I bought an spaghetti squash. I was wanting to know if anyone knew how to get the spaghetti squash out without cooking it? Would I have to dehydrate? Should I just run it thru the spiral slicer?

Thanks!

Maybe the spirooli...... I always just use the zucchini squash and make my spaghetti that way. Is the spaghetti squash different in texture?

lavendarJ - yes. Spaghetti squash is totally different. When you cook it, it takes on the form of spaghetti; stringy and you scrape it out and it really resembles noodles. It is very hard when uncooked.
honeybee joy - I would say experiment with it. See if you CAN scrape out those "noodles" I haven't bought one since going raw.

joy, it doesn't taste that amazing raw, so I would say either make an amazingly flavored sauce for it, or experiment with marinating, wilting, dehydrating.

Thanks exurb. I might make it, combine it w/ Alissa's sauce, and dehydrate. I could also coat it in olive oil and dehydrate for awhile as well.

I will experement and let you know the results.

honeybee....spagetti squash is my favorite (I do not like other raw squash for spagetti). I cut the spagetti squash in half (aloso done a smaller whole one and then cut ) and then put in the dehydrator for hours....that warms it and makes it easier remove the spagetti. The warm to your desired temp, eat w/ any sauce you like..yum.

How long did you dehydrate it?

gosh honey I never timed it and it has been awhile...but last time I recall putting in early afternoon, whole, to get it warm as it is easier to cut in half (that may have been an hour...) then I kept it in 105 ish all afternoon and it was warm for dinnertime. You can tell by touch and running the fork on it to see how it is doing.

Thanks rawfigure...didn't try it your way this time.....will next time.

Half of it was rotten...and I was kinda in a hurry...so I just scraped it out with a fork in it un-dehydrated form. It looked more like hashrowns...them put alissa's sauce on it and dehydrated it for 30 mins. Have to say that I love the way it tastes raw...it is like the buttery taste is not cooked out of it.

Thank you all for your ideas and support! I do want to try it the deydrated way next time!
