just come off of doing 2 straight years of OA Greysheet (weighed and measured low carb) and sure enough, one Easter, I just went bezerk. It was a miracle any of the kids saw anything in their baskets... I couldn't get it down fast enough. I didn't stop until last year when I couldn't stand being this big anymore. Greysheet is NOT the end of the block for ME. I tried it again just a few months ago and I gained weight. My body (gall bladder-less) was having none of it.
I'm sorry I didn't find this woe sooner. I've struggled for so long, it's a strange relief not to have to anymore.
Much love to all,
Melissa

Wow Melissa, it sounds like you and I have a lot of the same history. I know what that going bezerk is like, that's what led me to OA to begin with.
Hey, you know what! Celebrate that you feel yucky today!!! It's detox! Pamper yourself, allow yourself to move just a little slower today. Take a nap if you can. Pat yourself on the back for taking this step.
You will find what you seek with raw, I sure have!
Flutter---thanks for the tip!!! I will definitely try it. I think you're right, I think they are little fruit flies. Too many banana and mango peels in the trash I think!

I know that this works. I have read tons of testimonies, and I believe them. I listen to everyone here - none of us are perfect, but we are striving to do the best we can. This is HUGE... to find an answer to a life long struggle... there can't be enough words for how much I'm willing to feel crampy and crappy just to get through this - the other is side is what I want and where I'm going!!! To be healthy and thin has been totally out of reach for the last seven years. Yes, I lost a little here and there. But it was always white knuckling it, starving, and then breaking down and gorging. I was 240 in 2002 when I remarried. When I look at those pictures I just die. I am willing to have migraine and to eat an Asian pear-apple (what are those things called, they are SO delicious!!!) instead of chocolate. For today, I am WILLING to ask for help if I need it and to decide that no matter what, I am going to stick to this... and just maybe my 3rd year anniversary pictures will be better :D
I Looking forward to reading Alissa's book!
Love to all,
Melissa

Hey, I ate my first asian pears this week...they taste like DAQUIRIS to me!! Very subtle, but it's there!
Smasty,
I know how to make a gnat/fruitfly trap that attracts fruitflys. May not want to keep it in the kitchen though :).
First you get an empty gallon plastic milk jug with lid and clean it out real good. Then in the center of the jug on its side you poke a hole just big enough for a fruitfly to get into. Put an over ripe bannana in the jug and cap it. Fruitflies and gnats will be attracted to the bannana, crawl in and not be able to find their way back out.
Thats how I trap food for treefrogs...but thats another story. :)

Oh Kirk, you're hysterical, treefrogs??? Like you have pet treefrogs??? I shouldn't talk, my daughter has an illegal turtle that she got in Chinatown. I'm definitely your resident cosmopolitan raw fooder. I can't even begin to imagine catching fruit flies! So 'fess up, Kirk, what else have you got there???? :)
