I'd soak them overnight just to 'wake them up' so to speak. Soaking is supposed to boost the nutritional value over just grinding them dry. It would likely depend on why you were wanting to add them into your smoothies. If your looking for more fiber I'd look towards flax seeds more than spelt simply because of the binding properties that flax has for moving out toxins. If your looking for a particular nutrient then I'd soak them then drop 'em in. No need to sprout them, soaking will work just fine. Of course if you forget then grind 'em up and toss them in and enjoy. :)

i did try to sprout - soak before........but the process was so consuming
............ soaking - just overnight then, will do the trick?
thanks............
would like to try sprouting again...........whole reason i bought these
but soaking, rinsing.............then drying out completely, just to do it all again.........was such a pain
UNLESS. i misunderstood the process...............
it was the shaking, and drying out completely just to resoak that was the tedious part
