View Full Version : Spicy Turnip Greens
Funny how the taste of a single food varies so much from time to time. My favorite guys at the final market of the year gave me a whole sack of turnip greens to use since they know I am a green smoothie girl.
4 pears, two big handfuls of turnip greens and a spash of raw honey.
Fabulous taste with a huge spicy after kick! Wow! The last time I used turnip greens I had a nice smooth, albeit very green tasting smoothie, no kick. It will be disappointing to get the mild ones again!
Looking for more green smoothie recipes, anyone out there doing the green?

Nix, do i dice the pears or slice them, i guess it doesn't really make a difference whether you want them chunky or thin.
I think i'll try this later on today as i have a few turnip greens left in my garden and some raw honey :) .

I've always been afraid of using anything other than spinach in my smoothies...now with the spinach off the market, maybe I'll give these a try. Maybe the ones that have been slightly "frosted" from colder temps. get the spicier flavor??? Very interesting.

I chunk them and throw them in my food processor, then into the blender as my blender is not a high power one and I have already killed one blender with my smoothies!
I also use parsley by the bunch in smoothies. I found an article:

Hope this link works, don't know how to work that part of this show. Anyhoo...Any green veggie that can give me the protein of two eggs in one bunch is high on my list as I used to be a protein hound and loved eggs, so parsley is in for me!
So bust away from spinach tvillemom! And go back to it of course! It's good stuff too.
