I actually found buckwheat yesterday in town but though it is organic, I am not so sure it is raw. I can either get it hulled or hulled and made into "oatmeal". I'd like to use it as cereal on occasion. Thanks in advance!

In my experience most buckwheat is raw. You can buy a little and sprout some in 2 days to check. The ones with the hull are good for sprouting greens. The ones without are for recipes and eating. It's technically the seed of a fruit... so it's neither a nut or a grain.

Enjoy!

Thank you Sheryl! I will try and buy a bag when I have the money (there is no, buying a little here, a bag or no bag..) How about the "oatmeal" then, I don't have a dehydrator to make the cereal, so to get it this way would make everything so much easier!

You can literally soak buckwheat for a few hours, sprout for a bit (even a few hours helps), rinse well and blend. It's quite good with some fruit blended up in it (banana and apple are my favourites) with some dried fruit and cinnamon. YUMMY! No need to dehydrate.

Sweet! Thank you so much Sheryl! I could imagine it going a bit broth like? I'll be making this for breakfast soon!
